SPRINGFIELD - U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin said Thursday he intends to be President-elect Barack Obama's unofficial "first friend" and has "a hundred" questions to ask Obama at a lunch the two are planning to have together today in Chicago.
During and after a wide-ranging discussion with Springfield High School students, Durbin discussed his relationship with Obama as well as his thoughts about who should replace the future president in the U.S. Senate, a decision that is up to Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
As for Obama's successor, Durbin said he has a list of preferred replacements but does not intend to make his choices public.
"If I could meet with the governor - and we're trying to set that up right now - I want to keep it confidential between us," Durbin said. "(Planning a meeting) has been a little more difficult than I thought, but I think we're going to be able to do it tomorrow."

Was Durbin acting as a go-between for Obama and Blagojevich?
He goes to lunch with Obama, then visits the Gov. the next day, regarding Obama's open seat?
Was he essentially shielding Obama from direct contact with Blagojevich, essentially laundering their relationship?
A Reporter reports about the meeting between the Governor of Illinois and Obama on November 5th. But, no, Obama said he had NO CONTACT with the Governor! This is a nice article to add to the Obama and Axelrod comments!

I want little Dick Durbin to go down as hard as I want Rahm Emmanuel to go down.
I bet the grand jury is already on the hunt. How wide is the net going to be.
If I remember right, there was also some discussion that half and halfs senate seat should be filled by a black person...

Gee, if there’s going to be an election, what good are B. Hussein’s “choices” for his replacement?
We don’t even know if he’s in trouble, so to speak. But we do know, assuming this quote is true, he was planning on meeting with Blagojevich to discuss, specifically, the Senate replacement. What transpired? Given the depth of corruption involved here, I think the public has a right to know.
