I am seriously thinking of taking to steps to go to a survivalist approach planning to survuve total chaos and financial and institutional break down. Some one please help me see why this is not going to happen. Thanks

Start by giving us reasons why you think it *will* happen.
I’ve been contemplating a small freezer for that reason. One that I can pack as full as possible out of my main freezer, cover it with blankets (except for the motor and coils), and put power to it for only two hours a day or so.
But I’m not sure what’s available, guess I should start checking.
Or a root cellar. We've turned half our basement into one. Anything that stays about 50 degrees will keep fresh food (potatoes, carrots, beets...etc.) for an extended period of time. You can even bury barrels full of food and then cover the area with a heavy layer mulch. That'll work, too, if you haven't the space.
For a national emergency, frozen food is a bad idea. You'll have to eat it fast or end up preserving it anyway.
Exactly. I was taken aback when he didn’t admonish me right away. I think he refrained from bringing it up so I didn’t freak out lol.
I did notice his behavior of late though. He did sell a few prized possessions, bought some ammo and another pistol and has been cleaning rifles.
Now after talking about and making some plans, I feel better.
Warrior Women indeed! ;)
Next Friday afternoon go out back, turn off your gas , electric and water. Don’t drive your car. Now just exist all weekend long as you make a list. Your needs may differ due location, weather, available resources etc ........
Think about all you do every day and what you can do without. Consider your security. Hygiene. Nourishment. Water. Heat or cooling. Sewage. Transportation. Funds. Supplies on hand. Laundry. Lighting. Medical needs and first aid supplies.
Think when you work as no 911 exists. You have to be a safety nazi because cutting wood with an ax is very unsafe if you do not do it all the time . Thus consider a sierra saw or bow saw versus an ax etc . Think like this for every task. Like help and aid may be a thousand miles away and any mistake you make could cost you your life from loss of blood or mere infection.
Just a start as your list will always be different that others needs.....but plan on 90 days minimum of supplies and gear. What ever you spend money on spend wisely as crap is crap and will not serve you well. Do you buy one 600 dollar cool SIG handgun or three 200 dollar Remington 870’s from wally world ?
Think YOUR situation through with emphasis on location, conditions, population, weather and threat from criminal element. As well is this disaster local and can you evacuate to friends or families homes far away or are you better off to sit tight ?
Questions only YOU can answer and solve !
Stay safe !
It is going to happen. I just can’t tell you when.
I do believe when things go south they will do so quickly.
When Obama’s thugs and goons get the green light to act, they will act quickly and violently.
On November 4, 2008 it went from will to when.
There are a few left at a store he frequents. After making a few calls to his buddies and if they don’t have what we want, we’ll go there.
I am very impressed! I am good, but not that good yet.
Thank you for sharing and good luck out there...
We have lots of dry stuffs, canned food, jerked and smoked meats, etc.
Water is paramount. Having that very heavy, double action ammish pump is a very nice thing for the wellhead.
Thanks. Any questions, feel free to ask. I'm sure we've been there and done that.
If you're rural, or maybe even suburban, a good reference book is "The Encyclopedia of Country Living."
The woman who wrote it lost her husband and was left with kids. She had nothing, and had to live on nothing. She learned how to live with no money and from total scratch. She even saved her chicken feathers (I don't remember how she got the chickens right now) to make quilts for her kids. That's how informative her book is.
Sorry to get off on that tangent.
I agree about the brownshirts, etc.!
Maybe you could provide some information about a financial issue I’ve been puzzling over. I put my retirement money into a Treasury money market account years ago when I started reading up on finance and came upon some very bearish writers who made a lot of sense. (Web sites for Comstock Partners, The Daily Reckoning, Financial Sense, etc.)
Now they are saying that Treasuries are a bad bet for the long term, given our huge overspending. However, not being an expert investor I’m not about to trade currencies or other such exotic things. Will T-bills be okay in a very inflationary environment, or are they “like running into a burning house,” as one writer described it. I suppose no one knows the future, though. At least short-term Treasuries would provide higher yields as interest rates climbed.
Please don’t feel obligated to respond if you don’t feel comfortable giving specific financial advice. I will just keep reading my web sites until I figure out what to do.
Thank you, cap. I will definately be picking up that book.
Stay safe, amigo.
LOL! Maybe I should change my screen name.
Will you chop my wood for me? ;-)
Yep. Without electricity, a normal pump won't work. A lot of people forget about that part.
That’s the way I teach it here in poohville.......:o)
With regards to all 4 seasons.....LOL !
Stay safe and Keep the Faith Jeff !
