To the McCain staff and Republican Party leaders:
My family has been Republicans since before the civil war. One of my ancestors lived in Arkansas and is described as a Moral Abolitionist. Originally from South Carolina he brought his Family to North West Arkansas and started a community named The Lords Vineyard. Here he taught both his children and the slaves he brought with him as well as the slaves he inherited or bought in South Carolina to read and write. Once they reached 21 and were able to read and write and had learned a skill, he gave them a piece of property and helped them set up a business. He once said that his children were no more prepared to live in a world without slaves than the slaves were to have freedom. He is it was his duty to ensure that both could be free and successful. He created uproar when he gave one of his slaves a business before his son, because his son had not become sufficiently humble.
I believe through my family, I have earned the right to speak as a Republican and believe my thoughts reflect many other Republicans.
The McCain staffers who did not agree with Sarah Palin, would you please just Shut Up!! You must understand that most of America loved Sarah, she energized long time Republicans who like myself was not enamored with John McCain as the candidate. When he won, I had decided to sit this election out, I would vote for him because he was the lesser of two evils but I was not going to walk the streets and volunteer my time and money. Sarah changed that for me. I worked harder to get Senator McCain elected than I worked to get George Bush elected. If youre an example of what the insiders in Washington have become, we deserved to lose!!!!
Americans are starved for someone that can clearly articulate our agenda of lower taxes, limited government, protecting the unborn children and our personal freedoms. Sarah Palin is that person and you are trying to destroy her. We will not allow that to happen, not this time. She will not become a George W Bush because you have hurt feelings. Our message was schizophrenic at best and liberal at worst. We must get back to being the party of ideas.
We must accept the fact that when liberals wage a campaign of personal destruction they win. They not only have the backing of the press but many in Europe. People who want to see American power in the world diminished back the liberal agenda because they know that liberals are the best avenue to destroying everything we hold dear. When liberals are forced to wage a campaign of ideas they lose. American values are center right not left. Every liberal that won, did not discuss issues but instead focusing on their opponents personal life and distorting their values. Republicans who wage a campaign of personal destruction always lose.
If we move to the left, Americans will keep electing Democrats, we need to unite, and start presenting our party as the party of ideas and taking our case directly to the American people. We need every Republican united in that cause.
Shut up and get to work or get out of the way.
Who are you FOR.
Either support somebody, or get out of the way.
Inman Ping
You don't get a second chance to make a good first impression.
Obama’s first impression, was Reverend Wright.
Who are you FOR?
Either take a positive position to advance someone, or stop trying to tear down the best thing to happen to the GOP since Ronald Reagan.
Who are you FOR?
Speak up. Own your position.
Inman?
I did call...and talked to a smart alec young man that told me what I was saying about the attacks on Palin were not true. I told him it was all over the news and he said that it was the same as before. I said no it is not and he should be watching TV. Got no where. He was defensive. He said they had nothing to do with the McCain campaign. I think I will become something else...sadly, what would that be?
They can try. Don't expect that to endear them to those of us who really know.
First impressions are just that! Impressions are not factual, example good olde boy Jimmy Carter, Ha Ha..
After Reagan narrowly lost his challenge to Ford at the 1976 convention - and gave a speech that was far and away the highlight of the entire affair - Reagan returned to his ranch, made speeches and appearances, and appeared with republican candidates for office all over the Country for the next 4 years.
Ford, of course, went down to defeat at the hands of the worst President of his century, and became an irrelevancy, while Reagan honed his skills, built his relevance and importance, made the connections and built the support that led to the most successful presidency of the century. What he did NOT do was find a parking place like the Senate. He kept his name, voice, and face before the public, and kept his conservative philosophy in the national spotlight by contrasting it almost daily with Carters current fiasco - remember the misery index?
Sarah Palin BY HERSELF added DOUBLE DIGITS to McCains numbers, IN SPITE of the efforts of her frightened faux conservative republican detractors. McCains loss has made him an irrelevancy, while Palins contribution has made her the most significant leader of the party today, while the former so-called leadership gets the sacking it earned.
“So that immaturity being on the national stage, was a deal breaker for you.
The seemingly rushed nature of her being sprung on the national scene is somehow a product of her preparedness?”
Not exactly, I certainly voted for McCain/Palin, so it wasn’t any sort of deal breaker.
I’m just not a strong supporter of hers for the future. The person that I would love to see just hasn’t materialized yet.
I would be thrilled with a viable candidate that represents conservatism in a manner similar to Newt.
We are a group that noticed Romneybots on FreeRepublic and began speaking out as early as March of 2005.
One of the Mittens called us a group of “flying Inmans” and the name stuck.
But it is the inman group that has been shown to be rather insightful in this election cycle debacle (if I may say so myself)? Mitt is a two-timing, slick willard.
==> “You don’t get a second chance to make a good first impression.” <==
That was the fault of the campaign, not the candidate! And now they are trying to lay off the blame for their own failures.
“The person that I would love to see just hasnt materialized yet.”

Then get out of the way.
Her first impression was made at the GOP convention.
I hate to tell you folks. The GOP is at war. And you people who do not support Palin are going to be backed into the Ocean.
What I meant by "no more discussion needed" was that on the question of whether or not she is a potential candidate/leader/standard bearer, I think the sensible thing to do is accept her as a viable prospect. Meaning WE, our side, needn't debate on whether or not she is The One. Let's put her name on the list, and try to find more names. Good ones. Real competition. Let's see Sarah compete against, say, Newt Gingrich. Let's test her on OUR terms.
As for Romney, I think he's a fake, phony fraud and we shouldn't waste 10 seconds on him. As for who the others should be to compete for the job, I don't know. I'm putting out an APB. If folks want to sign on with Sarah now, that's their business, and they are free to advocate for her. I'd like to see some competition, and see her tested on our terms. Let's see a think tank host some conservative debates. I'd like to see her debate Newt Gingrich. While he may not be presidential material, he certainly can debate the issues. Let's test our prospects on our terms. I don't think that's too much to ask.
I'm not sold on Sarah. She's likable, but I'm not convinced we can't do better. In fact, I hope we can. I think it makes sense to strive for the best. And competition is the way to get it.
We’ll find out if your suspicion is correct. Maybe it is, but I didn’t get that impression. I got the impression she didn’t know what she was talking about when it came to the SCOTUS. And to me, that’s simply unacceptable.
That's one theory. I'm thinking we'll find out in time if that was the case. I'm open to the possibility, even though I don't share the view.
The GOP is at war. and those who do not support Palin will be backed into the ocean.
2005. Wow. What’s the origin of the word?
I noticed the Romney bots only after he lost. Spreading pure BS. It was them who convinced me their guy was a douche.
well said!!!!!
