There will be no one left to protect you

Barack Obama wants to institute a Civilian National Security Force, a vast militia not unlike Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, a personal army. He knows he would need such a force to protect him and to enforce his will on Americans.

Americans will have not seen such arbitrary power used against them since the days of the Civil War when Lincoln put the Constitution in the bottom drawer of his desk and set about arresting anyone who opposed his policies to enforce the Union on southern States seeking secession. The moral issue was slavery. The Constitutional issue was states rights.

If you want to see another civil war, just wait for this new security force to come into being. Obama would need it because the concept of posse comitatus forbids the use of the U.S. military to enforce laws within the nation. An army of domestic followers of “the One” would fill that need, assuming that all other law enforcement agencies failed to resist such a horrendous plan.

“They’d eat their children alive if he told them to.”

If there is one thing I know for a fact is that Congressmen and Senators value getting re-elected above all else. They will not vote for any legislation they think is going to cost them re-election. Farm region politicians vote for farm subsidies, oil region politicians vote for oil, gun region politicians vote for gun rights. Check on the voting records of Senators and Congressmen and you will see I am 100% correct. Do you assume that a Democrat is going to vote for some wild civilian army that is going to be an anathema to most Americans? Not a chance.

Except for the last picture, which was funny, the other two depict morons most people would not consider typical neighbors. The number of southerne whites who brought violence on blacks during the Civil Rights movement was small and certainly not representative of the vast majority white southerners. A majority of whites in the south may have been against integration, but they certainly didn’t advocate violence. I am a recent immigrant to the south and find your suggestion somewhat offensive.

I’ve lived in the South my entire life. Those pictures represented my friends and neighbors of the time period in question. The ugly shameful truth is they were indeed typical of the vast majority of Southerners. Those not activly engaged in degrading lunch counter patrons were hiding at home blaming “outside agitators” for causing all the trouble. I lived it, Sir. Every day. You did not. If you need further proof, just review the recent news coverage of all those nice young White kids destroying shops and burning cars during during World Trade Organization meetings in Washington DC and New York. Wake the hell up, people. While you’re walking the parapets keeping an eye peeled for attack by militant inner city Blacks, your nice White neighbor kids are making Molotovs in the their basement.

I think that, God forbid, if something like this happened, many in the military, as well as millions of armed civilians, would make short work of any such force.

Sorry, I think on both counts you'd be wrong. But only by about 25 years. 25 or more years ago, you'd have been spot on and I'd have no worries. But for all that time and more the liberals and their socialistic curriculums have dominated the schools across the country, both private and public. They have taught that armed citizens are automatically and forever at cross purposes with "civilized society." The fact that the indoctrination has been targeting the entire student population has the natural by product of also indoctrinating the armed forces and the civilian police as these professions are by necessity drawn from the same pool of possibilities. Everybody is in synch. The indoctrination is only weakened by proactive parenting which is fast disappearing from the scene.

Step two; get the guns

Methinks this is the sticking point. That and somehow rewire the mindset of the sheepdogs of society. Folks like me and most of the other freepers here. Especially those who hang out on the BANG list!

Obama and Congress can discharge the current military and sell most of the weaponry off to Russia and China at discount, making a coup attempt next to impossible.

The Russians and Chinese could also decide to move against us, saying that we need “Rescuing” from our right winged ways...

In the end sadly we may end up seeing a bloody second civil war which would make the first be like a day at the beach.

"In the end sadly we may end up seeing a bloody second civil war which would make the first be like a day at the beach."

It is my most fervent prayer that it not come to that. I am reminded of the words of Robert E. Lee, written in a letter to his cousin in Maryland before the onset of the Civil War: "I can scarcely envision no greater calamity to befall this republic than dissolution of the union." I am not a particularly religious man, but I suggest prayer is in order at this time.

Insightful. He’ll just forbid the outright military from operating on US soil (as is practically the standard now), and create his own loyal domestic forces.

What he forgets is we already have domestic forces, and some 18,000,000 of them are engaging in live-fire live-target war games right now, in operation “Deer Season”. (You think I jest...)

I’ve spent several posts elsewhere loudly pointing out that the context of the “security force” was purely a Peace Corp, soup kitchen, Habitat For Humanity sort of thing writ large (and very badly phrased via an impromptu addition to the prepared text) - and it could certainly start that way. Now you’ve got me wondering how little it would take to convert that to what so many fear.

They’re closer than you think.

This whole “digital TV” initiative, while innocent in its core intent (modernize TV broadcast and improve efficient use of limited radio spectrum) does exactly that: un-approved broadcast becomes difficult unto practically impossible.

One can, for a few more months at least, with just a cheap video camera and about $20 in parts from Radio Shack set up a local-broadcast TV station (technically; legally may vary). Come next February, all regular broadcasters will shut off their analog transmitters and practically all viewers will upgrade their TVs to follow suit - rendering the “$20 transmitter” solution moot, and raising the cost of starting a station substantially.

With DTV enacted and the only solution, AM/FM radio should follow suit accordingly: the cheap homebrew transmitter will be rendered moot.

Only “digital” transmitters will be allowed, and the audience locked into it. While perhaps still not totally in the grip of government, the difficulty & stakes in lone-wolf broadcasting rise considerably.

I think we’re forgetting that Zero’s “brown shirts” would be mostly Blacks with no education or ambition beyond selling/using drugs and stealing from people who work.I doubt they could muster the discipline to be an effective force.

I think Obama could draw from a deeper pool of recruits for his storm troopers than you realize.

"Progressives" from college campuses, anarchist and communist groups, disgruntled ex-servicemen, officers and police, prison gangs, foreign mercenaries, and anybody who just plain wants to bust heads.

They might not be up to perfect military discipline, but they don't need to be. They just need to know enough to put fear into the people.
