Conservatives yesterday ripped Obama after he was caught on video telling an Ohio plumber that he intends to take the profits of small-business owners and "spread the wealth around" to those with lesser incomes.
The fracas over Obama's tax plan broke out Sunday outside Toledo when Joe Wurzelbacher approached the candidate.
Wurzelbacher said he planned to become the owner of a small plumbing business that will take in more than the $250,000 amount at which Obama plans to begin raising tax rates.
"Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn't it?" the blue-collar worker asked.

Critics said Obama let the cat out of the bag.
"It's clear that his main goal is redistribution of wealth, not growth," said Andy Roth with the anti-tax group Club for Growth. "He's perfectly happy to destroy wealth as long as he can redistribute it."
Obama has been meticulous, Roth said, to conceal the "socialistic" nature of his tax plans. "But every once in a while, he lets it slip," he said.

I think that we will have to agree to disagree on this one. We would have to debate the life and times of the average peasant and who did and who did not pay taxes. I don't think our time is worth the effort, given that there are so many undecideds to work on.

My husband and I own a small business and have been getting
nailed on taxes! People don’t actually realize what it
costs in taxes. For every dollar that comes out of our
employees check for social security or medicare,we
have to match that. There are a list of taxes that are due
each week. There is Federal tax, Social Security,Medicare,
and State tax.
Not to mention liability insurance, workmans comp
insurance,building insurance, health insurance.
The cost or running a business is huge!
Obama has never run a business so he has NO CLUE what it’s like in the real world for people who are ctually “creating jobs”.
I say back off Obama!! You are going to tax us out of business! “Change” is all that I will have left in my pocket under Obama’s Presidency.

Perhaps so. It appeared to me that the point of the story was that the tax collector was taxing people into poverty — thus that the taxes were the CAUSE of the poverty, and would not stop due to poverty. It is because of this dynamic that the Sheriff of Nottingham was hated by the poor. If he hadn’t been collecting taxes from everyone, why would everyone hate him?
Robin Hood was therefore fighting against unjust taxation and an overburdensome government.

I find this line particularly frightening/revealing

Obama’s definition of success = ?????
I submit that his definition of success is a person with all of their needs met even if it is a result of no effort on their part and totally the result of government handout.
Their was a story several months ago about families in England which had been on the “dole” for 3 generations, kids whose parents,uncles aunts and grandparents had never had a job(these were not immigrants but ethnic white anglo-saxon British. I read Obama as saying that the only thing standing between these people and “success” is a larger monthly government check.
You and I and the American population in general understands the term success as implying that a person accomplished something by their own efforts.

The big lie that Obama and the left push constantly is the idea of “the less fortunate” the “dis-enfranchised” denying the reality that virtually anyone who makes a real effort can succeed in this country.
South East Asian refugees can arrive in America without a dime, not speaking a word of English and 3 years later they own their own dry cleaning business, 5 years later a chain of dry cleaners.
George Will pointed out long ago that the number of families in poverty, who waited until marriage to have children and waited to marry until they had finished their education is a very tiny percentage.
As they say, she'd rip him a new one and wink while she did it!
That's what we get when two senators are nominated for the presidency.
The collegiality of the Senate, "My Honorable Colleague" supercedes battling it out.
That's why 0bama can say truthfully that "he [McCain] won't say that to my face."
That's why Governor Palin has no problem unsheathing the sword.

Welfare reform in the 1990s was EXTREMELY POPULAR with the tax-paying public.
This is just another Racket like welfare, and we are right back to where the hard-working small business owners will be dragging those who make poor cholices on their backs.
It’s a good issue for McCain if he casts it in terms of the truth:
Obama will raise taxes on small businesses;
Obama will raise taxes on blue collar small businesses;
Obama will raise taxes on you and your neighbors.
Now that’s funny.
