Wall Street Bailout Largely Leaves Out Main Street Foreclosures
September 28, 2008
On Sunday, Sept. 28, ACORN National President Maude Hurd released the following statement after Congressional leaders announced a $700 bailout plan for Wall Street:
Members of Congress worked tirelessly over the weekend to rid Wall Street of its toxic assets, which are responsible for the worst financial crisis since the 1930s. Unfortunately, families who fell victim to Wall's Street's toxic lending practices and now risk losing their homes were largely left out.
ACORN members are extremely disappointed that the bailout package does little to assist these homeowners, such as providing them relief through the bankruptcy courts. Although weak, there is language in the bailout package authorizing Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson to facilitate more loan modifications. ACORN members plan to hold Secretary Paulson accountable and ensure he uses this authority to make streamlined loan modifications a priority for struggling American families.
After reading the bill, looks to me like there are plenty of loopholes to shove money through.
I hope the McCain campaign starts hitting Barry on ACORN. The level of corruption and intimidation and manipulation is so high that most people (even your average Dem) could understand it if it is presented to them.
Obviously, the beneficiaries of ACORN wouldn’t like it, but I can’t believe there are enough of them to elect a president.
Now they’re writing Obama’s speeches. Or were they always writing O’s speeches.

We elected these boobs. And they have no fear we'll throw them out.
If they pass this bill, I hope to God we prove them wrong. If we don't, we deserve what we're gonna get.
Just pay your damn mortgages! Bam! Problem Fixed!!
How 'bout 'streamlining' your supporters PAYMENTS!

same here, the GOP needs to hammer this on the camera’s and to the media
, tie ACORN to the obama and it would sway a lot of independants
about time this group was closed down and m,any of the top boys/girls arrested
>>>Members of Congress worked tirelessly over the weekend to rid Wall Street of its toxic assets,
Yeah! Those toxic assets are mortgages obtained by vermin like ACORN for its members...
The “bailout” should not include re-doing MORE mortgages that more people cannot afford to pay...
ACORN is a CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE that SPECIALIZES in VOTE FRAUD!
Brer Rabbit was caught and he wailed....you can cut off my ears, you can chop off mt foot,You can whack off my fingers.....but puleeeze, puleeze, don’t throw me in the briar patch.

Does the bill include commerical bank debt? Thanks
BTTT
If Obama/Ayers had used the 100+ million Annenberg Challenge money on schools, as was the intention, perhaps more of those South Side school students would have graduated and found decent, well paying jobs and wouldn’t have needed subprime loans. It’s almost as if Obama, Ayers and ACORN wanted to keep them on the plantation.
Paulson is only there for 3 more months. I guess if Obama wins, then ACORN will drop its plans.
You guys are dreaming. Passing this bill sets democrats up for more spending bills. If republicans vote against them, Pelosi will accuse them of bailing out the rich, but not the middle class. This bill is poison.
