Are You Too Dumb to Understand Evolution?
CreationEvolutionHeadlines ^ | September 10, 2008

Sept 10, 2008 — Astrobiologist David Deamer believes that life can spontaneously emerge without design, but he thinks lay people are too uneducated to understand how this is possible, so he gives them the watered-down version of Darwin’s natural selection instead, which he knows is inadequate to explain the complexity of life. That’s what he seemed to be telling reporter Susan Mazur in an interview for the Scoop (New Zealand). Is the lay public really too dense for the deeper knowledge of how evolution works?...

If we’re going to teach evolution, are we going to teach punctuated equilibrium or phyletic gradualism?

Are we going to teach pre-Cambrium explosion or that life evolved slowly from simpler forms?

Are we going to teach that life arose from non-living matter or that spontaneous generation is impossible?

None of these present any problems for evolution. But since you seem to believe there are separate laws of physics for the earth and off the earth, I can see why you would have trouble here.

Too lazy to read analysis and commentary. Not my problem. Yours.

Too lazy to read analysis and commentary.

So, you cannot refute the simple reading and post thusly.

What part of “Theory” does this pseudo-scientific jerk not understand? When there is not enough evidence to make a theory a law, the truly bright amongst us will seek out other alternatives. The stupid ones will take the easy course and accept it based solely on it’s popularity with agenda-driven atheists.

Wow, you ARE persistent in your continuous exposure of your ignorance, aren’t you?

Do you understand that the original text wasn’t in 20th century American English?

It took me about 3 seconds to find the explanation. Hint: it has to do with Hebrew writing style and verb tense. “Pluperfect” is the key word.

Now, run along and stop bothering me until you look it up yourself.

I’ve never been in it in the first place. :)

I’ve discussed it and sometimes argued it on FR but that’s as far as it goes for me...much too busy.

what’s so special about “accurate fulfilled prophecy”?

Well for one thing there isn't any but if there were any, they would help establish the validity of the Jewish and Christian faiths.

If everyone else here went and read a few of your posts from previous debates, would you continue to post on this thread?

Of course. I stand behind all of my posts : )

The translated version is in error?

I think what he means is that if you ignore the literal reading when it is inconvenient to have a literal reading, and if you assume that the person arguing with you is fully qualified to speak as God, then he wins.

Pretty much the same here, so it seems nothing changes.

To: Ha Ha Thats Very Logical

This makes no sense. When did I say Christians are not American?

I was merely demonstrating to you what your own tactics look like to others.

For instance there was no mention of Jewish Americans in my santa banning example. When did I say Jewish Americans aren’t American?

If ANYone needs to slow down and stop jumping to so many wild conclusions it would be YOU!

Not true. I answered. And I’ll give the same answer.

Read the Gospels. There’s plenty of references to specifically fulfilled prophecy there.

That isn't an answer at all. Would you be satisfied if a TOE person told you to go to the Galapagos and that you would find all of your answers there? LOL

And in case you’re concerned about handling a Bible, here’s a link since you couldn’t be bothered researching it on your own.

MESSIANIC PROPHECIES FULFILLED BY JESUS CHRIST

http://www.scripturecatholic.com/messianic_prophecies.html

I don't have any problem reading the Bible. I read works of fiction all the time. Now lets start with the first referenced prophecy.

"I. General Prophecies Concerning the Coming of Jesus

Gen. 49:10; Mic. 5:2 - a kingdom and ruler of Israel shall come from Judah - Mattt. 1:1-2, Luke 3:23,33 - Jesus is from the line of Judah."

Lets see what Genesis has to say. Gen 49:10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him [shall] the gathering of the people [be].

Let me see if I understand that correctly. The tribe of Judah will reign "until Shiloh," but Israel's first king (Saul) was from the tribe of Benjamin (Acts 13:21), and most of the time after this prophecy there was no king at all. It looks to me to be a false prophecy and has nothing to do with Christ.

Hmm first scripture quoted, first prophecy falsified. For an Omniscient being God got that one wrong or maybe it was just some ignorant goat herder drunk on fermented goats milk. I think I know which one it was : )

Geez is that the best you can do? I was actually hoping for more, but like I said the silence is deafening.

Yes, I agree, you guys think you’re wiser than God,

and point with derision at His Word. Hey, good luck with that.

Any luck figuring out how to use Google yet?

I’m NOT going to provide the link that I found in 3 seconds, because that would be “pearls before swine”. I have no illusion that you’re genuinely interested in any explanation. You simply want to sit back and snipe and condescend. Again, have fun with that.

OK. So your explanation stands that it is that the English versions are in error.

Not in error, English is just inadequate. Ever read one of those translations that attempted to explain all the connotations of the Hebrew, Greek or Aramaic “in line” in the text? Ugly.
