Actually the Obama Campaign has said they were looking for those flags And had them bagged for future rallys. Somehow they ended up at a republican rally.

And Obama is the guy the libs want to put in charge of the "nuclear football?"

Bill Clinton had a hard ime keeping track of that, too.

The Flag issue aside, as a fairly “radical” child of the 60’s, recycle was one of my favorite words. I was stunned when I went to Germany and saw they actually preached it.

One of the biggest problems in the way of recycling, is that it usually takes more energy to recycle and re-use, than it does to make a new one. In most of Europe, instead of innovating and finding a better method, they subsidize it. Here, we build houses on top on landfills. LOL

Back to the Flag issues...they should have donated those Flags to Veteran groups, Cemeteries, Boy Scouts, Schools, etc. The leftovers should be warehoused for future use.

Even being Dummies, I’m surprised at this.

As I first started reading the story, I was wondering why didn’t they have the people in the convention sort their trash and it would have been so much easier and then I saw at the end that they did try but I guess most Dims can’t read or follow directions.

Damon Jones, spokesman for the Democratic National Convention Committee, released a statement saying McCain should applaud the fact that thousands of American flags were “proudly waved” at their convention.

“But instead his supporters wrongfully took leftover bundles of our flags from the stadium to play out a cheap political stunt calling into question our patriotism,” he said.

I don’t question Obama Patiotism because he does not have any and has never demonstrated any.

That was a good article. It highlighted the lib-dem mindset when it comes to problem solving:

They legislate and mandate with wonderful touchy feely enviro-waco ideas ... but they do not think through the consequences of their "Community Organizing" activist ideas. Their type of thinking is why a large part of their base thinks socialism and communism is still their only salvation.

They could have given the concession to their trash problem to all the homeless they drove out of the area ... all the salvageable trash would have been scarfed up soon enough.

MIKE CHRISTIAN: A POW STORY

As you may know, I spent 5½ years as a prisoner of war during the Viet Nam War. In the early years of our imprisonment, the NVA kept us in solitary confinement or two or three to a cell. In 1971 the NVA moved us from these conditions of isolation into large rooms with as many as 30 to 40 men to a room. This was, as you can imagine, a wonderful change and was a direct result of the efforts of millions of Americans on behalf of a few hundred POWs 10,000 miles from home.

One of the men who moved into my room was a young man named Mike Christian. Mike came from a small town near Selma, Alabama. He didn't wear a pair of shoes until he was 13 years old.

At 17, he enlisted in the US Navy. He later earned a commission by going to Officer Training School. Then he became a Naval Flight Officer and was shot down and captured in 1967.

Mike had a keen and deep appreciation of the opportunities this country, and our military, provide for people who want to work and want to succeed. As part of the change in treatment, the Vietnamese allowed some prisoners to receive packages from home. In some of these packages were handkerchiefs, scarves and other items of clothing. Mike got himself a bamboo needle.

Over a period of a couple of months, he created an American flag and sewed it on the inside of his shirt. Every afternoon, before we had a bowl of soup, we would hang Mike's shirt on the wall of the cell and say the Pledge of Allegiance. I know the Pledge of Allegiance may not seem the most important part of our day now, but I can assure you that in that stark cell, it was indeed the most important and meaningful event.

One day the Vietnamese searched our cell, as they did periodically, and discovered Mike's shirt with the flag sewn inside, and removed it. That evening they returned, opened the door of the cell, and for the benefit of all us, beat Mike Christian severely for the next couple of hours.

Then, they opened the door of the cell and threw him in. We cleaned him up as well as we could. The cell in which we lived had a concrete slab in the middle on which we slept. Four naked light bulbs hung in each corner of the room. As I said, we tried to clean up Mike as well as we could. After the excitement died down, I looked in the corner of the room, and sitting there beneath that dim light bulb with a piece of red cloth, another shirt and his bamboo needle, was my friend, Mike Christian. He was sitting there with his eyes almost shut from the beating he had received, making another American flag.

He was not making the flag because it made Mike Christian feel better. He was making that flag because he knew how important it was to us to be able to pledge our allegiance to our flag and country.

So the next time you say the Pledge of Allegiance, you must never forget the sacrifice and courage that thousands of Americans have made to build our nation and promote freedom around the world.

You must remember our duty, our honor, and our country.

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic, for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

A True Story by John S. McCain

“Apparently, these were merely “props”. “Props” that had served their purpose and were now to be discarded along with the styrofoam Greek columns >.... That were “returned to the Studio Lot”.

There fixed it.

Sorry I live in La La Lib Land and any slam however subtle against these idiots in Hollywood, makes me feel good.

To be honest, I don’t think that highlighting things like this helps our cause. I think the issues speak very loudly for themselves and only get clouded by red herrings like this. Granted, those of us here- people invested enough in the Conservative cause to post these messages- may behave differently, but for the vast majority of Americans, disposing of small flags in an inappropriate manner is a regular occurence. Most people end up with a couple of these every year from 4th of July events, Memorial Day events, etc, and it’s not like most Americans have dozens of these miniature flags framed on their walls at home. Almost all of them get put in the trash eventually. Questioning the patriotism of the Dems is fair game, but to do it through vilifying an act that almost all Americans commit regularly throughout their lives seems like an unproductive way to convince people of the superiority of your own idealistic platform. That seems easy enough this election without side shows like this.

True, many people do have such flags among their clutter. I think letting people know that others will be happy to relieve them of such clutter would be taken as a positive message.

Will Obama be called upon to hold someone accountable? Someone in his campaign was responsible to ensure the proper handling of Old Glory. Many men died to protect that symbol of America and to discard it so carelessly is well its simply LIBERAL.
