I wonder if she was working her way through.

Maybe she did struggle at Hawaii Pacific. She wouldn't be the first freshman there to do too much surfing and not enough studying, or maybe she found Hawaii too warm and humid.

North Idaho College is a 2 year community college. Many people go to a junior college to get their grades back up, or up in the first place. (My niece is doing that now, after her high school grades were not good enough to get into the state university) N I C, looks to have a beautiful campus:

So transferring from there to Idaho would not really be unusual. The other school she attended, Matanuska-Susitna College, was at the time also a two year community college, where she went for a single semester. Lots of folks get homesick, especially people whose significant other is far away. Then she returned to U of Idaho, where she finally graduated.

The article says 5 schools, but only mentions 4. I think they counted U of Idaho twice.

My brother in law also attended four colleges, one of them "twice" as well. His majors were "unspecified engineering", "nuclear engineering", "mechanical engineering" and finaly, "general engineering", or something like those. He was for a long time a "consulatant" to a major company, before they decided to no longer employe such outside help. He was the last one to go too. Well he didn't exactly "go", they hired him. He makes way more than I do, even considering the high expense area he works in.

So? I attended 2 community colleges, and 4 Universities - and it took me 20 years to get my BA in Information Technology!

Sounds like some of the colleges mentioned were 2 year schools.

At least two where. The one in Alaska, and the first Idaho school. Have to check out Hawaii Pacific University... No it's a four year school, but at the time it was only about 20 years old, and was "non traditional", with the "campus" in the Fort Street Mall. It only first graduated students in 1972, 7 of them. Lots of military folks take courses from HPU, via various "satellite" campuses on military bases in the area. (They now have a traditional campus, from a merger with a another school, but that was after Governor Palin's time there.).

She may just have found the "urban campus" not to her liking. That would not be at all surprising.

She'll probably release her transcripts from all four schools shortly. If she does, I'd wager that poor grades were *not* her reason for transferring. But even if they were, so FReaking What?

You are right — the liberal elites believe that they are intellectually superior and therefore should get to decide how everyone else should live and how much money they should be allowed to keep. To them, conservative = fat, stupid and lazy. Maybe they need to quit talking down to the voters and quit trying to pretend they care about “working Americans” and instead treat us with respect.

Did she have kids at the time too while going to school? If so SHAME ON HER for neglecting them to go to school! /sarc

She graduated in '87. Her oldest is 19, meaning he was probably born in '88 or '89. I seem to recall he was not born all that long after her marriage. So no she didn't have kids and probably wasn't married either while going to college.

My wife and I were. We started at the same time, got married early in our 3rd year. Wife graduated at the end of the following summer. I took two more years, but then had 12 grad credits (and an Air Force commission, very few people in engineering get through in 4 years if they also are also in senior level ROTC, unless they take a lot of summer courses. I worked, often double shifts or a shift and a half, in a factory during most of the summers (except the one where I went to AFROTC field training for half the summer, that same summer my wife graduated) . I now have an MS, plus a few dozen extra grad credits, my wife has a PhD, and we have two children, and 3 grandchildren, along with the 2 great nieces who live with us.

So? I have attended four if you don't count the two overseas.

Talk about reaching!

Husband attended seven or eight not counting things like CASSS in the Army.

I want to tell everyone something. If you recorded Governor Salin’s speech, keep it. If you have a link to it, bookmark it. I will guarantee you we will want to look back at that glorious night to re-energize ourselves after being gut punched several times between now and November. The attacks will continue. Expect them. And they will get worse, they will even go nuclear if they have too. You will feel at times that maybe Obama will pull it off after all. Don’t fall for it. Don’t fall for the rope-a-dope. Stay energized. Stay in the game. We are going to win.

Can we talk about how Gore flunked?
And wound up getting worse grades than GW?
And didn’t get a degree in science -while now pretending to be the world expert on global warming?

Can we talk about Gore’s drug use? His son’s drug use?

Can we ALL talk about - why it is? That Barak Obama can earn a degree from an Ivy League School - and still

“This ... this could be the gayest smear ever”

Yeah..as far as smears go - it’s around the same category as accusing someone of talking about a pubic hair on a soda can.

More likely THIS Alaska/Idaho girl was too hot (looks-wise) for Hawaii.

Maybe she missed shooting moose and caribou before breakfast. They have those in Idaho, with the comparable Elk instead of the Caribou. Lots of good fishing, similar in style to Alaska, in Idaho too. (actually there is a herd of Caribou in far northern Idaho, and they were farther south in the past, how recently I don't know).

Did she attend or take courses?

I took a bunch of courses at different colleges and transferred them over. I was trying to get accepted at a college that required courses my main college didn’t have. I attended 3 colleges in 4 years by that reckoning.

Did she track down the people Obama knew in 1982?

I’d like to know who they are.

Actually my BS and PhD programs were in the same location. I took a lot of grief for taking my undergraduate and advanced degrees from the same place, but I really had no choice -- some of us have to work for a living if we want to be educated and PSU was down the street from my home, and more importantly, job.

The main thing is she finished and she's done something with her life, as opposed to the top of the Democrats' ticket.

From http://www.comcast.net/articles/news-politics/20080904/CVN.Palin.Education/ the 5th is University of Hawaii at Hilo, and you don’t have to count U of I (UI?) twice.

“According to a biography — “Sarah” by Kaylene Johnson — Palin and three friends went to the University of Hawaii at Hilo after graduation from high school in Alaska in 1982. But they left after a few weeks because of the constant rain there, the book said.

Palin, then known as Sarah Louise Heath, and a friend then traveled to Honolulu and enrolled at Hawaii Pacific University, a private, nonsectarian school. She attended only as a freshman during the fall of 1982, school spokeswoman Crystale Lopez said.”

I like the way you layout her education. It really tells the story of an average American girl getting her education. I’m impressed with her education choices! It makes mine seem boring. I’ve added comments to your list.

F82: Hawaii Pacific University, Business Administration (With at least one friend. Could have been the friends’ plan to live in Hawaii for a few months and still work towards a degree. Remember her parents are teachers, so she knew education was important.)
S83: North Idaho College, General Studies (a community college - great way to get basic classes in a cost effective manner, and it looks like a cool place to go to school. http://www.nic.edu/overview.asp)
F83: North Idaho College, General Studies (ditto)
S84: No college listed (took a semester off to earn a little money)
F84: University of Idaho, Journalism (?).
S85: University of Idaho, Journalism (?).
F85: Matanuska-Susitna College, Journalism (?) (About 14 miles from her hometown of Wasilla and part of the University of Alaska Anchorage. Maybe something was going on at home and they needed her help, or maybe she needed to be close to home to earn some money again. http://www.matsu.alaska.edu/)
S86: University of Idaho, Journalism
F86: University of Idaho, Journalism
S87: University of Idaho, Journalism

I think they want to find a love child or an abortion in her past.

Surely a wild goose chase - but they will be unbelievably diligent in their pursuit of the destruction of Sarah.

My guess is she flunked out of a couple of them - no big deal - I did the same thing.

Would that the media expended the same amount of resources on the reporting of relevant issues.

Alas - will never happen.
