New Palin smear: She “slashed” funding for pregnant teens by, um, expanding it

Daily Kos up to no good again? Nah — this one comes from WaPo, doing the hard work of ignoring primary sources that are reproduced right in the piece. The boss, Laura W., and Anchor Rising did the heavy lifting so read them for the details; if you think expanding a program by $3.9 million instead of $5 million counts as cutting funds, you’re qualified to work for one of America’s most esteemed newspapers. The point, of course, is to use the left’s eternal fig leaf for demonizing Republicans, i.e. hypocrisy, to argue that Palin is callous about the plight of girls in the same position as her daughter. It can’t be that she wanted to save taxpayers money and thought the program could work with a million dollars less. Only the Cruella de Vil narrative’ll do. In fact, I’m surprised WaPo focused on Covenant House’s services for pregnant girls when its actual mission extends to all wayward teens, a much larger group for Palin to hate on by not showering cash on it to quite the full extent deemed necessary by our progressive superiors.

That’s not the only big media Palin smear circulating right now, either. Exit question: Which is more nuanced, the Covenant House nonsense or the fact that the NYT reporter who pushed the story about Palin being a member of the Alaska secessionist party is still standing by it even though the Times itself has now retracted it? (On its blog, of course, not in the paper itself.)

Gov. Palin didn’t slash anything from anybody. In fact, it seems that cutting from $5.0MM (Proposed) to $3.9MM (actual) wasn’t too bad a deal for Covenant House Alaska, seeing that in 2006 their revenue from the govt was only $1.2MM.

When I was working on my CafePress shop checking out the marketplace I came across a nasty shirt -- It said something to the effect of "Hey Palin, How's that Abstinence Only Sex-Ed Course Working out for your Daughter?"

I also saw another one that labeled her "Secessionist Sarah" (which would actually be a cute slogan if it wasn't based on a complete fabrication!). The store owner took the NY Times Lie about the AIP, and proceeded to blowing it up even further - saying things like people in the party were talking about how to infiltrate other parties - alleging that this is what Sarah has done (which of course is bull because she never belonged to that group!). Of course, there is no contact info. for the store owner. He/she sees fit to publish lies, but of course can't be bold enough to come out of the shadows to do so... Very frustrating. I may write to Cafepress later today about though - especially when I've got info to refute the statements now.

OK, I'll stop ranting! LOL With how hard the Left is trying to discredit Palin I think the public will start getting the idea that most of it is lies, and half-truths anyway. Especially if McCain & the Campaign start really hitting them hard on these rumors. -- JMHO.

Heh. Just when you think the Washington Post may be ready to step into the void left by the disgraced and fading New York Times as America’s “paper of record”, the Post goes and (again) exposes itself as just another duplicitous propaganda agent for the DNC. Ah well...

I’m so jaded by press falsehoods I think I can never be surprised at them. But this surprises me.

I can't help but think that the people that implemented these programs to remove the consequences, and therefore the incentives, from the family, knew what they were doing.
