Daily Kos up to no good again? Nah — this one comes from WaPo, doing the hard work of ignoring primary sources that are reproduced right in the piece. The boss, Laura W., and Anchor Rising did the heavy lifting so read them for the details; if you think expanding a program by $3.9 million instead of $5 million counts as cutting funds, you’re qualified to work for one of America’s most esteemed newspapers. The point, of course, is to use the left’s eternal fig leaf for demonizing Republicans, i.e. hypocrisy, to argue that Palin is callous about the plight of girls in the same position as her daughter. It can’t be that she wanted to save taxpayers money and thought the program could work with a million dollars less. Only the Cruella de Vil narrative’ll do. In fact, I’m surprised WaPo focused on Covenant House’s services for pregnant girls when its actual mission extends to all wayward teens, a much larger group for Palin to hate on by not showering cash on it to quite the full extent deemed necessary by our progressive superiors.
That’s not the only big media Palin smear circulating right now, either. Exit question: Which is more nuanced, the Covenant House nonsense or the fact that the NYT reporter who pushed the story about Palin being a member of the Alaska secessionist party is still standing by it even though the Times itself has now retracted it? (On its blog, of course, not in the paper itself.)
Update: “It’s never big enough for some lawmakers, it’s never big enough for some local officials.”
The Democrats (hence, the Media) pull this crap all the time. They propose big spending, a Republican gives them less than they propose, then they call it slashing or cutting. Remember when Bush was accused of taking the food out of the mouths of poor students by slashing the school lunch program? Yet, his budget included the largest-ever increase in funding.
The Media then reports it as truth and blasts Republicans. The ignorant public believes thier fabrications.
If the Media was fair, Republicans would never lose an election. The Media knows it. The Democrats know it, too.
Typical Democrat logic. Reducing increases = cuts. Idiots.

Palin slashed funding for pregnant teens: DEBUNKED
Great post. I can’t tell you the number of arguments I’ve gotten into with my dad about what’s a CUT and what’s simply a reduction of an increase.
So that leaves us with:
a pregnant daughter who is engaged to be married
hoping God has a plan for our troops
a 20+ year old DWI by her (then boyfriend?)
telling the boss of a state trooper that the trooper threatened to kill her father
And their lapdog media parrots the line faithfully and often.
And actually...
well, if you subsidize pregnant teens, are you likely to get more of them or less of them?
I think some consequences might deter others from making the decisions that lead to teen pregnancy.
If more families had to take on the responsibility of their “unexpected grandchildren”, they might keep a closer eye on their young female progeny.

Really, Alaska secessionist party, a party like this exists.....WHERE DO I SIGN UP!!!!!
This worked with my liberal father in law.
If you want a 10% raise, and you only get a 7% raise, your pay was not cut 3%, it was increased 7%. Using personal analogies always seem to work for me.
Thanks for posting this.
It really makes me sick to know that I have to pay for such crap as that anyway. Families should take the burden and carry it not me I have enough burdens of my own.
For the sake of clarity, how much was budgeted the previous year? Or was this a completely new project? I can’t figure it out from the press coverage.
In other words, was the $3.9 million up from zero the previous year, or some other figure? The press never says either way.
“They propose big spending, a Republican gives them less than they propose, then they call it slashing
And there is no limit to how much they are willing to propose in order to claim a program has been “slashed”.
Good list. I encourage you to keep posting it on these hit pieces.
It was up from 1.2 or 1.8 million the previous year (I’ll go check the numbers and post)
