The Poles have been kicking muslim butt since 1689...

I've been there, right outside of Vienna, Austria. A lovely view there too.

As someone mentioned already, you are welcome to visit The Cross In the Woods National Shrine in northern lower Michigan. It is, however, only 55 feet high, but it is the world's largest crucufix.

Who did they get to model? And how do they know what he looked like?

Deu 4:11 "You came near and stood at the foot of the mountain, and the mountain burned with fire to the very heart of the heavens: darkness, cloud and thick gloom.
Deu 4:12 "Then the LORD spoke to you from the midst of the fire; you heard the sound of words, but you saw no form --only a voice.
Deu 4:13 "So He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, that is, the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone.
Deu 4:14 "The LORD commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, that you might perform them in the land where you are going over to possess it.
Deu 4:15 "So watch yourselves carefully, since you did not see any form on the day the LORD spoke to you at Horeb from the midst of the fire,
Deu 4:16 so that you do not act corruptly and make a graven image for yourselves in the form of any figure, the likeness of male or female,

Man... for God's sake...

Can you distinguish between times of Deuteronomy when people never saw God before and times of Jesus when God in Man came to the world as one of us?

Jesus was/is both the Son of God and a son of man. So, seeing Jesus, we saw God (Father) himself according to his Own words directed to his disciples.

So, we CAN, we are fully eligible to make figures and paintings of God because Jesus was the man of flesh and blood that was SEEN, was visible and therefore we can say “We have seen Jesus, WE HAVE SEEN GOD who walked upon the earth, who walked and lived among us, He turned up in public so many a time never hiding his face or silhouette as if it was something forbidden to be seen by people. So, we saw his Countenance because he wanted it to be seen and remembered by people and it was a countenance of son of man that was once full of joy and anxiety the other time. Anyway, it was a human countenance of GOD which we worship also by paintings and other forms of art.

It is NOT my intention to insult you, but next time do not ping me, please, with such an attitude to Words of God. There are so many different attitudes, so many strange approaches all over the world and I do not have time to correct them all.

There are Marxists in disguise who constantly try to stop the building by multiplying many different stupid and preposterous problems. Anyway, the assembly of the statue is temporarily postponed for a technical problem that was suddenly made up by one of those so called “technical experts”. Yet another report on ground structure must be delivered for the building supervision authorities. If positive, the assembly will go on as planned and will probably be completed within a month time.

AS  TO  ACLU:

Poland is a Catholic country where 95% of people confess their faith and of which 75% attend Sunday masses on regular basis. Poland is the only country in the world where the political left, so powerful in the EU, is on the political margin and where parties that base their programs on the social teaching of the Catholic Church, incl. two rival parties Fiscal Conservatives and National Conservatives take more than 90% of seats in the parliament.

We have crosses in schools, hospitals, offices, banks, military and police forces, even over the entrance door to the Parliament next to the National Flag, etc.

[PM Donald Tusk enters the Polish Parliament]

[Pope John Paul II addresses the Polish Parliament]

[The Military Guard of Honor at the Holy Sepulcher in Warsaw Cathedral]

[Generals of the Highest Command of the Polish Armed Forces]

[The Supreme Commander of the Polish Armed Forces and his deputy lead the Resurrection Procession in the streets of Warsaw]

In schools, Polish children (depending on their faith, e.g. Catholic or Orthodox, etc) learn about Christ during special religion classes that are financed by govt. from the national budget.

Poland is the only country in Europe where new churches are constantly built because of the growing needs,  contrary to other EU countries where churches are closed for the lack of believers.

What's more, these two beautiful huge basilicas have been erecting for the last 12 years now. The first one has actually been completed, the other one will be done soon.

[Basilica in Lichen (built in years 1997-2005)]

[The Sanctuary of Divine Providence near Warsaw (still in construction; when completed - the biggest in Europe; click the image to see the video presentation)]

and this is my Poland... no Muslims, no leftists, no ACLU.. just like that!

POLONIA SEMPER FIDELIS.   POLAND FAITHFUL FOREVER.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

John 1:1-3; 14

But erect it with private funds on private property and nothing can be done about it. We should take up a collection - I’ll donate!

Can you distinguish between times of Deuteronomy when people never saw God before and times of Jesus when God in Man came to the world as one of us?

Sure I can. But I asked two questions: Who modeled for this statue and how do we know what Jesus looked like? I think the answer is obvious. We can find out who modeled, but we don't really know what Jesus looked like other than biblical descriptions of some characteristics. And according to these biblical characteristics this statue doesn't resemble Jesus.

Jesus was/is both the Son of God and a son of man. So, seeing Jesus, we saw God (Father) himself according to his Own words directed to his disciples.

If you have a false image of Jesus then you have a false image of God.

It is NOT my intention to insult you, but next time do not ping me, please, with such an attitude to Words of God. There are so many different attitudes, so many strange approaches all over the world and I do not have time to correct them all

Sorry if my attitude offended you. I asked two questions and quoted scripture. The scripture is inspired for a good reason. In the new testament there is not one example of any follower of Christ making a statue of him and using it in worship. In fact Paul seems to have endorsed the idea that images shouldn't be used for worship:

Act 17:29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
Act 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

1Ti 1:16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
1Ti 1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, [be] honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Paul's understanding was that the God he worshipped was invisible to us, outside of the realm of our vision. That's the image he kept in mind.

This isn't just legalism on Paul's part. There's a specific reason why God didn't want his followers to make images and use them in worship. It's exactly because images are able to be bent, shaped and molded to whatever man decides them to be. A false image of Jesus is a false image of God. And when somebody has a false image of God implanted in their mind it makes it harder to distinguish the real God.

I was surprised to discover that the library is a hundred yards or more north of the stadium. It looks closer in pictures.

Jesus is not a spirit, but a human being, and while his appearance is not known, we know that he was a Jew of the first century, of that appearance and speaking that language and lving the life of that people. God has fixed in every man’s soul the desire to see His face. Every idol was an effort to do this, and the aiconic commands of the law aim to tell us that the people of Israel had not seen his face yet. But we have seen his face and heard his voice. Representations remind us of the fact of the incarnation.

I said: Jesus was/is both the Son of God and a son of man. So, seeing Jesus, we saw God (Father) himself according to his Own words directed to his disciples.

your reply: If you have a false image of Jesus then you have a false image of God.

...looks like Jesus himself had a a false image of God because he said:

JOHN 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and dost thou not know me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; how sayest thou, Show us the Father?

so,...if you do not take Jesus' words as true, then this dialog is ABSOLUTELY pointless. No more, please.
