Poland erects gigantic statue of Christ the King

[translated from Polish]

The assembly of a gigantic monument of Christ the King has just begun on the outskirts of Swiebodzin, Poland.

Situated on the small hill several miles east of the German-Polish border, the statue is erected not only as a fruit of faith of the local people but also as a towering symbol of welcome to Catholic Poland, perfectly seen from both A-2 Highway and S3 Fastway.

Almost 100-foot-tall statue of Christ the King will be 4 feet higher than a famous statue of Christ the Redeemer, which is overlooking Rio de Janeiro.

Designed by a priest Sylvester Zawadzki and built from private donations of the local people, the monument will be inaugurated soon.

Bavaria, Austria and Switzerland are the more religious German speaking areas. Interestingly enough, I believe among the formerly very faithful Iberian areas only the Portuguese Azores has a strong faithful population left; I'll let our resident Iberian expert correct me.

Maybe on that Mountain that Billy Graham lived on - that would be a good place for it.

Is "Touchdown Jesus" close enough?

Welcome to the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ Ministries and the marvelous story of what God is doing through this 19 story cross located on Interstate 40 at Groom, Texas... Ten million people pass by every year. One thousand stop each day. This 190 foot tall free standing Cross can be seen from twenty miles away.

Any nation that embraces Christ will be a sheep nation and on the Lords side on judgement day.

The Polish people know what it means to be free.

Indeed. God bless John Paul II. He was a true leader who loved freedom and every soul. I thank God that He gave us John Paul II at the right time.

John Paul II showed us how religion should be used to bring about good. He loved everyone. Oh, how I miss him.
