your reply: If you have a false image of Jesus then you have a false image of God.
...looks like Jesus himself had a a false image of God because he said:
JOHN 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and dost thou not know me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; how sayest thou, Show us the Father?
so,...if you do not take Jesus' words as true, then this dialog is ABSOLUTELY pointless. No more, please.
I believe those words. But you and I have no idea what that image is. The representation that most people call "Jesus" is an amalgamation of artists depictions of Jesus and didn't become the semi-standard "Jesus" picture until hundreds of years after his death.
There's more interesting information about the history of the image here.
Now you may say "well, it doesn't matter if it's not really an accurate representation of Jesus, it's the intent that's important". Jesus said about that:
Joh 4:23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
Joh 4:24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."
