BERWICK, Maine Andrea Burns' Route 9 neighbor watched a woman pull up to Burns' home Thursday, pick up the family's 14-year-old cat, Pumpkin, from the front yard, put the cat in her back seat and drive away.
The whole incident was fairly quick, said the neighbor, who wishes to remain anonymous, but it has left the Burns family with a lasting sadness in wake of their cat's theft.

So, if your child is playing in your yard, someone comes and scoops him up, and then drives away - you should be convicted of neglect? It’s the same logic you used. You should have kept your child in the house, right?
The cat was on the owner’s property. That should have been enough. Whether inside the house, on a balcony, or watching people in the yard, it doesn’t really matter, does it? Same goes for cars, trucks, people, whatever. If it’s on your property, other people shouldn’t take it.

Your animal should not be running lose, period, it does not know where your yard starts are stops. Whether someone took it are someone ran over it it is all the same, either one could happen.
And that has happened to children as well. And you used the term convicted of neglect not I. I said children have been removed for neglect.

Ahem. I have a low fence around my courtyard, and my cat *does* know where my property is. He shows no interest in going outside of it whatsoever.
There is also a device known as an “invisible fence” which is quite effective at keeping your animals inside your property.

Would you ever keep a dog inside 24-7? I doubt it. Would you walk your cat? I doubt it. You obvioulsy just hate cats...therefore you are irrational, unreasonable and cannot be objective.

Conservative believe in private property rights,So you admit you are not a Conservative because the personal property (cat) was stolen off private property.
You also admit to being a felon.(I use the three Ss method of animal control.) It is illegal to kill a pet when walking around minding it's own business. Do you shoot disease ridden birds too? I think you're pretty evil with a very black heart.

What, she couldn’t go to a shelter or find some kids with a box of kittens outside a store, begging someone to take one? She had to steal a cat out of someone’s yard? I wonder if this was somebody who knew Pumpkin’s humans and has a grudge against them and did it for spite.

Where I live we have a lease law, it is illegal to let your pets roam free. And anyone that lets their animal roam free should not be allowed to own the things. Second you apparently have no concept of private property. In the terms I used it your animal has no right to be on my property, not now not ever, what you do on your property is up to you. But keep your animals on your property. No big thing to understand. A good fence makes good neighbors.

Unless you can figure out how to tie one up you should keep it in the house, then I will not need to take anymore strays to the pound. Your dog, you can keep on a chain are in a fenced yard. However, have the thing worked on by the vet.
