John McCain Selects Alaska Governor Sarah Palin As Vice Presidential Running Mate
ARLINGTON, VA -- U.S. Senator John McCain today announced that he has selected Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to be his running mate and to serve as his vice president.
Governor Palin is a tough executive who has demonstrated during her time in office that she is ready to be president. She has brought Republicans and Democrats together within her Administration and has a record of delivering on the change and reform that we need in Washington.
Governor Palin has challenged the influence of the big oil companies while fighting for the development of new energy resources. She leads a state that matters to every one of us -- Alaska has significant energy resources and she has been a leader in the fight to make America energy independent.
In Alaska, Governor Palin challenged a corrupt system and passed a landmark ethics reform bill. She has actually used her veto and cut budgetary spending. She put a stop to the "bridge to nowhere" that would have cost taxpayers $400 million dollars.
As the head of Alaska's National Guard and as the mother of a soldier herself, Governor Palin understands what it takes to lead our nation and she understands the importance of supporting our troops.
Governor Palin has the record of reform and bipartisanship that others can only speak of. Her experience in shaking up the status quo is exactly what is needed in Washington today.
Works for me. Can anyone get to Drudge? It looks like it is crashed.
BTTT!!!! YAY!!
Thank God it’s someone we can rally around!
Wow!
This will make Hillary’s head explode.
Not so dumb after all, Senator McCain!
I think the democrats are absolutely going to flip.
Color me . . . unenthused.
I refuse to allow Obama to force me to vote for McCain - the latter backstabber will never have my support. With Palin, I will support the GOP ticket IN SPITE of McCain's presence on it. Palin puts 2012 into play for conservatism.
Few of the other contenders for veep are suitable. Perhaps only Sanford, aside from Palin, could get me to associate myself in any direct way with McCain. I truly loathe that man, and loathing Obama more makes McCain no more palatable (regardless of his recent election posturing) - I gotta get that off my chest before affirming my intention to support the GOP in November. Very good choice on Palin.
This is a great choice. I was a reluctant McCain voter — unless he picked Lieberman. But, my enthusiasm for McCain just went way up.
She’s smart, conservative, pro-life, female, and has more executive experience than Biden and Obama combined. She’s the only outside-the-beltway candidate, and the only candidate with executive experience. This should calm conservatives that were concerned about McCain, and will pick off a few pissed off Hillary supporters.
Democrats can’t attack her youth or inexperience, because Obama’s not much older, and has even less experience than her (and he’s running for the HIGHEST office). And, it mutes the “historic” effect of Obama’s candidacy.
This is a gutsy pick, and stands in stark contrast to Joe Biden.
Sen. McCain — this conservative is satisfied. You have my support.
H
So much for the gender gap.
A good portion of Hillary’s! speech at the DNC convention was about how far women’s rights have come and how her mom couldn’t vote but her daughter was able to vote for her. So Hillary! and her supporters should be totally psyched that a woman is going to be elected VP.
I just put my money where my keyboard is ... contribute now!
I’d give anything if Governor Palin would wear a pair of PUMA running shoes out on the stage today. That’s in your face!
I dare the libs to attack Governor Palin.
Women are already pissed at Obama and the MSM.
The attacks will push women into the waiting arms of the GOP.
CHECK AND MATE!
Yay! That’s nuking the moonbats!
