A few weeks ago, I noted a shift in polling data indicating that Barack Obama's stranglehold on the so-called "youth vote" was weakening. A Reuters summary of the latest Zogby poll confims the trend:
"Obama's support among voters between the ages of 18 and 29, which had been one of his strengths, slipped 12 percentage points to 52 percent. McCain, who will turn 72 next week, was winning 40 percent of younger voters."
Anecdotally, I can attest that several of my friends fellow twenty-somethings who were once quite enthusiastic about Obama have recently expressed disappointment in his campaign. "I'm so sick of reading headlines like 'Obama Slams McCain,' or vice versa," one told me. "I thought that this campaign would actually be different, but it's not. It's depressing."
The more Obama wades into the mud, the less transcendent he appears, and his Unity/Hope/Change message is exposed for the vacuous nonsense that it is. This data should be worrisome for Team Obama because their ultimate base is slipping away. Perhaps it's time for another super-hip will.i.am video.
Political involvement goes up with the various stages of adulthood:
First paycheck
Marriage
Homebuying
Children
School-age Children
Teenage Children
The more skin you have invested in the game. The more involved you get in protecting it.
Yep, but that is just because those "typical white" bowling pins wouldn't fall down for him. They were racist bowling pins.
The job is above his pay scale - and his EXPERIENCE, too!!!
Blindfolded, I could bowl better!!
I ain’t got no problem.
You sound like one of those typical people who cling to guns and religion. Your individualism shall be curtailed in the kingdom of the obamamessiah for the benefit of those not like you.
Thank God for absentee ballots.
I think they are just sick of Obama. He is now “so yesterday”. I think they thought he was cool and popular but he is fading in popularity so they are ready to move on. Bottom line: Obama is no longer cool. I think the media is getting tired of him, too. I look for them to turn to Hillary and start pushing her again. Obama is like the exciting new guy in school who is all the rage and all the girls lose their minds over him, but the glow fades and they gradually drift back to the old faithful boyfriend and their regular life.
They are consumer savy visually. Now, most kids still are not too savy when it comes to oratory...having to use their ears.
Yes, it is aleap year. Obama is leaping for change...the quarter, dime, nickel, and penny presidential candidate.
Damn,Have mercy.I’m just a dumb Southern Boy.
I stated for a year now, and it is becoming more and more apparent: I believe that the super long election cycle is going to very seriously hurt the turnout of marginal voters: and that means such as college students and other younger voters, for certain.
Hahaaha... Pelosi is delusional.
I cling to my Bible, especially when reloading, as it may be the last thing I see as I rocket towards the moon.
Is this the same “youth vote” that elected former president algor and former president frenchie? Just asking.
I think if I could try bowling a 37 I couldn’t, unless I put most of the balls in the gutter!!
Post of the Day nominee! ROFL!
They should have put up the gutter guards for him.
