TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran said on Monday it was ready to help fellow Muslim states launch satellites into orbit after it successfully put a dummy satellite into orbit -- a move that may increase Western suspicions over its atomic ambitions. ADVERTISEMENT

Iran said on Sunday it had put the home-grown dummy satellite into orbit on a domestically made rocket for the first time. The long-range ballistic technology used to put satellites into space can also be used for launching weapons.

Iran says has no intention to do so.

If you can put a satellite into orbit you’re most of the way to being able to launch, oh, I don’t know, ICBMs, right?

Whew...I feel better now. For a minute there I thought maybe they were spending billions to get a missile delivery system.

I'm not a rocket scientist, but I've got to ask: How can the Iranians do this, when private industry in the US (aka SpaceX) keeps launching rockets that are going 'kaboom'?

Perhaps Iran is the beneficiary of some other country's technology - say like Russia or China? I'm so happy that Obama wants to be President so everyone can 'feel' better. Why don't I?

China kept having the “kaboom” problem on their orbital attempts,

until Bill Clinton sold them the technology in exchange for campaign donations.

Obama would undoubtedly do the same, in order to show the Iranians that “we mean them no harm”.
