[Senator Obama] A falling rock star
The Lowell Sun ^ | August 7, 2008 | The Editors

Posted on 08/07/2008 3:11:20 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has seen his lead in Massachusetts and across the nation slip precipitously over the past few months, especially with older, more experienced, voters.

In June, Obama was ahead of Republican candidate John McCain by 23 percentage points, but this summer, Obama has been virtually bleeding support in the Bay State. He now leads McCain by only 9 percentage points here.

Nationally, Obama's lead varies on an almost daily basis. In recent days, he has been tied with McCain, ahead by 3 points and ahead by 1 point.

The fluctuating numbers come on the heels of Obama's much-publicized Middle Eastern and European tour, during which he was treated as visiting royalty by most officials while he made the mistake of portraying a potential president as a monarchist. The trip did help Obama's lead, but it didn't last long, particularly once McCain began a weeklong attack on the Democrat's so-called celebrity status. The McCain campaign ran an advertisement comparing Obama to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. It appears to have hit home with some voters.

But the roller-coaster numbers aren't due only to McCain's ads.

They are also directly related to Obama's roller-coaster positions on issues.

In recent weeks, Obama has changed his positions almost as often as he changes his designer suits.

He has switched his stance on oil drilling, suddenly deciding he would be open to limited proposals for offshore drilling. He recently declared he would be willing, after all, to tap the nation's Strategic Petroleum Reserves to lower the price of gasoline. And he has altered his position on withdrawing from Iraq, saying he will listen to advice from ground commanders. Frankly, the Democratic candidate's flip-flops are starting to give voters whiplash. They can't snap their heads back and forth as quickly as Obama can change his stances on crucial issues. But voters' pain may prove to be Obama's loss, if recent polls are any gauge of public opinion.

It takes a lot more than a good campaign slogan and a smooth speaking style to win the presidency. Obama may well learn that lesson the hard way.

But he already has his "presidential seal"...

That will be a collector's item some day.

It will be the ultimate symbol of arrogance. In fact, all illustrated dictionaries will have a picture of that seal as the illustrated definition of arrogance.

Yes, the State of Denial.

That must be one of the extra seven states, when he mentioned visiting 57 states...

“Obamalamadingdong will seal his own fate. I cannot wait for him to appear with McCain in an old-fashioned town hall style debate - the “uhhs” and “umms” will dominate everything he says.”

McCain asked for five town hall meetings with questions just from folks in the audience. At first, Obama said he would. However Obama changed his mind and will only do three debates with “reporters” asking the questions. So no town hall debates for Obama! He knows he would lose them all.

Someone should photoshop a wanted poster, by the DNC, seeking Obama’s accomplishments.

“Lil’freeper will verify that I had predicted long ago that McCain would win this election in a landslide akin to Nixon over McGovern and Reagan over Fritz Mondale.”

Concur.

Not that I'm a fan of McCain or anything, but I'm a pragmatic realist. In my opinion, O-blow-hard is going to realize a loss the likes of which has not yet been seen. A stone-crushing defeat. Something that will go down in the annals of history as “don't let this happen to you”.

He was crack cocaine for the MSM and whiny adolescent liberals everywhere ...... but over time it is harder and harder to get a decent ‘high’ anymore and the lows are just dismal......

(or so I’ve read - not speaking from experience!!)

WOULD YOU CATCH A FALLING STAR
Performed by John Anderson
Written by Bobby Braddock

You know the crowd was very small for a country music show
But he faked a curtain call, just like it was years ago
And then a lady grabbed his arm as he staggered down the aisle
And with all his country charm, he addressed her with a smile.

CHORUS
Would you catch a fallin’ star before he crashes to the ground
Don’t you know how people are nobody loves you when you’re down
Pick me up and take me home and I’ll bring my old guitar
Sing a golden oldie song, if you’ll catch a fallin’ star.

He had a silver plated bus and a million country fans
And now there’s just a few of us and he drives a little van
An’ they were beating down his door, the lovely women, left and right
And now he’s on the hardwood floor, a-wonderin’ where he’ll spend the night.

CHORUS
Would you catch a fallin’ star before he crashes to the ground
Don’t you know how people are, nobody loves you when you’re down
Pick him up and take me home and he’ll bring his old guitar
Sing a golden oldie song, if you’ll catch a fallin’ star.

Would that make a difference if Romney wereon the ticket?

Sure. Putting Flipper on the ticket would get Obambi's lead right back up to 23%...

So no town hall debates for Obama! He knows he would lose them all.

McCain ought to opt out of the Big Three debates, as they will surely be rigged against him, insisting instead that brocco meet him in the town hall format, as originally agreed. If the messiah refuses, McCain can go ahead and debate the empty chair (with, as some have suggested, an empty suit draped over it).
