Just spoke to her staff..she is still there on the house floor:)
I just called and said "There's a Republican revolt going on int the House Chamber and I wasn't seeing much coverage of it." I got a run around on it. Was told several times "There are no cameras on now. Cameras are not allowed." I objected, politely, that the story could still be covered.
He seemed mildly irritated that I would question that and asked if I wanted to talk to (name garbled) and I said yes. Got a phone tree that led to leaving a recorded message. I did...
"There's a Republican revolt going on in the House Chamber. I understand that the cameras are turned off. You can still cover the story. Thank you."
Did you see the letter they sent to the White House asking him to call an emergency session? It’s on this thread.
Duhh....
Yes..I know that!
>>Nothing stops them from coming back again on Monday and starting all over again, right?<<
Exactly!
That’s what we should all be consentrating on.
Email, call and fax these brave reps. Get them back if Bush does nothing.
I really hope Bush does it. I have low hopes, but it would be the right thing to do.
To all you whiners who think the reps caved by going home at 5, they were without lights, the doors were being locked so they couldn’t leave for food or drink. Would you have stayed? This was a great show of force and it still is. Grow up whiners and see this for what it is, a great moment in history. If they don’t follow through and this, and I think they will, then you can call them wimps and say we are screwed but not because they didn’t want to sweat to death in the dark.
If the Pres and Reps think the people will back them, they’ll go the extra mile and do what’s right. The Nov election is a huge club to use.
She didn't need to. Let the Repubs have their little party, and they bolted at the stroke of 5.
Next week nobody will remember this.
What state was McCain a governor of?
It is time for President Bush to take on the "do nothing, good for nothing" DEMOCRAT CONTROLLED Congress.
Call them back for special session to deal with energy. Make Pelosi and Reid miss their summer vacation. Do it!

Thank you.
Or be carted out by Nancy’s goons for loitering. She called the session, they were not officially there.
Better they start again Monday.
I combined my Maryland “Freak State”, Global Warmin, Trans-Texas Corridor, and General PING lists for this MEGA-PING. IIRC, you’re on the Maryland list.
His opening was just an announcement; further discussion later, fairly objective, this is what happened kind of thing. The panel later discussed .. Fred Barnes said it was a stunt but sometimes stunts work. I think what the R’s did today was WELL worth it. If nothing else, as you can see just by browsing this thread, it’s energized ‘the base.’
It was a noble gesture on their part, but aside from a little public exposure, I'm not at all certain they effected anything.
No vote was taken. Nancy stood her ground and got her way - more power for her?
I agree. While I’m not sure it was a great moment in history I do think it could develop into a great campaign plank that might significantly aide conservatism in the Fall.
Certainly nothing to whine about, imho.
Perfect chance to kick him in the butt!
Who knows?
But I’m not going to get upset until it plays out.
Amen!
This was priceless. Oh, I wish it was televised.
