Is Barack Obama Too Naive To Be President?
Slate.com ^ | June 5th, 2008 | Fred Kaplan

The question of the moment: Is Barack Obama too naive to be commander in chief?

Now that Obama is the presumptive Democratic candidate, this is the line of attack that John McCain is aggressively pushing. In part, this is because he doesn't have much else to run on. In part, it's because there's video footage, from the Democratic primary contests, of Hillary Clinton making the same accusation.

So is there something to the charge?

The notion stems from the Democrats' CNN-YouTube Debate of July 23, 2007, when a viewer named Steve asked the candidates whether—in the spirit of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat's bold trip to Jerusalem—they would be willing to talk with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba, and North Korea "without preconditions" during their first year in office.

To the surprise of many, Obama answered, "I would." Clinton countered that she would not make such a "promise" (though Obama didn't either—the question was whether he would be "willing"). After the debate, she went further and called Obama's response "irresponsible and, frankly, naive." A presidential visit is special; it shouldn't be undertaken unless the outcome is all but known in advance.

Even some of Obama's own staff asked him after the debate whether he wanted to retract the remark. No, he told them, he meant what he said. He clarified later that there would have to be an agenda—he wasn't keen on talking for the sake of talking—but "preconditions," which means a great deal more, shouldn't be required.

On Tuesday, hours before Obama clinched the Democratic nomination, McCain, signaling the start of the general election, told a crowd in New Orleans, "Americans ought to be concerned about the judgment of presidential candidate who says he's ready to talk, in person and without conditions, with tyrants from Havana to Pyongyang."

I find the messiah is not only naive ... but stunningly stupid when he’s not reading from a teleprompter. I had no idea Harvard has an affirmative action graduation path.

Naive is a nice way to call someone stupid. Although unless McCain figures out where those 7 extra states are, McCain could be in big trouble in the general election.

He isn’t naive. He is ignorant and wrong headed and hateful.

But if Slate is starting to question IF he is the wrong candidate, they should have been asking these questions in JANUARY 2008.

Obama's ardent followers are not swayed be logic, reason, or truth. To them, regardless of his positions, his gaffes, his past, or his associations, he is an idol.

Nothing you can say or do will convince these people otherwise...

Because I am the one they and I have been waiting for...and I am lovin' it.

Those wild eyed people represent the millions of Americans raised in the government day-care and indoctrination centers we call public schools who did not have, or would not listen to, parents and others who tried to counterweight the garbage they heard at school...who have been raised on 60 second sound bite time spans and know no better.

You have other tens of millions on the dole who will vote for him regardless of position because he promises to keep pilfering the public largess for them.

Still othes of millions will vote for him simply because he is black.

Other millions will vote for him because they know exactly who he is and what he represents and agree with his anti-American positions.

The first three are all what is termed, useful idiots, a term coined by Lenin for the dupes he got to support him.

Against this it is left to us to educate, arouse, and amass the tens of millions of Americans who understand and hold fast to the foundational principles our constitutional republic rests upon...many of them the bitter, rural Americans clinging to their guns and religion that Obama so arrogantly spoke of.

Finally, note this comparison:

A populsitic, charismatic, self-serving individual has a way of mesmerizing foolish people looking for an idol...then and now.

Barack Hussein Obama is the apex of the hate-America, domestic enemy in this country. His election as president would be the greatest coup any enemy has ever scored against this country and could easily lead to the worst, horrific disaster in our nation's history.

THE AUDACITY OF TRUTH ABOUT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA

Slate is not questioning Obama, they’re defending Obama. Here’s the last paragraph of the article:

“Either way, not only was Obama’s remark not naive; it reflected a more instinctive understanding of the post-Cold War world than either of his opponents seem to possess.”

Memories are short I know, but many comments were made about Bush being naive in 2000.

Anyone would be naive when first elected president.

I’ll bet the founding fathers were considered naive in their endeavors!

Here is what I would like to know about:

Well first, He’s so naive that he didn’t know about Rev Wright for 20 years. Secondly he was too naive to know about Bill Ayers, then Pfleger.

But he was also apparently naive about REZKO.
If someone cannot afford to purchase a piece of real estate or a house that they really want AND
they are a political figure that has decision making powers.
AND
someone purchases a piece of the real estate at full price or above full price and then turns around and sells it to you at a loss or gives it to you in order for you to be able to get the real estate in the first place. What does one expect in return for this arragement?
Is this not called a conspiracy? technically?

Did Obama not participate in a conspiracy to enter into this arrangement? Is there not several oversight laws in the state of Illinois that prevent such transactions?
Was Obama too naive to understand these things or was he a part of a bribe? Which was it?

And
Why is the press not askng him which it was?

Is Barack Obama Too Naive To Be President?

He is both "too" many things, and "not enough" many other things.

Cold War I maybe.

Naive?

Hell, that's the LEAST of the problems with Obama!

Corrupt black racist, suspect Islamist, Surrender Monkey, Disarmament champion, Tax and Spend zealot, Reparations hero, Welfare hiker, Leftist/Marxist, America hater - who wishes to CHANGE it to Amerika.

Naive — hell no — anyone who thinks Obama is naive is the one suffering naivety.
