American Airlines’ new bag policy discriminates against women, because most women will have to check their bag while men will not. As an example, here are the non-solid products my husband and I take when traveling:
My List: Shampoo, Cream Rinse, Body Wash, Body Lotion, Spray Perfume, Toothpaste, Mouthwash, Contact Lens Solution, Glasses Cleaner, Face Cleanser, Toner, Facial Night Cream, Moisturizer, Sunscreen, Vaseline Lip Therapy, Hand Cream, Mascara, Lipgloss
My Husband’s List: Shampoo, Cream Rinse, Toothpaste, Mouthwash, Glasses Lens Cleaner
Since we are required to put our lotions in a quart bag if we want to carry them on board, it is clear that my husband’s items will fit into a quart bag, while mine will not. Thus, I have to check the bag with my items, while he can carry his on. I will have to pay a $25.00 fee, while he will not. Cutting down the number of items I take is not an option because I have very dry skin and it is exacerbated by travel.
Most women use about 3 times as many products on a daily basis as men do. American Airlines’ policy is an example of discrimination against women who have no choice but to check their bags.
That’s ridiculous. If women want to be treated the same as men, then act the same as men.

You carry all this crap on board for what reason? I have to fly about 30 times per year and have never noticed a shower nor a tanning deck on the plane. Jeez, just put the stuff in your luggage.
Well boo hoo! Are you just looking for something to complain about? Is that your only problem in life?
Your husband should do what I do: “That’s OK, Honey, I don’t need any of that stuff, I’ll just borrow some of yours.”
It's much simpler than that: they make more money by charging you $25 than by not charging you $25.
If this causes my wife to leave behind about ten items of clothing that she’s never going to wear on the trip, so she can fit all her toiletries in the suitcase, I’m all for it.

This hurts family vacation-goers in a bigger way than women alone. Family of four checking one bag each is $120 extra (round-trip). Another bag or two at $40/per (golf bags, skis, what have you), and it’s $280 extra.
My question is why American would so aggressively enact a fee that would turn people off instantly. Why not charge for cabin pressurization while they’re at it?

American Airlines is a TURD of an airline...will NEVER use them under any circumstance.

The rest is provided by the hotel. Besides, cream rinse? give me a break. Lens cleaner? use a clean tee shirt.
I’ll gladly pay an extra $15 so my wife can take her vacuum cleaner and her little french maid outfit.
Protesting the policy is one thing. Calling it discrimination is another. This is not discrimination by any stretch of the imagination. If a man carried all that stuff, he’d have to check it as well. There are plenty of metros that do.
Why do you feel the need to carry it all on board the plane with you? You are checking a bag. Put your stuff in the already being checked bag, and the problem is solved. You may have to take one fewer pair of shoes to make space, though.
Why are you carrying so much crap? If I dont want to check a bag I carry a toothbrush, comb and deodorant. I can pick up the other stuff at my destination, usually right in the airport too.
Together, my wife an I weigh well under 300 lbs combined. Yet we have to pay extra bag and extra weight fees while the tub-o-lard spilling into the seats we paid for is responsible for far more total weight.
I say price the ticket by a formula that includes a component per seat occupied, a per bag charge based on the cost to pay for the handling, and a weight fee proportional to EVERYTHING you bring on board, including self, checked bags, and carry-ons.
The ticket might be priced to include weight below a certain threshold.
For a discount cross-country round-trip, you might pay $500 for the seat plus the first 200 lbs, and a dollar a pound above that paid at the airport when you step onto the platform in front of the ticket counter with all your stuff.
Or maybe $300 for the seat plus a buck a pound starting at zero.
Fat people might avoid an airline with that pricing, and the rest of us would flock to it.

I think the policy violates the ADA because it discriminates against boozers.
You can no longer bring in cheap duty-free booze if you have a connecting domestic flight, because the only way to do that is to risk breakage in your checked bags.
Think I have a good case?

LOL... People wondering what I am laughing about, but my first thought was -
Women pack too much WAR PAINT.
My point is, why couldn't the airlines just have raised the price of everyone's fare $10. It would have accomplished the same thing and have been really less aggravating.
Im not married to you, why should I have to pay 10 bucks more so you can carry stuff on board that you cant use until the plane lands?
