SUE, SARAH, SUE

May 27, 2008 -- The polar bears are doing just fine, thank you very much.

So says Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who announced last week that her state would sue to block Washington from listing the animals as "threatened" under the Endangered Species Act.

And it's a good thing, too - because the new bear-population protections mask what may be the most serious threat to American economic might in decades.

Yes, polar bears.

The polar bear, you see, marks the first species on the "threatened" list whose supposed predicament is linked directly to global warming.

The current Alaskan polar-bear population may be near an all-time high.

But Interior Department computer models - such as they are - project widespread melting of the polar ice the bears need to hunt.

And that's a big problem, given the near-limitless powers embedded in the Endangered Species Act.

The only reason polar bears are suddenly "endangered" is to prevent oil exploration. Sue, Sarah, SUE!

Yes! Sarah is now my hero, because she’s willing to stand up the the environmental morons in Washington, inside and outside the EPA and Congress.

Yes, and they ruin a perfectly good pelt in the process.

Let’s start a campaign. Even better, she would outrage the Washington establishment, which is a self-centered pile of excrement.

I’d love to see her as VP. That’d put the screws to Hillary, LOL!

Why no call for putting the opossum on the “endangered” list? I mean, they’re moving north at an alarming rate, losing their “homeland” obviously due to Global Warming, too. *SMIRK*

Armadillos must be on someone’s list. I see more and more of them smashed on the highway around here...

When Alaska was first purchased from Russia it was called Seward’s Folly by critics of the deal. I propose we now call it Gore’s Folly. Why did we even buy it if not for it’s natural resources?

I think she’d be a fantastic VP for McCain - she’d solve a lot of his problems on many fronts.

Carbon Dioxide does not cause global warming.

No more than night mists over swamps cause malaria.

The congruence of two factors does NOT infer that the presence of one caused the other. It is only a surmise that increased presence of CO2 CAUSES atmospheric and hydrospheric warming.

The reverse, however, that warming (by other means than inplied by the alarmists) causes the CO2 content of the atmosphere to INCREASE, has plenty of observational evidence to support that conclusion. Consider, for example, the common carbonated drink that many people enjoy consuming. Which way is it better, served warm or cold?

When it is COLD, the CO2 is retained in the water. When it is WARM, the CO2 escapes (to the atmosphere, naturally), and the drink becomes “flat”. Similarly, warm oceans are “flat”, cold oceans retain CO2.

Warm oceans exude CO2, CO2 does not warm oceans.

Carbon dioxide is plant food.

"Yes, and who did this? The Bush Administration!!!"

No. Congress - after a FEDERAL JUDGE, a Clinton appointee, forced the Department of the interior to "stop dragging it's feet" on listing the polar bear...as though "the debate was closed". Which it wasn't, and it isn't.

I know the president is a convenient whipping boy around here, but if you're going to blame somebody, at LEAST blame the guilty.

"Why did we even buy it if not for it’s natural resources?"

I guess we're supposed to be preserving those natural resources now. God only knows whom we're preserving them FOR. Nobody's ever gotten around to explaining that.
