Some trails and campgrounds are still under several feet of snow, keeping them closed, in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.
Officials said of the 34 campgrounds normally open for Memorial Day, 24 will be open for the holiday weekend. Snow covers the other 10 and most of the trails.
"We had unprecedented snowpack this year and above 2,000 feet elevation you will encounter continuous snowfields, or lower, if the area is shaded," said Rodney Mace, a forest recreation staff officer.
Campground openings that have been postponed include Silver Springs until May 30, and the following until June 13: Denny Creek, Miller River Group, Beaver Creek Group, Coal Creek Group, Wiley Creek Group, North and South Bayview, Mineral Park, and Silver Fir.

Unprecedented snowfall is NOT caused by climate change, formerly known as Global Warming, it's just a natural occuring event. I wonder if the parks department can tell us the last time they have to delay opening the parks due to excess snow.

When I went to
"Jim Butler Days" in Tonopah, NV in 1988 there was plenty of snow. Funny how the Vegas
Review Journal failed to mention it. I sure as heck bet it makes news now. Climate change don't ya know.
(It was memorial day weekend) Phhhttt.

It’s a good thing “Global Warming” is in effect. I can’t imagine how much snow there would be without it.

This is caused by global warming, as are all tornados, hurricanes, droughts, freezes, rainfalls, earthquakes, volcanos and ...

Climate change don't ya know. And just west of Tonopah here in the Sierra, new snowfall closed Tioga Pass into Yosemite Park yesterday, just three days after it opened for the "summer" season.

I had a real fun time playing
War Games in NV and my trip to Bishop was spectacular. (Needed a Couch)
I really enjoyed the region. Mammoth lakes seemed quite volatile though. :^)

AGW theory is extremely robust with respect to data. All observations confirm it with probability 1.0.

well I can wish? You just may get your wish. The sunspot cycle is dragging out. There are still a few from the old cycle, and very few from the new one. The longer the lag time, before the old one ends and the new one takes over, the cooler the weather will be. I believe that's one of the reasons this winter was cold, long, and snowy, because there haven't been many sunspots since January, either from the old or the new cycle.

"(It was memorial day weekend) Phhhttt."When we moved to Southern Minnesota in 1997, it snowed during our first night there--Memorial Day dawned with about four inches of soggy snow.

Opening day in Chama NM on Saturday. The train stalled due to the depth of heavy, wet snow. Crew first tried shoveling the rails then cut the engine loose to break trail by itself. It returned an hour later with more sand and a full water tank. First time in the 37 year history of the tourist RR that opening day has had snow!
