Impeachment recommendations for AG Marc Dann coming Friday at earliest

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio House Republicans say recommendations on how an impeachment process against Attorney General Marc Dann would proceed won't be coming until Friday, at the earliest.

Ohio House Speaker Jon Husted has asked state Rep. Bill Batchelder, a former appeals court judge, to review the process and determine the standards that are necessary for an impeachment.

Ohio House Minority Leader Joyce Beatty has also appointed three Democrats to look into a possible impeachment.

Lawmakers on both sides say they are proceeding cautiously because Ohio has not seen an impeachment in nearly 200 years, and they would be setting a precedent for perhaps centuries to come.

Lawmakers and top state leaders in both political parties have called for Dann's resignation after he admitted Friday to an affair with a subordinate that he said contributed to an atmosphere where sexual harassment was permissible.

Dann has rebuffed those requests and refused to resign.

“Name The Party” - Another negative article on a Democrat, with no explicit party affiliation.

Makes you wonder if any one voting DemO - Rat knows who and what they are voting for! Well except for skin shade and a feeling of some Jessie or Al imposed guilt!

If all third political parties really want a decent example as to why they can’t make any serious inroads politically against both the Republicans and the Democrats, then they should look at Ohio’s ongoing political “mess”. The Republicans there had their problems, and now, it’s the Democrats there that are having problems. Despite all of the problems in Ohio with both D’s and R’s, the majority of voters there still won’t vote third party as a serious political alternative.

Lawmakers and top state leaders in both political parties have called for Dann's resignation after he admitted Friday to an affair with a subordinate that he said contributed to an atmosphere where sexual harassment was permissible.

Let's parse this a bit, shall we?

"He had an affair with a subordinate." An "affair" means more than one time, and by mutual consent, i.e., the lady was ready, willing and able.

He "contributed to an atmosphere where sexual harassment was permissible". He contributed. No where does it say he established and singularly maintained said atmosphere. And just how, specifically, did he contribute? That being the case didn't she likewise contribute to said atmosphere? She is libel to official prosecution?

Politics is a smash mouth game. It's therefore pretty much a given this is guy has political enemies. Does this gal factor in? If so, how? To what degree? Would her past [viz. office politics] stand up to similar investigation(s) as his? Which is the closer category for her: Anita Hill or Ellie Mae Clampett?

Frankly this sounds like a hatchet job on this poor SOB. I'm not defending him in the least, but like I said before politics is smash mouth game.

Until recently, Republicans held all but one statewide elected office. Corruption, incompetence, excessive taxation and spending, and little respect for the right to keep and bear arms got a lot of them booted out of office because they lost the support of their base.

The Republican Party in Ohio is run by RINOs, and they actively work against conservative candidates. Too few conservatives bother to vote in primaries and it's hard for conservative candidates to gain the prominence they need to run for major offices with the party leadership against them.

While the Republicans are even worse choices, I can understand way many Republican voters just couldn't support the RINOs anymore.

It would be nice if the party would do some house cleaning, but I don't have a lot of hope. Those in power in the party are too well entrenched.

Maybe the AG that replaces Dann will aggressively go after corruption, and some more of the idiots in power in the Republican Party will be among those that go down along with a generous helping of Democrats, and then the party can rebuild.

Marc Dann deserves all he is getting. He has a track record of incompetence in running his office.

The Dems in his own party are calling for his impeachment, not for anything he has done, but because it will cause political problems for themselves (first) and their party (second).

The Republicans want it both ways. They want to rail on him now by calling for him to leave office, but they also want Dann to remain in office so they can use him against others in November's election.

The issue is not Dann & his affair.

It's the people he's hired & what they've tried to get away with - sex harrassment, wrecking state autos while probably drunk & not reporting the damage, trying to torpedo investigations, etc, etc.

The affair is the icing on the cake.
