It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. Welcome to TGIF at the Finest!   We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. "Wear Red" Friday

You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Time goes fast doesn’t it. We have things here I look at ugh, I say, I can’t believe we didn’t get to that yet too. :) Once the pup is gone I can get back to painting. I need to get 2 rooms done fast so I can quickly get back to working outside.

I must have slept 12 hours last night! It is a misty day here..

I have been out checking to see if I can reach a stem of pink dogwood to cut and bring in..I am going to have the best bloom in years but up high and out of reach..I have been thinking this tree was going to die for years because of the dead branches I have had to cut out..but it hangs in there.

Dogwoods are such beautiful trees. The blooms will make such a lovely arrangement for inside. I planted 2 little ones last year. About 4 feet tall now. Believe it or not I purchased them at Kmart. ;) They are very healthy. I think I'll have to wait 2 years for blooms though.

It takes awhile for them to get going. The one I have was here when I bought the housee..and much smaller then.A neighbor said it came from Arkansas..My neighbor’s white dogwood is blooming ahead of mine..It has grown so much.

I used to stop on a farm to market road when cutting over to a major freeway and cut wonderful bouquets of white dogwood growing wild and take them to my daughter...They widened the road and I no longer had that bounty to bring.

I bet your daughter loved those beautiful dogwood bouquets you would bring her. Kind of sad to think they took them down. The one I planted at the other house was just starting to bloom each year. At least, I did get to see it the spring before we moved. Hopefully, these will grow fast.
