A U.S. soldier stands guard near a sign that reads "Stop; an official checkpoint authorized by the Iraqi prime minister and Baghdad's operations chief" on a road during a patrol in Salman Pak, Iraq 18 February 2008.

Just across the street another sign was held by protestors that read "Allow; an official checkpoint by the Iraqi prime minister and Baghdad's operation chief."

It appears that they ain't cooking salmon at Salman Pak.

U.S. forces patrol on a road in Yousifiya in south Baghdad February 19, 2008. Iraq's military said eight policemen were killed in eastern Baghdad on Tuesday as they tried to defuse a series of rockets that had been prepared for an attack.

The real problem for U.S. Forces will be the security for the Donkey Party National Convention according to reports due to Super delegates and Clinton political machinations.

A donkey walks past a U.S soldier standing guard on a road during a meeting with local tribal members in Yousifiya in south Baghdad February 19.

In Iraq, having a donkey cross your path is considered to be a serious indicator of bad luck to come.

U.S. soldiers unload sandbags as they build their new outpost, Carver, in Salman Pak, about 25 miles south of Baghdad. Salman Pak had long been a haven for al Qaeda, whose bombers used it as a springboard to launch car bomb attacks on Baghdad. But thanks to a combat outpost set up a year ago and then with help from Sunni Arab tribal leaders who turned against the militants, U.S. officers say security in Salman Pak has improved. The additional outpost is being built on the outskirts of town to make sure those gains are not lost.

Hey Private, be careful with those sand bags. This is premium sand imported all the way from that other desert over there by Tuna Pak.

A U.S. soldier holds a shovel as he works at the new outpost, Carver, which is being built in Salman Pak.

The U.S. Army recently introduced its new "State of the art" M1A1A1 Manual Fetch and Hurl implement with the distictive red handle for use in Forward Operating Areas.

An American soldier holds a defensive position on a patrol in central Baghdad, Iraq, Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008.

Keeping the guns aimed on China goods might just be the most defensive posture of all for our Troops.
