Romney out. Congratulations Freepers on ensuring there was no conservative in the race. (Vanity)

Posted on 02/07/2008 9:51:12 AM PST by mbraynard

You rallied behind someone who never had their heart in the race and was never a leader in their life (Thompson) or never had a chance in hell (Hunter). What is needed more than anything to win the WH is a drive to do the spade work necessary to get there. So by denying Romney victory in IA and NH and SC, and splitting the field, you now have probably the worst enemy of all - someone the Wonderful Mr. Jim Robinson never saw fit to put a 'truth file' on.

So, nice work.

The conspiracy theory crap about Hunter has to stop. He ran a campaign that made Fred’s look like the greatest campaign ever.

There's no conspiracy theory. It's as simple as this. If Rush, Hannity, Hewitt, Levin, Ingram, etc. had given Hunter the kind of support that they gave Rudy/Romney or promoted him as the "alternative to McCain"--his campaign would have done a lot better. The campaign would have attracted more big-name firepower and more money.

As it was, he ran it on a shoe-string with almost all volunteers and political amateurs and had to fight tooth and nail just to get mentioned with Rudy and Romney on the big talkers.

You may have missed the part where Romney signed away any chance he had of winning this nomination:

Kennedy surely approves of him here, though.

You would think that someone who does what you do would be a bit smarter than you are.

Fred Thompson left the Senate after he ended his term. Not before it was over.

You ignorant dolt.

No wonder your polls are always wrong!

No courage Rush. Your bully pulpit has too many conditions.

I've been listening to him for nearly 20 years. I could have picked out the candidates he supported the most 15 years ago.

Anyone but the 'mind numbed robots' could know who Rush would vote for.

Why is it so hard for the Romney camp to see that the voters just couldn’t find him believable as a conservative?

Ever hear of Youtube? Those videos had more effect than all the money Romney could throw at this race.

We didn’t buy his recent conversions. He wasn’t believable. Sorry that is so hard for you in the beltway to understand. It takes a real record and time to get your creds in the conservative arena.

I will say this, I have noticed something about Romney. It seems that people who have met him in person find him to be the real deal. Maybe he is. But he just doesn’t come across that way on TV. The best example of that is K-Lo at the Corner. She met him and that was it. Nothing he could do would have made her believe that he was not a conservative. Romney biggest mistake was thinking he could repackage himself as a conservative, and that we would buy it. That works in business, not politics.

“The idea of a sytem in which everyone...EVERYONE...gets a gubmint”

You mean like Romney offering to bail out the auto industry when he campaigned in Detroit? Do you mean that gubmint?

Romney came off as arrogant, as does most of the Thompson supporters did/do on this forum.

Huckabee is still out there and most of these arrogant republicans are still telling him to sit down and shut up, even though he has demonstrated the most ardent support for social conservative values during this entire race.

Mitts problem wasn’t us. Romney failed because he was for abortion before he was against it. He was for gay marriage before he was against it.

He was John Kerry flopping in the other direction.

Either you’re not serious or you just don’t know what the words “the legal way” actually mean (according to law, you can’t become a legal resident unless you return home first and apply).

Romney has always been for legal immigration, never pro-illegal immigration. But, seriously, you must know that already.

His record is strong and you’ve either been duped or you’re not really a conservative.

Citation, please.

Sure: www.templeinstitute.org

They called it Megillat Bush - The Bush Scroll and it reads:

28 Tevet, 5768 / January 6, 2008

In the Name of the Lord, Eternal God

To The Honorable Mr. George W. Bush,

President of the United States of America,

Who comes seeking the presence of the Most High God, to Jerusalem, city of God, Divinely chosen site of the Holy Temple, eternal capital of our land, "the joy of the entire earth (Psalms 48:3)," may it be rebuilt and established speedily and in our days, Amen!

Esteemed Mr. George W. Bush, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal (Ezekiel 38:1), leader of the west!

Upon your arrival in Jerusalem you have the ability to make a declaration, as did Cyrus, King of Persia - whose memory is honored - who in the year 538 BCE returned the exiled nations to their lands and recognized the full right of the Jewish people to reestablish their Holy Temple, the "house of prayer for all nations" (Isaiah 56:7), and called upon them to return to their land,

And in the manner of Lord James Balfour of England, who in 1917, called upon the Jews to reestablish a national homeland in the Land of Israel.

And thus if you truly desire peace and benevolence, and you would be counted in the company of the truly righteous, we call upon you to declare to all the world:

The Land of Israel was bequeathed to the nation of Israel by the Creator of the world. Neither could I, as a son of my faith, nor the Muslims according to their faith, ever take away even the slightest grain from the Eternal's gift, which He gave to His people Israel, the eternal people. Thus I call upon all the nations to save themselves from certain doom, to return and recognize That this land is the exclusive rightful inheritance of the people of Israel, as is written in the Torah of Israel, which constitutes the very foundation of our faith, as well as that of Islam; and is the basis for the decisions of the community of nations. He who denies this truth endangers all life on earth.

I shall dedicate all my strength and resources towards settling the Jewish people throughout their entire land. I shall greatly encourage and empower the Jews all over the world to rise up to the Land of Israel and to settle it, to establish God's sanctuary in Jerusalem, to distance strangers from it and thus, I believe, I will be making a major contribution towards world peace.

I cannot simultaneously support the establishment of a foreign state for an alien nation in the Land of Israel, and I will not lend my hand to this wrong.

Or - Heaven forbid - you can choose the second option - to willfully aid in the destruction, under the guise of peace!

You certainly know what the God of Israel did to Egypt and Assyria and to all Israel's enemies from time immemorial: Do you imagine that you will be able to save yourself if you have come to implement a plan that intends to steal the land of "the people that survived the sword" (Jeremiah 31:1), and to cut off those who survived the Holocaust, to rob the land that was given to them by the Creator?

All of the peace treaties and initiatives which have been based upon the decisions of the government of Israel, indeed the entire Oslo process, and the 'Disengagement,' and the establishment of a terrorist state within the Land of Israel known as 'Palestine' - regrettably, all of these agreements are the result of a lack of sufficient faith in the Divine promises that the Lord made to the patriarchs of our nation, and all that is written in the Torah of Israel. Understand this well: the nations of the world cannot excuse their actions and their decisions on account of the weakness of Israel and her government. God ordained that the role of the nations of the world is to strengthen the nation of Israel. This will benefit all humanity and bring about world peace, as the prophets have foretold.

Do you imagine you can escape from the struggles in Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Egypt, and Lebanon, by offering up sacrifices of the Jews who are slaughtered daily by their enemies who speak of peace but live by the sword?

Upon your arrival in our land we would anticipate that you bring Jonathan Pollard home with you. Bring him home to Israel. He is an emissary of the State of Israel, and he acted on behalf of our people. Authorize his immediate release while you are yet in Jerusalem, before you return to the United States. This will be a positive step that will build confidence.

Remember our forefather Abraham, who pursued the world's four greatest kings in order to redeem his nephew from captivity. We cannot forget the deeds of our patriarchs, whose example guides us through every generation.

We are the loyal representatives of the Jewish people, the New Jewish Congress, and its court of law, the Sanhedrin, as well as the Temple and Temple Mount movements, but we merely reiterate herein what is public knowledge.

No government in Israel and no representative of the Jewish people has the power or right to alter, by even the slightest degree, our covenant with God and the words of our holy Torah, which are everlasting, as expressed by the prophets of Israel and even by the wicked prophet Balaam: "Then he looked on Amalek, and uttered his oracle, saying: 'First among the nations was Amalek, but its end is to perish for ever' (Numbers 24:20). Thus any desire, plan or agreement that challenges the eternal sovereignty and active possession of the nation of Israel over her entire land is utterly worthless, and has no basis in reality.

Therefore it behooves you to declare: "I, George Bush, Commander in Chief of the armies of the United States of America, will instruct all of my troops to protect the Divine rights of the nation of Israel, and remove from her any threat."

Before you is a choice: You can merit to eternal life, or be inscribed for eternal disgrace. Your fate and that of all those with you hangs in the balance of the destiny of our land.

"and you shall choose life!" (Deut. 30:19).

In Sincere Supplication - In the name of the Jewish people

Rabbi A Even Yisrael Steinzaltz, The Sanhedrin

Dr. Gadi Eshel, The New Jewish Congress

Rabbi Chaim Richman, The Holy Temple and Temple Mount Movements

And a hearty thanks to Mitt for trying to buy the election, thereby stealing votes from the true conservative, Fred Thompson. Also thanks for Mormons voting here in Nevada 95% for Mitt, showing their goal was a religious litmus test after all. And please thank Mitt for being a chameleon at every step, that surely helped his cause. I could go on, but I better get crackin building my bomb shelter somewhere in the Mountains.

Braynard’s a moron who is blaming conservatives for backing conservative candidates. He can get bent.

He reminds of one those stupid kids you went to Jr High with, that blamed everybody else for losing the game. It's over, Romney had no chance, because he is a NE RINO. He had no credentials as a conservative and had a difficult time with the truth.

Blame Rudy.

Giuliani could have split McCain's vote and made it possible for someone more conservative to win.

But Rudy didn't put up much of a fight and then quit -- dropping his suppporters in John McCain's lap.

Of course, there needed to be a conservative candidate in the race for that to work (and "a" means "at least and at most one" in this case).

Well, thank you, but we’re not fully out of the woods, yet. We still need to make sure he is not on the ballot with ole Crazy Johnnie. And if the GOP loses in November, we may have to go through this fight all over again in 2012. Making sure McCain chooses a real Conservative running mate like Fred or Mark Sanford - and if he is elected - ensures that Romney will never be able to darken our party’s Presidential primary ever again.

Wow. I can’t imagine what finding that out was like. Just wow. Unless of course you didn’t want children. My husband and I joke about this now but when we were dating and I said I wanted to have 10 kids or as many as I could have, he didn’t really say anything (but the look on his face was hilarious, thinking back on it). When we were bf/gf and talked seriously about the future he was all for 2 kids, tops 3. Heh, we have 4 :) After the first was born he was all mushy. Anyway, after the 4th, while still in the hospital, I made him promise me that the next time I wanted a baby, he had to say no and vice versa. 10 years later and we haven’t wanted another one at the same time. I had 4 high risk pregnancies and 4 c-sections so...

I work part time and probably soon full time because it’s way too expensive living in this area. We don’t want to move until the youngest graduates high school so we have to stay afloat somehow. It was always my choice and hope that I would never have to work outside the home - and being an engineer, you know my husband makes good money so we were able to have me stay home as long as we kept to a strict budget, etc. We hope all our girls get college degrees but I hope they can be stay at home moms if they want to. Seems it’s getting more difficult.

Just wow. I think I may have missed a post or two. My husband wasn’t catholic when we met and didn’t convert until about 5 years ago but attended Mass with me since we met in college. And, when we met he was a liberal dem, lol. Now I think he’s more catholic and conservative than I am :)

Wow, I finished reading your profile. Now I know why we chatted so well last night, lol. ITA on everything. And of course, because you’re funny.

Thanks for all the acronym help/schools, etc. She’s only a junior but this is a topic of daily conversation. She’s very focused and it’s time for course selection for next year and she has 5 electives, two of which are taken up by additional math and science classes. Same with the soph, who isn’t one of the *engineering mind* (she’s more like me that way) but excels in both those areas (unlike me). I convinced both to take accounting this year as an elective and both have been invited into advanced accounting 2 next year (as well as all the other AP/honors classes).
