You rallied behind someone who never had their heart in the race and was never a leader in their life (Thompson) or never had a chance in hell (Hunter). What is needed more than anything to win the WH is a drive to do the spade work necessary to get there. So by denying Romney victory in IA and NH and SC, and splitting the field, you now have probably the worst enemy of all - someone the Wonderful Mr. Jim Robinson never saw fit to put a 'truth file' on.
So, nice work.
No disrespect to you intended, but this is one of the most hilarious things I've read all day.
New Campaign Slogan: "VOTE MCCAIN!!! He'll be dead in a few years anyway!"
The sun will still rise in the east tomorrow morning and the day after and so on. Vent your feelings, go through the grieving process and then find what positives you can in the situation that the public has provided. No one person or group of people conspired or had the power to make this happen to you, Romney or any of the rest of us. Politics is a rough and tumble profession and those that participate know the consequences going in, if not they are destined to a lot of downers.
Enjoy the ‘sausage’ ...... Life will go on as intended.
To GAIN intelligence!
You pee down the collective leg of FR & JimRob, then duck for cover.
Over 200 responses to your drivel, and you haven't shown up to defend your lofty position.
Very heroic.
First of all, there was no conservative in the race after Thompson dropped out.
Second, No one here is buying the media talking points about “Thompson’s heart not being in it.” so sell that BS somewhere else.
Third, Romney (AKA) the self proclaimed defender of Roe v. Wade and Gay rights, Mr. “I’m not advocating a return to Reagan, Bush.” never had a chance. Those who bought in to the slick hair and multi-million dollar ad campaign instead of falling in line behind an actual conservative, now have only themselves to blame.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
I agree with you. Conservatives shot themselves in the foot on this one.
Did you know that, on Bush’s recent trip to the Middle East, the Sanhedrin presented President Bush with a scroll that called Bush the Chief Prince of Gog (Ezekiel 38)?
“What a miserable S.O.B. you are.
You pee down the collective leg of FR & JimRob, then duck for cover.
Over 200 responses to your drivel, and you haven’t shown up to defend your lofty position.
Very heroic.”
Worth repeating. What a freakin coward.
Mitt’s history, as opposed to his platform, was what kept me from supporting him. Is he more capable and dynamic and smarter than McCain? Sure. But I learned my lesson the hard way many times over that a man’s history (at least in a 10 year window) is a far better barometer than campaign promises.
That you were stupid enough to drink the Kool-Aid and believe there was any difference between McCain and Romney is YOUR problem.
The truth is if the conservative punditry hadn't stuck its nose in the race and tried to manipulate it, Mike Huckabee, a more conservative candidate that McCain or Romney, would have won the nomination.
To hope for McCain to die in office is unrealistic. Imagine the damage someone of his bad character and mental health can do.
W could have done it. He was standing at the crossroads of history, with a nation united in grief and righteous anger. He had a nearly unprecedented opportunity to move the country in the right direction.
Unfortunately, he's not terribly interested in conservatism. So he let history slip through his fingers.
See Ya! Start your own website? Half Awakes?
Oh please, a vote for a liberal is still a vote for a liberal, whether they have an “R” next to their name or a “D” and when you support liberal Republicans, you are sending a message to the GOP leadership and big donors that it’s okay if they move to the left. Romney, Huckster, and McCain are all way too liberal for a lot of us.
If his daddy had not given the boy a fortune to start with....
where would he be?
Nope.
Massage the state by state data any way you like, if all the Thompson votes had gone to Romney, unlikely, in SC he would have edged out Huck for 2nd, might have got those 5 delegates. That's about it.
You would have heard the same address you heard today.
You may not like to hear it, but as the best financed candidate in the race, he simply couldn't make the sale.
I've come to the sad realization that McCain is not a RINO. Before the flame throwers come out, listen to my explanation. How can somebody be a Republican In Name Only if the majority of the party is willing to vote for him? I would argure that I and the vast majority of Freepers are the real RINOS because we are conservatives. Conservatives are a small and decreasing minority in the GOP. The GOP is on the downslope toward being a slightly less liberal party than the 'rat party.
What has caused this sad state of affairs? It's not the good conservative majority Freepers. It's the non-conservative majority of the GOP willing to accept open borders, high taxes, huge nanny-state government, abortion, out-of-control goverment spending and First and Second Amendment infringements just so the guy who gets the presidency has an "R" instead of a "D" after his name.
There, I feel better now!
Optimism never dies. Should be the title of the next Bond movie.
