Carl Cameron says it'll become offical sometime later this week.

Oh well, we're doomed. Let's hope it'll be minimal damage until 2012.

Past few days, Huck in Texas at Norris’s ranch to raise money. Read somewhere Huck said he will make a decision after Florida primary. If he does poorly, he’s going to be out. The top counts should be McCain, Romney, Giuliani, in some order, which leaves Huck in fourth. He will likely be done then and hope someone will take him as VP.

If Giuliani becomes the candidate, he takes Perry for his VP; Perry is now in Florida campaigning for him. Don’t think McCain would have Huck, that leaves Romney. A VP is usually chosen who has bunches of electoral votes in his state to deliver to the presidential candidate. Look for the VP to come from one of those states.

Nope. Rudy is toast. No hope.

The only one who can stop John McCain now is Mitt Romney.
McCain is 1 in national polls, Romney is #2.
Rudy is now *4th* in the national polls. A Rudy win in FL would be a fluke that would not stop McCain. Besides, the polls now show Rudy is *3rd* in Florida. And prolifers and consrevatives like me are *fine* with that. As bad as McCain is, Rudy is a more flawed and compromised candidate in other ways that, like Huck, would split the party up.

Thompson pulling out helps Romney the most. Romney is the most conservative among Romney, McCain, Rudy, Huckabee.
A Romney win in FL sets Romney up to lead in delegates by a wide margin and to win in Cali and most of the west states, and share some of the other states too. He would then be leading after feb 5th and then 1 on 1 in remaining states, Romney beats McCain.

We have 2 scenarios: McCain wins Florida and then wins Feb 5, or Romney wins Floridan and above scenario plays out.

Florida is a truly winner-take-all state.

John McCain is no traitor. He has served his country with honor and distinction.

For all of you up in arms over McCain’s stance on the illegal immigration issue, here’s a question. If GW Bush were up for re-election right now, would you vote for him? Keep in mind, he was leading the charge on immigration reform, just like McCain.

You might not agree with McCain on everything, but never call him a traitor!

I came across this yesterday.

Posted: Mon Jan 21, 2008 7:53 pm Post subject: Mitt and Fred 2008

http://mittandfred.blogspot.com/

After months of campaigning, one thing is clear: Fred Thompson is a true conservative and an excellent candidate. He enhanced the race with his humor and simple honesty- and he helped keep the issues of illegal immigration, entitlement reform, and national security at the core of the debates.

However, after the first 6 primaries, one more thing is clear: Fred is not going to win the nomination. However, with his experience, popularity, and conservative credentials, Fred still has a lot to offer in this race.

Fortunately, Fred’s platform and personality work together perfectly to shore up the Republican establishment on a Romney-Thompson ticket.

Mitt is the only other guy left in the race that embraces economic, social, and national security conservativism. And, with Fred’s support in Florida, Mitt could secure the nomination.

Furthermore, their personalities come together nicely. Mitt is a genious and an energetic CEO. He is eloquent and handsome, and known for his ability to lead change in large organizations. He turned around major corporations, saved the 2002 Olympic Games, and helped turn around Massachusetts. He even put together a revolutionary Health Care Plan in Massachusetts without raising taxes. He is capable of solving our problems.

Fred has spent years dealing with Foreign Policy and Intelligence issues in the Senate. And, as he says, He is the guy that will sit on the other side of the table and stare our enemies in the eyes.

Mitt analyzes data and gives powerpoint presentations, Fred speaks from the heart. Mitt sprints, Fred walks.

Mitt is a wealthy, pedigreed, highly-educated Mormon. Fred is a homegrown Southern Christian. Mitt has big cities, the West Coast, and national support. Fred has the South.

It all comes together, and so do they. Mitt for President. Fred for VP. Real Republicans in 2008!

Your idea of having fun and mine aren’t exactly the same.

That's because I have a life. I don't spend my waking hours worrying about politics.

Hey I happen to live in Indianapolis, and I haven’t missed an election (local or primary or presidential) since I was allowed to vote at age 18. And I have consistently voted for the most conservative candidate I could find — so don’t go lecturing me that change begins locally. But after 30 years of voting Republican - both locally and presidentially - after 30 years of GETTING INVOLVED at the local level and the end result of 30 years worth of involvement and voting I’m left with a party full of rinos little different from liberal socialists democrats - I haven’t left the party - THE PARTY LEFT ME. And that’s not a whine - that’s FACT.

Don’t be surprised if Paul beats Rudy again.

If folks want to go the lesser of two evils route, I don’t think it makes a hill of beans worth of a difference if they pick any of the remaining candidate’s names out of a hat.

I’m not trying to be mean about it, but I am not seeing the shine that you folks seem to have spoted on Romney.

I have googled him and I have found enough to know that I want no part of him.

Good luck to you during the remaining political year. I appreciate your comments.

“They will cave and vote for any liberal policies for a RINO.”

They only do this because WE allow the left to drive the Media agenda that shapes what the Sheeple “Want”.

If anything, what’s going on right now on the Democrat side should show you that.

The Queen of the Homosexuals is in trouble, and the media is IGNORING the Vote Frauds (real or imagined), and the mud-slinging, while HELPING to frame OBama as an unwinable “Black Candidate”.

Too many people are acting like Fred Thompson was the second coming of Ronald Reagan. He wasn’t. He never claimed to be.

Like many, I had high hopes for him this past spring, but the fact is he didn’t seem all that interested in the job at any point up until that last debate, and by then it was way too late.

My only wish is that he not endorse anyone. Just get off the stage and go back to Law and Order.

I appeal that you folks think about Romney NOT in the context of “advancing the Conservative agenda” because I know you all don’t believe he will, but rather in the context of what is his image and what is very likely, or certainly true.

Yes by all means continue to toss Conservative principles out the window, as the GOP has been doing for years, and base votes on images. That's a great strategy. That rationalization is precisely why the GOP lost control of Congress and continues to move further towards the Socialist left.

FOX, in general, has been the official Fred Thompson coroner network since he entered the race.

They and all the other networks, including C-Span, dump on Romney just as bad. They raise up mcCAIN at every turn, in hopes that loser will become the nominee.

There are so many posts blasting Romney, non-stop... Would be great if JRob did another poll that shows who FReepers support, and includes “stay at home”, “3rd party”, and keeps Hunter and FDT in there, as I’m sure some will.
