Carl Cameron says it'll become offical sometime later this week.

Oh well, we're doomed. Let's hope it'll be minimal damage until 2012.

In personal view, Romney came across as dishonest (or unrealistic) during his stint campaigning in Michigan, declaring that he would help restart the automotive industry in Detroit, and suggesting the city would enter another vehicular Golden Age.

Extremely improbable. The number of global players has increased. The United States is becoming a smaller percentage of the market (so even if Michigan made Detroit more business friendly [de-unionized, for instance], Toyota and others wouldn't set up plants in droves in Detroit). And even taking in the field of robotics; more and more jobs can be more cheaply replaced by robots. The last one is for more than just the automobile industry. In the potentially coming years, many jobs could be eaten up by advances in robotics and computing. If that happens, then things will get tighter.

I don’t know enough about Evan Bayh

Well I do, he was my governor for 8 years. As Gov. of IN believe it or not he was fairly conservative. He did raise taxes as a typical dem will do and he's pro-choice, etc. but otherwise fairly conservative which is what the DNC will blare from the headlines if he's nominated as VP.

BUT, and here's the disclaimer from someone who DOES know him -- he went completely left-wing - all the way left-wing when he went to Washington. He became a lackey for the DNC and did whatever they told him to do, and ignored phone calls and letters from his constituents back home in Indy.

You cannot count on this man deviating in any way from mainstream demoncrats. He will be whatever they want him to be.

We are indeed doomed. Mitt thinks he’ll get Fred’s votes, but he’s not getting any from this house. Flame away but I’d almost rather the RATS take it this time and we can finally be shed of the Klintoons for good in another 4 years.

While that would be “hopeful”, it doesn’t seem likely, unfortunately. Tragic, indeed.

DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING DING!

...and a couple of RINO-inspired hit pieces in the early campaigns to become a "self-fulfilling prophecy."

NO cheers, unfortunately.

Tonight's assignment: find the stated position papers and records of the remaining RINOS candidates on

campaign finance reform
war on terror
war in Iraq
use of first strikes
Iran
support for Israel
pro-life
support for 2nd amendment
rolling back illegal immigration
returning to Free Trade instead of "the West is doomed anyway so let's accelerate the rise of rivals"
position on North Korea
outsourcing of key military technology to China
safety of imports from China
funding for advanced fighters
taxes
eliminating various unnecessary Cabinet positions (but I repeat myself)
gay marriage
hate crime legislation
making the Bush tax cuts permanent / extending them, too
combating voter fraud
pushing alternative energy
breaking stranglehold of environmentalists on US refineries
drilling for oil offshore / ANWAR
combating 'climate change' BS
keeping Gitmo & similar open
NOT giving constitutional rights to terrorists
treating war on terror as war not legal maneuvering
ability to resist Ted Kennedy's blandishments
willingness to cut capital gains taxes
ability to draft FRed as Veep

...for starters.

Cheers!

So rather than reashing old debunked hits on Mitt, tell us what is wrong with this ROmney speech:

This:

"Detroit can only thrive if Washington is an engaged partner, not a disinterested observer. The plan is going to have to include increases in funding for automotive related research "

This:

""I am not open to a bail out, but I am open to a work out. Washington should not be a benefactor, but it can and must be a partner."

This:

"Now of course we have to tackle the threat of climate change. But we don't call it America warming, we call it global warming"

This:

""Next, and you've heard this before, there is more healthcare cost in an automobile than steel costs. We got healthcare insurance premiums down in my state and we got everyone on track to be insured. We will work to do the same here and for the rest of the nation."

This:

" If we're going to be the world's greatest economic power, we also have to invest in the future. It's time for us to be bold. I will make a five-fold increase – from $4 billion to $20 billion – in our national investment in energy research, fuel technology, materials science, and automotive technology"

I'm trying to read this ENTIRE thread. It seems to me that you have posted the most well considered comments I've seen.

Thanks for a level-headed response to difficult events. I sincerely hope your POV wins out with conservatives and our Party.

Doesn’t make sense that the 2 conservatives in the race suddenly got out around the same time.

Republicans, in the long run would be better off supporting Hillary than McCain.

Republicans would be better off supporting the candidate that most mirrors their stand on the issues. There is no way that would ever be Hillary. That woman would finish the USA off. There would be no "long-term" with her in there.

Now that Duncan Hunter has withdrawn from the race, I have a case of Electile Dysfunction, the failure to be aroused by any of the other candidates in this presidential election.

McCain, Giuliani, Romney, Huckabee ---- not a conservative in the bunch.

You echo my thoughts on the subject exactly.

Yeah, and when Hillary appoints 2-3 three more Ruth Bader Ginsbergs we'll be a lot better off.

You are an idiot.
