A former Junior High School teacher in Havana pleaded guilty today to sexually assaulting one of his students.
46-year-old Tony Osing struck a deal with prosecutors to avoid going to trial next week.
The former Fifth Grade teacher is back in police custody after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a young boy over a three-year period.
In court, Osing admitted to performing oral sex on the student who had come over to Osing's home for help with homework. Osing pleaded guilty to two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. In exchange, five other felony charges were dropped.
Special Prosecutor Michael Vujovich says the negotiated plea deal was approved by the victim, now age 16, and the victim's parents.
"It is good that the victim will not have to testify."
Vujovich says the state's case against Osing was overwhelming because of an audio recording made by Osing. It was a recording of one of the sexual assaults, made as it was happening, in Osing's home.
Prosecutors say Osing threatened to play it for others and ruin the victim's reputation if he told anyone what happened. Angie Haarman, a former friend of Osing, discovered the recording last year and turned it over to state police.
Haarman says she came to Friday's hearing to gain a sense of closure from a case that has sent shock waves through this small town.
Osing is sentenced to spend the next 15 years in Prison. Under truth in sentencing law, he will do at least 85% of that time before he is eligible for parole.
A special prosecutor handled the case because Osing's father is on the Mason County Board.

Not saying what he did was right but how many female teachers are giving 15 years in jail for doing the same thing.

Your are right. Some of them, including that hot blonde teacher here in Flordia, should have been sentenced to many FR guy's homes for rehabilitation! :)
