Going Catholic could be the best thing that’s happened to Britain, as the Church of England has become a hollow shell of itself. You’ve got their archbishop saying things like “you don’t have to believe in the virgin birth”. A hollow church because it has hollowed out its beliefs.

Europe should barely be considered Christian today. There are just a bunch of agnostics walking around who believe that they were born into a religion and a culture.

And here's an article by the BBC's idiotic correspondent in the United States who is in charge of the United States blog: here. The man is a figurative moron, but has the gall to inaccurately report to an audience largely unknowledgeable about Christianity much less evangelical Christianity. The dimwit is infuriating not least because he is spreading his ignorance to others.

"...Married teachers have obviously preyed upon children..."

It's time that lawsuits targeted the "deep pockets" of teachers instead of the Church.

Let's see...whose "deep pockets" would the lawyers be into then?

MMMmmmmmm....Catholic girls BUMP!

Most Catholics I've met are non-denominational but devote Christians. We're long past the quibbles that made relations between other Christian sects difficult or impossible. I think the more mature amongst us have started seeing the situation as "United we stand..."

At least I hope so.

3% of Britain’s population fanatically call their sons “Muhammed”.

97% of Britain’s population give their sons an enormous range of names. Because they’re not fanatics.

“Muhammed” only gets the top spot because of the intellectual sterility of Muslim culture.

This means that the established Church has lost its place as the nation’s most popular Christian denomination after more than four centuries of unrivalled influence following the Reformation.================================================================================================================================================================================================================================

What can the Church of England do...

A tiny start would be to quit appointing atheists as bishops.

What can the Church of England do to win back worshippers?

Start by getting rid of the Queen Of Canterbury.

Then stop trying to be secular Unitarians.

Easy.

Free Clue: This stood for something.

Prior to Henry VIII, England was a Catholic country.

I thought that the Catholics had (in terms of mass attendence, if not baptisms) surpassed the C of E 20 years ago. Nevertheless, I am not surprised by this news.

BTW: Henry VIII was really after Church property ya know. Had not much to do with divorce or theology.

LOL!... Exactly right... England has worries and it's not the Catholics... Hopefully we are learning our lessons here in the U.S.

All I have is anecdotal experience, but the Anglican church behind our flat when we were visiting was pretty much empty on Sunday. The Brompton Oratory(Catholic) was packed and had an incredibly beautiful Mass with Gregorian chant.

Hardly surprising given the Anglican Church is more PC than Christian. Its a shadow of its former self.

Your view: What can the Church of England do to win back worshippers?

Uh, one of two things: 1.) At least pretend that it's still a Christian church and not a bunch of graying semi-druids who spend most of their time apologizing for Christianity. 2.) Swim the Tiber en masse.
