/begin my summary
- Six N. Korean ships were sunk by Sri Lankan Navy between Feb. 28 and late October of this year.
- They were shipping weapons for Tamil Tigers, which were designated as a terrorist organization by U.S. State Dept.
- Both N. Korean crews and Tamil terrorists were aboard the ships. They were all presumed to be killed.
- Sri Lankan Navy was able to sink them with the help of U.S., which passed on intelligence on the location of (N. Korean) ships in advance
- It is estimated that the repeated loss of the ships cost N. Korea $200 million.
- The ships were 250 ft long, carrying Chinese artillery guns, ammunition, light weapons, and small arms.
- Chinese arms manufacturer NORINCO has been selling weapons to N. Korea. However, it is not clear where the weapons on board originated.
- As of Dec. 13, State Dept. is still standing by their official position that N. Korea has not engaged in terrorist activities since 1987.

The weapons stuff—at least—from DPRK to LTTE (Terrorists) is pretty intriguing and pretty nefarious. It is reported to have had a retired Indonesian general involved, as well as some Singaporean middlemen. Lots of folks had their fingers in the pie, it would seem.

Technically, the North Koreans and U.N. are at war. I suppose it might be a technical violation of the Armistice agreement. Still, I like it. I’d go one further and make is all traffic in and out of NK.

LTTE must pay good money, if it draws in such diverse international casts.

Pissant, sorry to PING you and bug you, we are over here on a fascinating North Korean thread--some of us here in Asia up way past bedtime--but I am wondering if you can kindly get this thread over to Congressman Hunter's L/A running defense and terrorism issues for him, or somebody in the campaign, foreign policy-side stuff, who can run with it-or someone who might know those folks?
It would be much appreciated.
Feel free to FREEPMAIL me to coordinate further by reply. Thanks, pal.

The Sri Lanka Navy website says the arms were clearly from the Chicoms.

Good news and bad news.
Good news: Pretty good stuff on the North Korea-LTTE Terrorist connection--against the backdrop of Bush/Condi wanting to work a deal to get North Korea off the Terror List.
Bad news: It is in Japanese.
It is from the 10/10/07 issue of SAPIO.
The cover looks like THIS:
(See fat, happy little Kim up in the upper left corner!!?)
And the article is entitled:

One of their suicide bombers, a female, assassinated Rajiv Ghandi, the late Prime Minister of India.
She pretended to offer him a flower, got close to him, and set the bomb off at a public event.

Ramchandra Gandhi found dead in IIC
New Delhi: Dr Ramchandra Gandhi, a grandson of Mahatma Gandhi and renowned philosopher and writer, was found dead at the India International Centre, Delhi, on Wednesday.
His body was found in Room No 15 of the IIC. The cause of death was reportedly natural. Ramchandra was 70 years old.
“As there was no response despite several calls, the room was broken open and he was found lying on the ground. Perhaps he died of a cardiac arrest,” IIC secretary Venugopal said.

Yes, there is a gruesome video running on the internet just in the last few weeks, showing a female Tiger Tamil suicide bomber very recently going into a government office and setting off her belt.
Her torso is ripped right in half and you can also see the damage to the people sitting right near her, and the chaos that followed.
A bad nasty group.
With North Korean support.
But if Chris Jong Hill's guy staying in the Koryo Hotel in Pyongyang wires back that they are "cool", well, hey man, I guess everything is "cool" with the DPRKies! /sarc

Well who is giving N.Korea the money to purchase anything from anybody? Are we still sending them dollars under the Clintons adoption plan?

For anyone with a strong stomach who wants to learn a bit about the
North Korean-sponsored LTTE Tamil Tigers activity of recent in Sri Lanka, here is a short YouTube video. Hold on to your hats folks. Not for the weak, but for the informed. "It" happens at about 2m30s into the stream.

Here is your answer regarding the Administration-Democrat marriage--or at least courtship--made in HELL over North Korea these days--to open the spigot of $$$$$$ to Pyongyang, just like Clinton/Albright 1999. Read it, if you can stand it:
"U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Christopher Hill, center, and Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., left, speak with reporters on Capitol Hill in Washington on Wednesday, following a closed meeting of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on the Six-Party Talks./AP "
""Congress would approve reasonable sums of money needed to support the process, including $106 million that Hill requested as the U.S. contribution toward fuel oil that is being provided to North Korea as an incentive, she said. The U.S. State Department had reportedly asked Congress for initial funding of $106 million to give the North energy aid in the form of heavy fuel oil, shut down the nuclear facilities and verify the process under a Feb 13 denuclearization deal. But the offer is conditional on North Korea making a full declaration of all nuclear programs and stockpiles and explaining its alleged nuclear connection with Syria, Boxer said. Hill said, "We are hopeful that we will have the complete declaration provided by around the year-end." There will be an additional round of talks with North Korea in late December, he added. "

Yes I remember the ‘adoption’ from Yeltsin and our feeding, funding, and supplying them nuclear. Just wondered if we were still following that agreement.
