Do Iowans need to know something about Mormons that the rest of us don’t require?

I posted this on another thread. It bears repeating...

Who cares?!? Romney’s problem isn’t that he’s a Mormon. His problem is that he’s not a conservative. I don’t want a RINO Mormon in office any more than I’d want a RINO Christian there.

“It is hard to disagree. Mormons marry young and have large families. They don’t drink, smoke or gamble.”

From the article.

The author has never been to Wendover or Laughlin.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I have no problem with a Mormon as a President.

I do have a problem with a politician that is a gun grabber.

Mitt’s problem isn’t religion or lack of it. Mitt’s problem is he’s so stilted he sometimes resembles an automaton. He’s an accomplished fellow, but he won’t be elected President.

He’ll do well in a cabinet post. He needs to retire gracefully and throw his support to Fred.

...and I would add, that we are talking about primaries, not the General election. Too all those who would paint yourselves into a corner, before we have a clue who the nominees of either party will be. Just consider what your hard over, narrow, single issue, mindless attitude will get you when it is applied to the General election. I don’t believe I have been witness to so much...sentence self censored.

Not a Romney supporter at present, however if he is nominated, am I going to assume wrongly so, that any democrat, is preferable, and the same goes for every other Republican running for the office of President. None of them will fulfill all of anyones dream of the perfect candidate. None of them are and none of them claim to be and it is incumbent on us the voters not to expecct them to be or vote as if you are and they aren’t. JMHO.

Article VI

The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the members of the several state legislatures, and all executive and judicial officers, both of the United States and of the several states, shall be bound by oath or affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.

In my opinion, it is self-destructive for Christians to make Romney’s religion an issue. Romney and his family are very private when it comes to religion. They don’t proselytize. Ironically, it is the Christians who are giving Mormonism all the publicity it’s getting. If they are afraid of giving Mormonism more exposure (and they should be), then shut up about it.

What happened on 911 demonstrated that even infamous acts of murder can be useful publicity for certain religions. The old adage “No publicity is bad publicity applies here.”

“What Iowans Should Know About Mormons”

My experience with them in San Diego is that they are hardworking, ambitious, loyal Americans, valuable taxpayers and upright, law-abiding citizens.

But they have little tails, 6-8” long, covered with fine,
downy fur. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

“But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them,

and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 3:13-15)

“For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.

No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.” (2 Corinthians 11: 13-15)

Although Mr. Romney’s speech has been viewed by some as eloquent, inspiring, well crafted and well delivered, its was a speech specifically designed in order to deceive (Webster’s defines deceive: “to cause to accept as true or valid what is false or invalid; to give a false impression”) and to obfuscate (Webster’s definition: darken: to make obscure <obfuscate the issue>2: confuse <obfuscate the reader/listener>intransitive verb: to be evasive, unclear, or confusing) the central issue.

The central issue surrounding peoples distrust and unwillingness to vote for Mr. Romney is the fact that he is an ardent follower of Mormonism and Mormonism has been historically and theologically proven to be a religious cult. In order to hide the truth Mr. Romney was both deceitful, deceptive and sought to obfuscate the facts when he said the following regarding his “faith”:

“There is one fundamental question about which I often am asked. What do I believe about Jesus Christ? I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of mankind. My church’s beliefs about Christ may not all be the same as those of other faiths. Each religion has its own unique doctrines and history. These are not bases for criticism but rather a test of our tolerance. Religious tolerance would be a shallow principle indeed if it were reserved only for faiths with which we agree.” (Mitt Romney’s Speech “Faith In America” December 6, 2007)

“I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of mankind.”

Mr. Romney deceitfully stated the above in order to obfuscate the facts and to deceive his listeners into believing both he and Mormonism hold to the traditional doctrine of Jesus Christ. In reality Mr. Romney and Mormonism redefined the meaning of “the Son of God”. Mormonism believes and teaches that Jesus is the literal “Son of God” who was naturally begotten through the immortal Father’s having physical sexual relations with Mary

In a pamphlet published by the LDS Church First Presidency, it says:

Jesus Christ is the Son of Elohim both as spiritual and bodily offspring; that is to say, Elohim is literally the Father of the spirit of Jesus Christ and also of the body in which Jesus Christ performed His mission in the flesh, and which body died on the cross and was afterward taken up by the process of resurrection, and is now the immortalized tabernacle of the eternal spirit of our Lord and Savior” ("The Father and The Son; A Doctrinal Exposition by The First Presidency and The Twelve," June 30, 1916. Reprinted in Articles of Faith, p. 421).

Mormon Apostle Bruce McConkie taught that God stepped down from His throne to “join with one who is finite and mortal in bringing forth, ‘after the manner of the flesh,’ the Mortal Messiah” (Bruce R. McConkie, The Mortal Messiah: From Bethlehem to Calvary, 1:315).

For more information on Mormonism’s teaching on the birth of Christ see: “What Child Is This?” The LDS Christmas Story by Sharon Lindbloom

http://www.answeringlds.org/index.html?artWhatChild.html

According to Mormonism Jesus Christ is the spirit-brother of Lucifer

Long before you were born a program was developed by your creators ... The principal personalities in this great drama were a Father Elohim, perfect in wisdom, judgment, and person, and two sons, Lucifer and Jehovah.” (Teachings of Spencer W. Kimball, 12th Mormon President pp. 32-33).

God’s Word is clear, “all things”, including angels were created through Jesus Christ (John 1:3; Colossian 1:16, 17), Lucifer is described as an angel and angels, according to Psalm 148:1-5, are created beings, not sexually pro-created beings.

Mr. Romney says he believes that Jesus is “The son of god”. The big question is this: “what does Mormonism believe and teach regarding “god?”

Mormonism teaches that “God” was not always God

“We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see. These are incomprehensible ideas to some, but they are simple. It is the first principle of the Gospel to know for a certainty the Character of God, and to know that we may converse with him as one man converses with another, and that he was once a man like us” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, the founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints p.345; also cited in Gospel Principles, p.305).

God’s Word says this teaching is false; “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you have formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, you are God.” (Psalm 90:2)

According to Mormonism God is merely a glorified, perfected human being with a physical body of flesh and bones

"God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens! That is the great secret, if the veil were rent today, and the great God who holds this world in its orbit, and who upholds all worlds and all things by his power, was to make himself visible,—I say, if you were to see him today, you would see him like a man in form—like yourselves in all the person, image, and very form as a man; for Adam was created in the very fashion, image and likeness of God, and received instruction from, and walked, talked and conversed with him, as one man talks and communes with another" (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 345. Also cited in Achieving a Celestial Marriage, p.129).

“The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man's” (The Doctrines of Covenants, 130:22).

According to Jesus, God the Father is not a glorified man at all, neither does He have a physical body. God is spirit, and they that worship Him, must worship Him in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24)

Mr. Romney says Jesus is the son of god but which one? According to Mormonism, God is only one “god” among many Gods.

I wish to declare I have always and in all congregations when I have preached on the subject of the Deity, it has been the plurality of Gods. It has been preached by the elders for fifteen years” (Discourses of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p.35).

How many Gods there are, I do not know. But there never was a time when there were not Gods and worlds, and when men were not passing through the same ordeals that we are now passing through. That course has been from all eternity, and it is and will be to all eternity. You cannot comprehend this; but when you can, it will be to you a matter of great consolation” (Brigham Young, , the second president of the LDS Church Journal of Discourses 7:334, October 8, 1859).

The God of the Bible Himself declares this to be false, He alone is God. “I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God…Is there a God beside me? Yea, there is no God; I know not any.” (Isaiah 44:6, 8)

Mormonism believes and teaches God is married

Gordon B. Hinckley, the 15th President of the LDS church, once stated in a conference message, “Logic and reason would certainly suggest that if we have a Father in Heaven, we have a Mother in Heaven. That doctrine rests well with me” (“Daughters of God,” Ensign (Conference Edition), November 1991, p.100. This quote is also cited in The Teachings of Gordon B. Hinckley, p.257).

Implicit in the Christian verity that all men are the spirit children of an Eternal Father is the usually unspoken truth that they are also the offspring of an Eternal Mother. An exalted and glorified Man of Holiness (Moses 6:57) could not be a Father unless a Woman of like glory, perfection, and holiness was associated with him as a Mother. The begetting of children makes a man a father and a woman a mother whether we are dealing with man in his mortal or immortal state” (Mormon Apostle Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, p. 516).

There is absolutely nothing in the Word of God that could be found to support such heretical doctrine.

Mr. Romney was being disingenuous and deceitful when he proclaimed “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of mankind.”

According to the teachings and doctrine of Mormonism, salvation does not take place through Jesus Christ, but Joseph Smith

"If we get our salvation, we shall have to pass by the Prophet Joseph Smith; if we enter our glory, it will be through the authority he has received. We cannot get around him. "
- 1988 Melchizedek Priesthood Study Guide, p. 142, Apostle George Q. Cannon quoted

"Our entire case as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints rests on the validity of this glorious First Vision. ... Nothing on which we base our doctrine, nothing we teach, nothing we live by is of greater importance than this initial declaration. I submit that if Joseph Smith talked with God the Father and His Beloved Son, then all else of which he spoke is true. This is the hinge on which turns the gate that leads to the path of salvation and eternal life."- Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley, Ensign Mag., Nov. 1998, pp.70-71

[There is] "no salvation without accepting Joseph Smith. If Joseph Smith was verily a prophet, and if he told the truth...no man can reject that testimony without incurring the most dreadful consequences, for he cannot enter the kingdom of God"
- Prophet Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 1, p.190

"No man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith...every man and woman must have the certificate of Joseph Smith, junior, as a passport to their entrance into the mansion where God and Christ are... [Joseph Smith] reigns there as supreme a being in his sphere, capacity, and calling, as God does in heaven. Many will exclaim—"Oh, that is very disagreeable! It is preposterous! We cannot bear the thought!" But it is true."
- Prophet Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 7, p.289-91

"He that confesseth not that Jesus has come in the flesh and sent Joseph Smith with the fullness of the Gospel to this generation, is not of God, but is anti-christ"
- Prophet Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 9, p.312

"I tell you, Joseph holds the keys, and none of us can get into the celestial kingdom without passing by him. We have not got rid of him, but he stands there as the sentinel, holding the keys of the kingdom of God; and there are many of them beside him. I tell you, if we get past those who have mingled with us, and know us best, and have a right to know us best, probably we can pass all other sentinels as far as it is necessary, or as far as we may desire. But I tell you, the pinch will be with those that have mingled with us, stood next to us, weighed our spirits, tried us, and proven us: there will be a pinch, in my view, to get past them. The others, perhaps, will say, If brother Joseph is satisfied with you, you may pass. If it is all right with him, it is all right with me. Then if Joseph shall say to a man, or if brother Brigham say to a man, I forgive you your sins, "Whosoever sins ye remit they are remitted unto them;" if you who have suffered and felt the weight of transgression—if you have generosity enough to forgive the sinner, I will forgive him: you cannot have more generosity than I have. I have given you power to forgive sins, and when the Lord gives a gift, he does not take it back again."
- Apostle Orson Hyde, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 6, p.154-155

"It is to be feared that in course of a century, some gifted man like Paul, some splendid orator, who will be able by his eloquence to attract crowds of the thousands who are ever ready to hear, and be carried away by, the sounding brass and tinkling cymbal of sparkling oratory, may command a hearing, may succeed in breathing a new life into this modern Mahometanism, and make the name of the martyred Joseph ring as loud, and stir the souls of men as much, as the mighty name of Christ itself. Sharon, Palmyra, Manchester, Kirtland, Far West, Adam-ondi-Ahman, Ramus. Nauvoo, and the Carthage Jail, may become holy and venerable names, places of classic interest, in another age; like Jerusalem, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Mount of Olives, and Mount Calvary to the Christian, and Mecca and Medina to the Turk."
- Prophet Brigham Young, History of the Church, Vol. 7, p.40-41

Mr. Romney was not being honest with the American people, the “Jesus Christ” he worships is not the Christ of the Bible or biblical Christianity. The Leader/President of the Mormon Church himself has recently admitted this fact; Mormonism does not worship the Christ of Christianity.

Recently, Mormonism has sought legitimacy by claiming to be “Christian”, and following the Jesus of the Bible, but this is a very recent phenomena in it's history. Fortunately, it’s current president/leader has admitted that Mormons do not in point of fact follow the traditional Christ of the Bible, or of biblical Christianity:

The current president of the Mormon Church, Gordon B. Hinckley, made a very telling comment about Jesus Christ in a talk in Geneva, Switzerland, June 6, 1998. The Deseret News reported:

In bearing testimony of Jesus Christ, President Hinckley spoke of those outside the Church who say Latter-day Saints "do not believe in the traditional Christ. No, I don't. The traditional Christ of whom they speak is not the Christ of whom I speak. For the Christ of whom I speak has been revealed in this the Dispensation of the Fullness of Times.

He together with His Father, appeared to the boy Joseph Smith in the year 1820, and when Joseph left the grove that day, he knew more of the nature of God than all the learned ministers of the gospel of the ages." (Deseret News, Church News section, Salt Lake City, Utah, week ending June 20, 1998, p. 7)

President. Hinckley, the leader of Mormonism, was being totally honest and told the truth; His declaration is consistent with Mormonism:

“It is true that many of the Christian churches worship a different Jesus Christ that is worshipped by the Mormons.” – LDS publication, Ensign Magazine, May 1977, p. 26

Mormons do not worship the traditional Jesus Christ who is described in the Bible, the Holy Word of God. They worship a false christ as proclaimed and taught by Joseph Smith, who, according to Hinckley “knew more of the nature of God than all the learned ministers of the gospel of the ages"... if you believe that, there is a bridge in Brooklyn I would like to sell you.

It should be noted that, from its inception Mormonism has been deemed a cult and NEVER been recognized as being a part of “Christianity or Christendom because it’s core doctrines are in total opposition to the Word of God, the doctrine of salvation, the Christ of the Bible, and the Christ of Christianity.

Millions of Americans have problems with Mr. Romney’s presidential candidacy because he is a prominent member of a religious cult that believes that “the Bible is full of errors”, that the ludicrous Book of Mormon has supplanted the Bible and is “god’s” latest revelation to mankind, that their so-called leader/president speaks new/divine revelation from “god”, that Jesus Christ is Satan’s brother, that “god” was once a man and that men, by following the doctrines and dictates of Mormonism can become “gods” ruling over their own planets, propagating these new worlds with so-called "spirit children" through out eternity by having sex with the wives they have married here on earth. Holy underwear, that Jesus Christ came to America, that the Indians were Jews, that "god" has a physical body and the virgin birth was the direct result of “god” having sex with Mary. Mr. Romney’s speech answered none of these questions, instead he chose to put forth a speech that sought to deceive and obfuscate the facts.

Mr. Romney said: My church’s beliefs about Christ may not all be the same as those of other faiths. Each religion has its own unique doctrines and history…”.

In reality, Mormonism’s beliefs and Mr. Romney’s faith are in total opposition to all aspects of historic, biblical Christianity. Anyone who believes the above space-cadet theology shows a lack of discernment at the core of their being and that is the basis of concern and THE REASON why millions of Americans will not vote for Mr. Romney.

It is also vitally important to note that in order to obtain the high position Mr. Romney currently holds within the cult he has had to take an oath to the “church”; swearing his allegiance to Mormonism and it’s leadership and to doing everything within his power to establish the Mormon "kingdom of god" upon the earth. Mr. Romney also believes he is going to become the god of his own world! This fact alone disqualifies him from holding the office of President of the United States because his allegiance AND motives lies elsewhere.

Mr. Romney also said:

“Let me assure you that no authorities of my church, or of any other church for that matter, will ever exert influence on presidential decisions. Their authority is theirs, within the province of church affairs, and it ends where the affairs of the nation begin.”

As governor, I tried to do the right as best I knew it, serving the law and answering to the Constitution. I did not confuse the particular teachings of my church with the obligations of the office and of the Constitution — and of course, I would not do so as President. I will put no doctrine of any church above the plain duties of the office and the sovereign authority of the law.

As a young man, Lincoln described what he called America’s ‘political religion’ — the commitment to defend the rule of law and the Constitution. When I place my hand on the Bible and take the oath of office, that oath becomes my highest promise to God. If I am fortunate to become your president, I will serve no one religion, no one group, no one cause, and no one interest. A President must serve only the common cause of the people of the United States.

Mr. Romney was not being forthright with the American people, in order to obtain the high position Mr. Romney currently holds within the cult of Mormonism he has had to take an oath to the Mormon “church,” swearing his allegiance to Mormonism and it’s leadership and to doing everything within his power to establish the Mormon "kingdom of god" upon the earth. This oath is clearly in contradiction and opposition to the declaration Mr. Romney made within his speech. He also believes he is going to become the god of his own world! These actions and beliefs clearly disqualify him from holding the office of President of the United States because his allegiance AND motives lay elsewhere.

Apart from the above, there are also valid political reasons for not voting for Mr. Romney.

Mr. Romney has flip flopped on abortion, homosexuality and a number of other issues while in his position of leadership as governor of MA. He had the opportunity to take a stand and he bent which ever way the political wind blew.

During the gas crunch/crises that took place while he was governor of MA. Mr. Romney had the opportunity to provide some relief for the struggling people of MA by rolling back or eliminating the exceptionally high MA gas tax during the period covering the gas crisis. People throughout the state were hurting. People in the state begged him to do this but he staunchly refused… so much for his commitment to “cutting taxes”.

Yes he is “handsome” and telegenic, and "moral" as men count morals but people here in NH know him, what he believes and how he governs and frankly, many of us do not want him to become the leader of the free world and can not/will not vote for him.

While we are not voting for Sunday School teacher, we are voting for the person who will lead the greatest country on the face of the earth and evangelicals should not be voting for someone who has sworn his allegiance to Mormonism and it’s leadership and to doing everything within his power to establish the Mormon "kingdom of god" upon the earth. Or someone who also believes he is going to become the god of his own world propagating it with "spirit children" by having sex with his wife who is going to turn them out like the queen from Aliens!

I, along with others who have continued mentioning these facts concerning Mormonism are not being “intolerant” or “bigoted”, we are telling the historical truth about the CULT of Mormonism in order to educate the public at large. Whether people wish to acknowledge it or not, the fact of the matter is this: what one believes and follows has a direct bearing and impact upon how they live their lives and how they view the world and their place in it and in the case of politicians, …how they govern (The "president" of Iran is a good example of the reality behind this principle). Therefore, stating what Mormonism teaches, believes and practices is not “Mormon bashing", it is presenting reality. The facts stated above about the cult which Mr. Romney is so actively involved in are readily available and easily verified by anyone and everyone who is willing to take the time to do some simple apologetics research with an open mind, taking Mormonism at face value, examining it's founders, leaders, doctrines, beliefs and practices in light of history, the Word of God and the founder (The Lord Jesus Christ), leaders, doctrine and beliefs of biblical Christianity and "the faith once and for all delivered to the saints."

Stating the truth about the religious heresy of Mormonism is not “intolerance”, or “bigotry”, it is a defense of the truth and that which makes for “sound doctrine” however, we are living in “the last days “ and God’s Word clearly proclaims:

3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. 5But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. (2 Timothy 4:3-5)
