What Iowans Should Know About Mormons
Wall Street Journal ^ | December 7, 2007 | NAOMI SCHAEFER RILEY

Yesterday, at the end of Mitt Romney's speech, he told a story from the early days of the First Continental Congress, whose members were meeting in Philadelphia in 1774: "With Boston occupied by British troops . . . and fears of an impending war . . . someone suggested they pray." But because of the variety of religious denominations represented, there were objections. "Then Sam Adams rose and said he would hear a prayer from anyone of piety and good character, as long as they were a patriot."

Mitt Romney wasn’t a gun grabber as Mass Governor and won’t be as President.

“I respectfully disagree with you. I was a Fred man solid until this speech...this man...Mitt is to good to be true, yet there he is...Truth sublime...I was moved more by Presidential Bearing, intelligence conviction, faith, than I have been by anyone Reagan! Wow, this man can move our nation to the future with Grace, and authority that few “Leaders” have never approached...”

Yes, it was a great speech, and I came out of it thinking “He can be our next President, and we will be just fine.”

The man’s intelligence and character is very strong.

I don’t care about Mitt’s religion, I care about his political leanings, which are too ‘fluid’ for me.

Please don’t let your emotional response to a candidate’s demeanor, or his looks, cloud your brain. If you’re looking for a solid conservative candidate, Mitt is not your man.

This has Romney’s gun issue details and a lot of links to sources on things. ... There is a direct link to NRA statement on the bill Romney signed in 2004.:

http://www.freerepublic.com/~UnmarkedPackage/#guns

No. Governor Romney has always supported the individual right to keep and bear arms. The firearms bills that Governor Romney signed into law (see below) were all endorsed by the National Rifle Association (NRA) and/or the Gun Owners’ Action League (GOAL), which bills itself as “The Official Firearms Association of Massachusetts.”

The NRA gave Mitt Romney a rating of ‘B’ in the 2002 election race for Governor of Massachusetts.
(Scott Helman, “Romney retreats on gun control,” The Boston Globe, 1/14/2007)

Craig Sandler, former Director of General Operations of the National Rifle Association and former Nashua Police Chief, endorses Governor Mitt Romney for President.

In endorsing Governor Romney, Craig Sandler said, “Throughout his career in both the public and private sectors, Mitt Romney has demonstrated exceptional leadership ability, integrity, and commitment to principle. As a New Hampshire resident, former law enforcement officer, and avid sportsman, I am supporting Governor Romney because he is the candidate who will protect our Constitutional rights and strengthen our nation.”

Governor Romney On Parker v. District of Columbia:

Governor Romney: “It is my hope that the Supreme Court will reaffirm the individual right to keep and bear arms as enshrined in the Bill of Rights and protect law abiding gun owners everywhere. To further guard this fundamental liberty, as President, I will take care to appoint judges who will not legislate from the bench but will instead strictly interpret the Constitution.”
(Romney for President, “Governor Romney On The U.S. Supreme Court’s Decision To Review Second Amendment Case,” Press Release, 11/21/2007)

Question for Romney from Human Events editor Jed Babbin: Do you view the second amendment as vesting an individual right to keep and bear arms? I know the Supreme Court is about to consider the Parker v. District of Columbia case. Aside from the legalities: as you personally look at the Second Amendment, do you think that’s the right of the state or is that the right of the individual gun owner?

Governor Romney: “It’s the right of the individual. I believe that our Constitution vests in the citizens of the United States the right to bear arms, to have weapons for their personal protection, for hunting and for any legal and lawful purpose. I’d like to see our gun laws enforced, to see people who use guns in the committing of crimes in jail for a long time, but I believe that individuals have the right to bear arms, and any incursion on that right, I would find in violation of the constitution.”
(Editors of Human Events, “Romney’s Four Wedge Issues,” Human Events, 11/21/2007)

Governor Romney addressed the National Rifle Association in a videotaped message at the NRA’s “Celebration of American Values” in Washington, D.C. on 9/21/2007. Gov. Romney discussed his position and record in support of the Second Amendment and his intent to oppose McCain-Feingold legislation, liberal judicial activism and tort claims being used to erode our 2nd Amendment rights. Must See Mitt TV!

Despite a heavily Democratic anti-gun Legislature in Massachusetts, Gov. Romney signed a NRA-backed bill in 2006 (H. 4552) that reduced a testing requirement on certain pistol-makers before they could sell guns in Massachusetts. The Gun Owners’ Action League praised Gov. Romney for his support of H. 4552.

“Target shooters are an important part of our membership and I know they will be very pleased with this change,” said James Wallace, Executive Director of the Gun Owners’ Action League.
(Office of Gov. Mitt Romney, “Governor Romney Approves Exemption for Target Pistols,” Press Release, 7/26/2006)

Governor Mitt Romney signed legislation aimed at providing one clear definition of a loaded shotgun or rifle for the state’s hunting enthusiasts. For years, two competing definitions had existed on the books, leaving law abiding gun owners wondering when and how they can enter or cross a public way with their firearms.

“On behalf of the lawful gun owners of the Commonwealth, I would like to thank Governor Romney and all who took part in the passage of this legislation. We have taken another important step in reforming the 1998 gun laws,” said Jim Wallace, Executive Director of the Gun Owners’ Action League. “This new law addresses a conflict that had previously caused great concern in those who use traditional muzzle loading rifles and shotguns. Now they confidently know what is expected of them and can enjoy their heritage without the fear of being prosecuted for violating a poorly written law.”
(”Massachusetts Clarifies Muzzleloader Law,” Buckmasters, 11/22/2005)

Gov. Romney signed legislation requiring all new hunters to take a hunter education course. The measure had the strong support of sportsmen and gun owners.

“We are pleased with the passage of yet another correction of Chapter 180 of the Acts of 1998, which created a confusing standard for acquiring a hunting, sporting or fishing license,” said James Wallace, GOAL’s executive director. “Prior to the passage of this law some eight years ago, hunter education was mandatory for all first time hunters. While GOAL does not normally support mandatory training, it is our belief that every first time hunter should be exposed to the ethics, safety aspects and laws in Massachusetts regarding hunting before taking to the field for the first time.”
(Office of Gov. Mitt Romney, “Romney Signs Legislation to Promote Hunter Safety,” Press Release, 7/06/2006)

On the 31st anniversary of the Gun Owners’ Action League, Governor Romney declared May 7, 2005 as “The Right to Bear Arms Day” in Massachusetts to honor “the right of decent, law-abiding citizens to own and use firearms in defense of their families, persons, and property and for all lawful purposes, including the common defense.”
(Scott Helman, “Romney retreats on gun control,” The Boston Globe, 1/14/2007)

Opponents of gun control and critics of Governor Romney point to the fact that he signed firearms legislation in July, 2004 that included a ban of assault weapons in Massachusetts (S.2367). However, the bill only reaffirmed an existing Massachusetts state ban on assault weapons that was enacted as part of sweeping gun control laws passed in Massachusetts in 1998, five years before Romney took office, and didn’t ban any additional guns. The state ban of assault weapons enacted in 1998 was not due to disappear, nor would it have become invalid with the sunset of the federal ban in September, 2004.
(National Rifle Association - Institute for Legislative Action, “Massachusetts - Firearms Reform Bill Sent to the Governor`s Desk,” Press Release, 6/29/2004)

The firearms reform bill signed by Governor Romney in 2004 had the endorsement of the NRA (a MUST READ), the Gun Owners’ Action League, law enforcement and Massachusetts gun owners. The bill added several measures these groups favored, including a lengthening of the terms of firearm identification cards and licenses to carry, namely;

1) Extending the term of a firearm identification card and a license to carry firearms from four years to six years,
2) Granting a 90-day grace period for holders of firearm identification cards and licenses to carry who have applied for renewal, and
3) Creating a seven-member Firearm License Review Board to review firearm license applications that have been denied.

“This is truly a great day for Massachusetts’ sportsmen and women. These reforms correct some serious mistakes that were made during the gun debate in 1998, when many of our state’s gun owners were stripped of their long-standing rights to own firearms.”
(MA State Senator Stephen M. Brewer (D), Press Release, 7/01/2004)

“I want to congratulate everyone that has worked so hard on this issue. Because of their dedication, we are here today to sign into law this consensus piece of legislation. This change will go a long way toward fixing the flaws created by the 1998 law. Another key piece to this legislation addresses those citizens who have applied for renewals. If the government does not process their renewal in a timely fashion, those citizens won’t be put at risk because of the 90 day grace period that is being adopted today.”
(MA State Representative George N. Peterson, Jr. (R), Press Release, 7/01/2004)

“There are a lot of good things in the bill,” said Jim Wallace, legislative director of the Gun Owners’ Action League, the state’s leading pro-gun group. “In all, the bill represents a healing process, or the beginning of the healing process, between lawful gun owners and the Massachusetts Legislature.”
(Scott S. Greenberger, “State moves on assault weapons ban,” The Boston Globe, 6/24/2004)

The firearms reform bill signed in 2004 prohibited the sale of the same weapons in Massachusetts banned in the 1998 legislation but loosened other restrictions imposed by the 1998 gun bill. Therefore, after Governor Romney signed the gun bill in 2004, gun owners in Massachusetts had fewer restrictions on gun ownership than at any time since 1998. The bill was passed in the Senate by a vote of 36 - 1 in favor and the House passed it with no amendments or debate on a “voice” vote. This represented by far the broadest support a reform bill has ever seen in the Massachusetts State House. Only one legislator in the entire building voiced opposition to the bill.

Mitt Romney joined the NRA in August, 2006 and signed up for a lifetime membership. Romney said of the NRA, “I think they’re doing good things, and I believe in supporting the right to bear arms.”

“What Iowans Should Know About Mormons”

My experience with them in San Diego is that they are hardworking, ambitious, loyal Americans, valuable taxpayers and upright, law-abiding citizens.

But they have little tails, 6-8” long, covered with fine,
downy fur. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

You know I am beginning to think I am wrong about Mitt.

His conservatism isn't a matter of expediency, it really wasn't a matter of convenience or pandering...

If it was, if he was trying to pander to Conservatives on their issues, he would have run out and done something like join the NRA right before he started to talking about being President...

Mitt Romney joined the NRA in August, 2006 and signed up for a lifetime membership. Romney said of the NRA, “I think they’re doing good things, and I believe in supporting the right to bear arms.” (George Stephanopoulos, “Mitt Romney: The Complete Interview,” ABC News This Week, 2/18/2007)

Hey, wait a minute, 2006 huh, isn't that about when he decided to make this run for President as a "Conservative"...

“But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them,

and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 3:13-15)

“For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.

No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.” (2 Corinthians 11: 13-15)

Although Mr. Romney’s speech has been viewed by some as eloquent, inspiring, well crafted and well delivered, its was a speech specifically designed in order to deceive (Webster’s defines deceive: “to cause to accept as true or valid what is false or invalid; to give a false impression”) and to obfuscate (Webster’s definition: darken: to make obscure <obfuscate the issue>2: confuse <obfuscate the reader/listener>intransitive verb: to be evasive, unclear, or confusing) the central issue.

The central issue surrounding peoples distrust and unwillingness to vote for Mr. Romney is the fact that he is an ardent follower of Mormonism and Mormonism has been historically and theologically proven to be a religious cult. In order to hide the truth Mr. Romney was both deceitful, deceptive and sought to obfuscate the facts when he said the following regarding his “faith”:

“There is one fundamental question about which I often am asked. What do I believe about Jesus Christ? I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of mankind. My church’s beliefs about Christ may not all be the same as those of other faiths. Each religion has its own unique doctrines and history. These are not bases for criticism but rather a test of our tolerance. Religious tolerance would be a shallow principle indeed if it were reserved only for faiths with which we agree.” (Mitt Romney’s Speech “Faith In America” December 6, 2007)

“I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of mankind.”

Mr. Romney deceitfully stated the above in order to obfuscate the facts and to deceive his listeners into believing both he and Mormonism hold to the traditional doctrine of Jesus Christ. In reality Mr. Romney and Mormonism redefined the meaning of “the Son of God”. Mormonism believes and teaches that Jesus is the literal “Son of God” who was naturally begotten through the immortal Father’s having physical sexual relations with Mary

In a pamphlet published by the LDS Church First Presidency, it says:

Jesus Christ is the Son of Elohim both as spiritual and bodily offspring; that is to say, Elohim is literally the Father of the spirit of Jesus Christ and also of the body in which Jesus Christ performed His mission in the flesh, and which body died on the cross and was afterward taken up by the process of resurrection, and is now the immortalized tabernacle of the eternal spirit of our Lord and Savior” ("The Father and The Son; A Doctrinal Exposition by The First Presidency and The Twelve," June 30, 1916. Reprinted in Articles of Faith, p. 421).

Mormon Apostle Bruce McConkie taught that God stepped down from His throne to “join with one who is finite and mortal in bringing forth, ‘after the manner of the flesh,’ the Mortal Messiah” (Bruce R. McConkie, The Mortal Messiah: From Bethlehem to Calvary, 1:315).

For more information on Mormonism’s teaching on the birth of Christ see: “What Child Is This?” The LDS Christmas Story by Sharon Lindbloom

http://www.answeringlds.org/index.html?artWhatChild.html

According to Mormonism Jesus Christ is the spirit-brother of Lucifer

Long before you were born a program was developed by your creators ... The principal personalities in this great drama were a Father Elohim, perfect in wisdom, judgment, and person, and two sons, Lucifer and Jehovah.” (Teachings of Spencer W. Kimball, 12th Mormon President pp. 32-33).

God’s Word is clear, “all things”, including angels were created through Jesus Christ (John 1:3; Colossian 1:16, 17), Lucifer is described as an angel and angels, according to Psalm 148:1-5, are created beings, not sexually pro-created beings.

Mr. Romney says he believes that Jesus is “The son of god”. The big question is this: “what does Mormonism believe and teach regarding “god?”

Mormonism teaches that “God” was not always God

“We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see. These are incomprehensible ideas to some, but they are simple. It is the first principle of the Gospel to know for a certainty the Character of God, and to know that we may converse with him as one man converses with another, and that he was once a man like us” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, the founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints p.345; also cited in Gospel Principles, p.305).

God’s Word says this teaching is false; “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you have formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, you are God.” (Psalm 90:2)

According to Mormonism God is merely a glorified, perfected human being with a physical body of flesh and bones

"God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens! That is the great secret, if the veil were rent today, and the great God who holds this world in its orbit, and who upholds all worlds and all things by his power, was to make himself visible,—I say, if you were to see him today, you would see him like a man in form—like yourselves in all the person, image, and very form as a man; for Adam was created in the very fashion, image and likeness of God, and received instruction from, and walked, talked and conversed with him, as one man talks and communes with another" (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 345. Also cited in Achieving a Celestial Marriage, p.129).

“The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man's” (The Doctrines of Covenants, 130:22).

According to Jesus, God the Father is not a glorified man at all, neither does He have a physical body. God is spirit, and they that worship Him, must worship Him in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24)

Mr. Romney says Jesus is the son of god but which one? According to Mormonism, God is only one “god” among many Gods.

I wish to declare I have always and in all congregations when I have preached on the subject of the Deity, it has been the plurality of Gods. It has been preached by the elders for fifteen years” (Discourses of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p.35).

How many Gods there are, I do not know. But there never was a time when there were not Gods and worlds, and when men were not passing through the same ordeals that we are now passing through. That course has been from all eternity, and it is and will be to all eternity. You cannot comprehend this; but when you can, it will be to you a matter of great consolation” (Brigham Young, , the second president of the LDS Church Journal of Discourses 7:334, October 8, 1859).

The God of the Bible Himself declares this to be false, He alone is God. “I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God…Is there a God beside me? Yea, there is no God; I know not any.” (Isaiah 44:6, 8)

Mormonism believes and teaches God is married

Gordon B. Hinckley, the 15th President of the LDS church, once stated in a conference message, “Logic and reason would certainly suggest that if we have a Father in Heaven, we have a Mother in Heaven. That doctrine rests well with me” (“Daughters of God,” Ensign (Conference Edition), November 1991, p.100. This quote is also cited in The Teachings of Gordon B. Hinckley, p.257).

Implicit in the Christian verity that all men are the spirit children of an Eternal Father is the usually unspoken truth that they are also the offspring of an Eternal Mother. An exalted and glorified Man of Holiness (Moses 6:57) could not be a Father unless a Woman of like glory, perfection, and holiness was associated with him as a Mother. The begetting of children makes a man a father and a woman a mother whether we are dealing with man in his mortal or immortal state” (Mormon Apostle Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, p. 516).

There is absolutely nothing in the Word of God that could be found to support such heretical doctrine.

Mr. Romney was being disingenuous and deceitful when he proclaimed “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of mankind.”

According to the teachings and doctrine of Mormonism, salvation does not take place through Jesus Christ, but Joseph Smith

"If we get our salvation, we shall have to pass by the Prophet Joseph Smith; if we enter our glory, it will be through the authority he has received. We cannot get around him. "
- 1988 Melchizedek Priesthood Study Guide, p. 142, Apostle George Q. Cannon quoted

"Our entire case as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints rests on the validity of this glorious First Vision. ... Nothing on which we base our doctrine, nothing we teach, nothing we live by is of greater importance than this initial declaration. I submit that if Joseph Smith talked with God the Father and His Beloved Son, then all else of which he spoke is true. This is the hinge on which turns the gate that leads to the path of salvation and eternal life."- Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley, Ensign Mag., Nov. 1998, pp.70-71

[There is] "no salvation without accepting Joseph Smith. If Joseph Smith was verily a prophet, and if he told the truth...no man can reject that testimony without incurring the most dreadful consequences, for he cannot enter the kingdom of God"
- Prophet Joseph Fielding Smith, Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 1, p.190

"No man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith...every man and woman must have the certificate of Joseph Smith, junior, as a passport to their entrance into the mansion where God and Christ are... [Joseph Smith] reigns there as supreme a being in his sphere, capacity, and calling, as God does in heaven. Many will exclaim—"Oh, that is very disagreeable! It is preposterous! We cannot bear the thought!" But it is true."
- Prophet Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 7, p.289-91

"He that confesseth not that Jesus has come in the flesh and sent Joseph Smith with the fullness of the Gospel to this generation, is not of God, but is anti-christ"
- Prophet Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 9, p.312

"I tell you, Joseph holds the keys, and none of us can get into the celestial kingdom without passing by him. We have not got rid of him, but he stands there as the sentinel, holding the keys of the kingdom of God; and there are many of them beside him. I tell you, if we get past those who have mingled with us, and know us best, and have a right to know us best, probably we can pass all other sentinels as far as it is necessary, or as far as we may desire. But I tell you, the pinch will be with those that have mingled with us, stood next to us, weighed our spirits, tried us, and proven us: there will be a pinch, in my view, to get past them. The others, perhaps, will say, If brother Joseph is satisfied with you, you may pass. If it is all right with him, it is all right with me. Then if Joseph shall say to a man, or if brother Brigham say to a man, I forgive you your sins, "Whosoever sins ye remit they are remitted unto them;" if you who have suffered and felt the weight of transgression—if you have generosity enough to forgive the sinner, I will forgive him: you cannot have more generosity than I have. I have given you power to forgive sins, and when the Lord gives a gift, he does not take it back again."
- Apostle Orson Hyde, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 6, p.154-155

"It is to be feared that in course of a century, some gifted man like Paul, some splendid orator, who will be able by his eloquence to attract crowds of the thousands who are ever ready to hear, and be carried away by, the sounding brass and tinkling cymbal of sparkling oratory, may command a hearing, may succeed in breathing a new life into this modern Mahometanism, and make the name of the martyred Joseph ring as loud, and stir the souls of men as much, as the mighty name of Christ itself. Sharon, Palmyra, Manchester, Kirtland, Far West, Adam-ondi-Ahman, Ramus. Nauvoo, and the Carthage Jail, may become holy and venerable names, places of classic interest, in another age; like Jerusalem, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Mount of Olives, and Mount Calvary to the Christian, and Mecca and Medina to the Turk."
- Prophet Brigham Young, History of the Church, Vol. 7, p.40-41

Mr. Romney was not being honest with the American people, the “Jesus Christ” he worships is not the Christ of the Bible or biblical Christianity. The Leader/President of the Mormon Church himself has recently admitted this fact; Mormonism does not worship the Christ of Christianity.

Recently, Mormonism has sought legitimacy by claiming to be “Christian”, and following the Jesus of the Bible, but this is a very recent phenomena in it's history. Fortunately, it’s current president/leader has admitted that Mormons do not in point of fact follow the traditional Christ of the Bible, or of biblical Christianity:

The current president of the Mormon Church, Gordon B. Hinckley, made a very telling comment about Jesus Christ in a talk in Geneva, Switzerland, June 6, 1998. The Deseret News reported:

In bearing testimony of Jesus Christ, President Hinckley spoke of those outside the Church who say Latter-day Saints "do not believe in the traditional Christ. No, I don't. The traditional Christ of whom they speak is not the Christ of whom I speak. For the Christ of whom I speak has been revealed in this the Dispensation of the Fullness of Times.

He together with His Father, appeared to the boy Joseph Smith in the year 1820, and when Joseph left the grove that day, he knew more of the nature of God than all the learned ministers of the gospel of the ages." (Deseret News, Church News section, Salt Lake City, Utah, week ending June 20, 1998, p. 7)

President. Hinckley, the leader of Mormonism, was being totally honest and told the truth; His declaration is consistent with Mormonism:

“It is true that many of the Christian churches worship a different Jesus Christ that is worshipped by the Mormons.” – LDS publication, Ensign Magazine, May 1977, p. 26

Mormons do not worship the traditional Jesus Christ who is described in the Bible, the Holy Word of God. They worship a false christ as proclaimed and taught by Joseph Smith, who, according to Hinckley “knew more of the nature of God than all the learned ministers of the gospel of the ages"... if you believe that, there is a bridge in Brooklyn I would like to sell you.

It should be noted that, from its inception Mormonism has been deemed a cult and NEVER been recognized as being a part of “Christianity or Christendom because it’s core doctrines are in total opposition to the Word of God, the doctrine of salvation, the Christ of the Bible, and the Christ of Christianity.

Millions of Americans have problems with Mr. Romney’s presidential candidacy because he is a prominent member of a religious cult that believes that “the Bible is full of errors”, that the ludicrous Book of Mormon has supplanted the Bible and is “god’s” latest revelation to mankind, that their so-called leader/president speaks new/divine revelation from “god”, that Jesus Christ is Satan’s brother, that “god” was once a man and that men, by following the doctrines and dictates of Mormonism can become “gods” ruling over their own planets, propagating these new worlds with so-called "spirit children" through out eternity by having sex with the wives they have married here on earth. Holy underwear, that Jesus Christ came to America, that the Indians were Jews, that "god" has a physical body and the virgin birth was the direct result of “god” having sex with Mary. Mr. Romney’s speech answered none of these questions, instead he chose to put forth a speech that sought to deceive and obfuscate the facts.

Mr. Romney said: My church’s beliefs about Christ may not all be the same as those of other faiths. Each religion has its own unique doctrines and history…”.

In reality, Mormonism’s beliefs and Mr. Romney’s faith are in total opposition to all aspects of historic, biblical Christianity. Anyone who believes the above space-cadet theology shows a lack of discernment at the core of their being and that is the basis of concern and THE REASON why millions of Americans will not vote for Mr. Romney.

It is also vitally important to note that in order to obtain the high position Mr. Romney currently holds within the cult he has had to take an oath to the “church”; swearing his allegiance to Mormonism and it’s leadership and to doing everything within his power to establish the Mormon "kingdom of god" upon the earth. Mr. Romney also believes he is going to become the god of his own world! This fact alone disqualifies him from holding the office of President of the United States because his allegiance AND motives lies elsewhere.

Mr. Romney also said:

“Let me assure you that no authorities of my church, or of any other church for that matter, will ever exert influence on presidential decisions. Their authority is theirs, within the province of church affairs, and it ends where the affairs of the nation begin.”

As governor, I tried to do the right as best I knew it, serving the law and answering to the Constitution. I did not confuse the particular teachings of my church with the obligations of the office and of the Constitution — and of course, I would not do so as President. I will put no doctrine of any church above the plain duties of the office and the sovereign authority of the law.

As a young man, Lincoln described what he called America’s ‘political religion’ — the commitment to defend the rule of law and the Constitution. When I place my hand on the Bible and take the oath of office, that oath becomes my highest promise to God. If I am fortunate to become your president, I will serve no one religion, no one group, no one cause, and no one interest. A President must serve only the common cause of the people of the United States.

Mr. Romney was not being forthright with the American people, in order to obtain the high position Mr. Romney currently holds within the cult of Mormonism he has had to take an oath to the Mormon “church,” swearing his allegiance to Mormonism and it’s leadership and to doing everything within his power to establish the Mormon "kingdom of god" upon the earth. This oath is clearly in contradiction and opposition to the declaration Mr. Romney made within his speech. He also believes he is going to become the god of his own world! These actions and beliefs clearly disqualify him from holding the office of President of the United States because his allegiance AND motives lay elsewhere.

Apart from the above, there are also valid political reasons for not voting for Mr. Romney.

Mr. Romney has flip flopped on abortion, homosexuality and a number of other issues while in his position of leadership as governor of MA. He had the opportunity to take a stand and he bent which ever way the political wind blew.

During the gas crunch/crises that took place while he was governor of MA. Mr. Romney had the opportunity to provide some relief for the struggling people of MA by rolling back or eliminating the exceptionally high MA gas tax during the period covering the gas crisis. People throughout the state were hurting. People in the state begged him to do this but he staunchly refused… so much for his commitment to “cutting taxes”.

Yes he is “handsome” and telegenic, and "moral" as men count morals but people here in NH know him, what he believes and how he governs and frankly, many of us do not want him to become the leader of the free world and can not/will not vote for him.

While we are not voting for Sunday School teacher, we are voting for the person who will lead the greatest country on the face of the earth and evangelicals should not be voting for someone who has sworn his allegiance to Mormonism and it’s leadership and to doing everything within his power to establish the Mormon "kingdom of god" upon the earth. Or someone who also believes he is going to become the god of his own world propagating it with "spirit children" by having sex with his wife who is going to turn them out like the queen from Aliens!

I, along with others who have continued mentioning these facts concerning Mormonism are not being “intolerant” or “bigoted”, we are telling the historical truth about the CULT of Mormonism in order to educate the public at large. Whether people wish to acknowledge it or not, the fact of the matter is this: what one believes and follows has a direct bearing and impact upon how they live their lives and how they view the world and their place in it and in the case of politicians, …how they govern (The "president" of Iran is a good example of the reality behind this principle). Therefore, stating what Mormonism teaches, believes and practices is not “Mormon bashing", it is presenting reality. The facts stated above about the cult which Mr. Romney is so actively involved in are readily available and easily verified by anyone and everyone who is willing to take the time to do some simple apologetics research with an open mind, taking Mormonism at face value, examining it's founders, leaders, doctrines, beliefs and practices in light of history, the Word of God and the founder (The Lord Jesus Christ), leaders, doctrine and beliefs of biblical Christianity and "the faith once and for all delivered to the saints."

Stating the truth about the religious heresy of Mormonism is not “intolerance”, or “bigotry”, it is a defense of the truth and that which makes for “sound doctrine” however, we are living in “the last days “ and God’s Word clearly proclaims:

3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. 5But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. (2 Timothy 4:3-5)

I saw this on the AP wire a couple of days ago.

The city of Nauvoo, Ill., with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Nauvoo Illinois Temple, center, and the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, left, is seen from across the Mississippi River in Montrose, Iowa Nov. 29, 2007. The town is one of the most important towns in the history of the Mormon church. The campaign of Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, a Mormon, is raising many questions with the residents of the town. (AP Photo/John Gaines)

“The central issue surrounding peoples distrust and unwillingness to vote for Mr. Romney is the fact that he is an ardent follower of Mormonism and Mormonism has been historically and theologically proven to be a religious cult.”

Wow, you surely want to dig into the trivia.

Here’s more trivia:
Coolidge was a Congregationalist
Theodore Roosevelt was Dutch Reformed
Dwight Eisenhower was originally a Jehovah’s Witness (cultist!)
Richard Nixon was a Quaker (OMG!)
Thomas Jefferson was a Deist
Abraham Lincoln was a non-churchgoer (shades of FDT!) accused of atheism
Taft was a Unitarian (no Trinity!)

Now before we tear up your whole Mormon-bashing premise by pointing out how Romney has *amply* addressed *any* valid concerns about Mormonism affecting his role as POTUS, let me ask you:

Was America harmed by the heretical/faithless affiliations of these previous Presidents?

What heretical and apostate sect are *you* member of?

Former governor Mitt Romney, who once described himself as a supporter of strong gun laws, is distancing himself from that rhetoric now as he attempts to court the gun owners who make up a significant force in Republican primary politics.

In his 1994 US Senate run, Romney backed two gun-control measures strongly opposed by the National Rifle Association and other gun-rights groups: the Brady Bill, which imposed a five-day waiting period on gun sales, and a ban on certain assault weapons.

“That’s not going to make me the hero of the NRA,” Romney told the Boston Herald in 1994.

“That’s not going to make me the hero of the NRA,” Romney told the Boston Herald in 1994.

At another campaign stop that year, he told reporters: “I don’t line up with the NRA.”

And as the GOP gubernatorial candidate in 2002, Romney lauded the state’s strong laws during a debate against Democrat Shannon O’Brien. “We do have tough gun laws in Massachusetts; I support them,” he said. “I won’t chip away at them; I believe they protect us and provide for our safety.”

Today, as he explores a presidential bid, Romney is sending a very different message on gun issues, which are far more prominent in Republican national politics than in Massachusetts.

He now touts his work as governor to ease restrictions on gun owners. He proudly describes himself as a member of the NRA — though his campaign won’t say when he joined. And Friday, at his campaign’s request, top officials of the NRA and the National Shooting Sports Foundation led him around one of the country’s biggest gun shows..

“We do have tough gun laws in Massachusetts,” Romney said in his 2002 gubernatorial campaign. “I support them. I won’t chip away at them.” In fact, as governor, Romney signed America’s first state-level assault-weapons ban.

“These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense,” Romney said in 2004. “They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people.”

Yesteryear’s Romney also backed a federal assault-weapons ban and the national Brady Bill, which created a five-day wait for handgun purchases. “That’s not going to make me the hero of the NRA,” Romney said in 1994. However, he added: “I don’t line up with the NRA.”

It appears he has had a come to Jesus moment.

His record stands. Gun grabber.

He didn’t grab guns as Governor, though; that’s his record.
Despite these positions you mention, NRA gave him a “B” rating in 2002 and every gun bill he signed was NRA supported.

I read it. These positions were from 2004.

I welcome the change in his positions and his attendance at the 2007 S.H.O.T. Show.

However, his record stands.

Rudy has stated he is all about the 2nd Amendment now as well.

I have a hard time excusing the past records on both.

He didn’t grab guns as Governor, though; that’s his record.

Assachusetts (The Bay Gay State) already has some of the most draconian gun laws in the country. He may not have grabbed any guns on his watch, but he was a supporter of the 1994 AWB. Now AWB2 is pending in Congress and the next president will see it land on his desk. To date, Romney has given no indication that AWB2 is DOA if he's president. So either he supports it, as was the case in 1994, or he's hedging his bets. Irregardless, I don't trust the man and I believe he would sign AWB2 into law. I can be neutral about a lot of things, but when it comes to gutting the Second Amendment, you don't get my vote.
