Yesterday, at the end of Mitt Romney's speech, he told a story from the early days of the First Continental Congress, whose members were meeting in Philadelphia in 1774: "With Boston occupied by British troops . . . and fears of an impending war . . . someone suggested they pray." But because of the variety of religious denominations represented, there were objections. "Then Sam Adams rose and said he would hear a prayer from anyone of piety and good character, as long as they were a patriot."

I agree with you about Huckabee, but I just don't consider Mitt to be Presidential material.
Thank you!
Exactly. This is just a smoke screen to deflect attention from his abortion flip flopping and other non-conservative beliefs. I'm an atheist and I could care less about the religious aspect of this race. The only time religion is an issue with me is if it's an anti-American religion, such as islam.
The Second Amendment is my hot button issue. If you're a gun grabber, you do not get my vote, period.
The NRA doesn't always talk for me. And I noticed that "pro-gun" isn't in your tag line. At least that aspect of your tag line is in compliance with truth in advertising regulations.
...and I would add, that we are talking about primaries, not the General election. Too all those who would paint yourselves into a corner, before we have a clue who the nominees of either party will be. Just consider what your hard over, narrow, single issue, mindless attitude will get you when it is applied to the General election. I don’t believe I have been witness to so much...sentence self censored.
Not a Romney supporter at present, however if he is nominated, am I going to assume wrongly so, that any democrat, is preferable, and the same goes for every other Republican running for the office of President. None of them will fulfill all of anyones dream of the perfect candidate. None of them are and none of them claim to be and it is incumbent on us the voters not to expecct them to be or vote as if you are and they aren’t. JMHO.
The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the members of the several state legislatures, and all executive and judicial officers, both of the United States and of the several states, shall be bound by oath or affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.
My part of Iowa is right across the river from Nauvoo. We know all about Mormons here, believe me.
In my opinion, it is self-destructive for Christians to make Romney’s religion an issue. Romney and his family are very private when it comes to religion. They don’t proselytize. Ironically, it is the Christians who are giving Mormonism all the publicity it’s getting. If they are afraid of giving Mormonism more exposure (and they should be), then shut up about it.
What happened on 911 demonstrated that even infamous acts of murder can be useful publicity for certain religions. The old adage “No publicity is bad publicity applies here.”
Really. We're not voting for Pope. We're voting for President and we want one who isn't a frikkin' socialist.
I’ve read that before.
What is your point in posting it?
Are you suggesting that it is unconstitutional for a voter to reject Mitt Romney as a candidate because he is a Mormon?
Did the NRA endorse the bills about more rights for homosexuals?
If you mean that they glow in the dark, eat small children with horseradish sauce, jog nude in the rain, and re-use old postage stamps.......................we know! Now go away and play in traffic!
Better than “vote for me, because every other candidate has something wrong with them”.
I believe he meant bills that dealt with guns.
Which bill are you speaking of that Mitt Romney signed into law for “more rights for homosexuals”. We could search to see if the NRA took a position on it.
What’s your point?
“Did the NRA endorse the bills about more rights for homosexuals?” Romney didn’t pass any such bill. The issue that Mitt Romney faced was gay marriage, and he was consistently against it, and for traditional marriage.
Moreover, as one of the candidates who stayed married to his first wife and is a dedicated father, he has walked the walk on ‘family values’ in his personal life.
“Every bill Mitt Romney signed as Governor was NRA supported.”
“The NRA doesn’t always talk for me. And I noticed that “pro-gun” isn’t in your tag line.”
1. Tag line runs out of space. If they’d allow more space, I’d put it in.
2. I support the 2nd Amendment RKBA.
3. Mitt Romney supports the 2nd Amendment RKBA.
