Taylor's Death a grim reminder for us all.
Fox Sports ^ | Nov 28, 2007 | Jason Whitlock

There's a reason I call them the Black KKK. The pain, the fear and the destruction are all the same.

Someone who loved Sean Taylor is crying right now. The life they knew has been destroyed, an 18-month-old baby lost her father, and, if you're a black man living in America, you've been reminded once again that your life is in constant jeopardy of violent death. The Black KKK claimed another victim, a high-profile professional football player with a checkered past this time.

No, we don't know for certain the circumstances surrounding Taylor's death. I could very well be proven wrong for engaging in this sort of aggressive speculation. But it's no different than if you saw a fat man fall to the ground clutching his chest. You'd assume a heart attack, and you'd know, no matter the cause, the man needed to lose weight.

Well, when shots are fired and a black man hits the pavement, there's every statistical reason to believe another black man pulled the trigger. That's not some negative, unfair stereotype. It's a reality we've been living with, tolerating and rationalizing for far too long.

When the traditional, white KKK lynched, terrorized and intimidated black folks at a slower rate than its modern-day dark-skinned replacement, at least we had the good sense to be outraged and in no mood to contemplate rationalizations or be fooled by distractions.

Good point, but if the suspect in this case were a white man you can be damn sure that this piece of information would be plastered across the front page of every newspaper in the country.

Actually the police said today this shooting has all the appearance of a random act. Who knows?

The police also said it "could have been a possible burglary." Whenever I hear phrases like "all the appearance of" and "could have been a possible," my bullsh!t meter goes off big-time. How many other "random" people in that municipality have been murdered in a similar fashion in the last 10 years?

Some other Freeper astutely pointed out that the comments by this Sharpstein character are completely bizarre. He was Taylor’s lawyer a while back and may still have maintained some kind of contact with him later, but these comments were about details of the case that he should have known absolutely nothing about.

‘According to his girlfriend, the alarm was turned off to accommodate a house guest who was visiting. The same girlfriend, by the way, who was hiding under the covers and therefore unable to identify the attacker(s).’

I wonder if they checked the girlfriends hands for Gun Shot Residue.

"Bookmarking... to see how much material Bill O’Reilly takes out of context from this thread."

LOL - you got that one right.

Certainly. I'm still waiting for a suspect to be arrested. The article was correct with respect to statistical probabilities. If the speculation was correct, the story will be buried.

Notice how quickly the story of that Denver Broncos player who was shot to death after a playoff game last season disappeared from the news. Heck — I don’t even know if they’ve ever arrested anyone in that case.

Yes. The media buries any story that doesn't fit their agenda.

>> If its not racial why compare it with the KKK?

Amateur hat on.
The KKK may be symbolic or archetypal to them of the the dark forces in mankind, which they see.. including of themselves. And within those dark forces, it can manifest/operate as an ideology, and then further manifest itself in a group of individuals where those thoughts resonate with each other, who then may cause great harm to a few or many peoples.<<

That sounds like a reasonable explanation. Thanks.

I should also add that this passage near the end of Whitlock's column is one of tbe best comments I've ever seen in an article of this sort . . .

The "keepin' it real" mantra of hip hop is in direct defiance to evolution. There's always someone ready to tell you you're selling out if you move away from the immature and dangerous activities you used to do, you're selling out if you speak proper English, embrace education, dress like a grown man, do anything mainstream.

This one is right up there with Bill Cosby's rant about African-American parents who let their kids dress like thugs . . . "What are you doing -- waiting for Jesus to pull his pants up and put his hat on straight?!?"

Bill Cosby is one of the few sane voices in the black community. Jesse Lee Peterson also deserves kudos for his efforts.

I do not think there is necessarily a probblem with barring felons from owning firearm (at least not while they are still on probabtion, and reconizing that their situations where the prohibition is abuse) , but listen to the coach of the Browns take on this:

Crennel cautions:

In the context of Taylor’s murder, Crennel said he reminds his players they must be aware of their surroundings. He said he doesn’t know if any of them have guns and “if they do have guns, I’ve told them to turn them in.”

I really do not understand how that last sentence relates possibly to what happened to Tayolor in any rational world.

“Get the facts straight before publishing an article.”

Which ones?
“Someone who loved Sean Taylor is crying right now...”
“..the life they knew has been destroyed, an 18-month-old baby lost her father..”
“...when shots are fired and a black man hits the pavement, there’s every statistical reason to believe another black man pulled the trigger.”
“...KKK lynched, terrorized and intimidated black folks at a slower rate than its modern-day dark-skinned replacement...”
“...there was a story circulating that members of the black press were complaining that news outlets were disrespecting Taylor’s victimhood by reporting on his troubled past.”
“His immature, undisciplined behavior with his employer”
“...his run-ins with law enforcement...”
“...allegedly threatening a man with a loaded gun...”
“...a vehicle he owned was once sprayed with bullets.”

These and the rest of the article contains facts not in dispute.

I agree - a well-written article. Anyone listen to Chris Plante Wednesday night? He stated a frightening statistic. In this year alone, over 8,000 black males in the 18-24 age range will have been murdered. Not just died but murdered! That is more than the six years of US casualities in Iraq, Ashcanistan, and 9/11 combined. Plus, I heard the other day that for the last three years there has been 1 murder pay day in the city of Philadelphia.

The black culture in America has more or less surrendered to a culture of not just death but one of degradation and ignorance. Concerning just the one aspect of music, before this rap/hip-hop crap, we had great American soul music, R&B, and blues. A lot of that music was inspiring and uplifting. Not today. Death, dealing drugs, living in filth, degrading women and each other. Somehow that has got to stop.

And this constant murder of blacks by blacks has to also stop.

I was principally focusing on the speculation surrounding who shot Taylor. The facts detailed in the article about his life experience were not in dispute.
