Taylor's Death a grim reminder for us all.
Fox Sports ^ | Nov 28, 2007 | Jason Whitlock

Posted on 11/28/2007 3:56:57 PM PST by JohnD9207

There's a reason I call them the Black KKK. The pain, the fear and the destruction are all the same.

Someone who loved Sean Taylor is crying right now. The life they knew has been destroyed, an 18-month-old baby lost her father, and, if you're a black man living in America, you've been reminded once again that your life is in constant jeopardy of violent death. The Black KKK claimed another victim, a high-profile professional football player with a checkered past this time.

No, we don't know for certain the circumstances surrounding Taylor's death. I could very well be proven wrong for engaging in this sort of aggressive speculation. But it's no different than if you saw a fat man fall to the ground clutching his chest. You'd assume a heart attack, and you'd know, no matter the cause, the man needed to lose weight.

Well, when shots are fired and a black man hits the pavement, there's every statistical reason to believe another black man pulled the trigger. That's not some negative, unfair stereotype. It's a reality we've been living with, tolerating and rationalizing for far too long.

When the traditional, white KKK lynched, terrorized and intimidated black folks at a slower rate than its modern-day dark-skinned replacement, at least we had the good sense to be outraged and in no mood to contemplate rationalizations or be fooled by distractions.

“Had to turn it off because the cat set it off.”

Same problem. But I have one room at front/street side of house. No motion detector in there. If I am going out, kitty cats (2) are put there. Litter box, food, water and they are fine. Hey, cats sleep most of the time anyway.

Anyone know the math stats on your chances of being murdered as a white man, compared to a black man?

I’m sure that stat is eye popping.

Black on Black crime is awful, its just rare when someone talks about other soultions rather than Bush’s fault, 400 years of..., crud. The writer was harsh but truthful.

Thank you, Jason.

This is a hard row to hoe, though. Brings to mind reading some of the responses to articles in the MSM on Michael Vick. Anyone who even suggest Vick was responsible for his actions was called racist or, if black, worse.

What I find stunning is that black youth may know who Cosby is, because he was such a big force in entertainment.

But, these same youths probably do not even know Clarence Thomas’ name and why his life is so extraordinary.

As a society, we should all celebrate success and teach our children the value of self-respect, education and service to one’s nation.

Jason Whitlock is one of the best columnists in America today, and that goes beyond just sports. And I bet Jason Whitlock couldn’t give a rat’s behind what the liberals think.

Just another Proposition 48 type proposal for the black KKK (Al and Jesse) and their “Sugar Daddies” (the Liberal elite) to quickly condemn.

Taylor’s death also offers a point in rebuttal to all those folks who keep showing up at discussions of fatal officer involved shootings and saying, “why couldn’t you just shoot him in the leg”? Seems to me lots of those folks are in the same KKK the author’s discussing.

Uh, except Whitlock was making the case that no matter how clean a black athlete is, he is going to be a target.

You’re taking something from his article which isn’t really there. You’re in a ‘blame the victim’ mindset because you honestly think all of these guys are criminals.

Meanwhile, a drugged up and drunk St Louis pitcher kills only himself (by good fortune) and there isn’t the same character assassination. ONly a plea for baseball to stop having beer in the clubhouse. Nothing about that man’s choices endangering himself and others.

Honestly, it’s like you didn’t even read the article. Taylor and his family are the victims here. And there more than a fair share on this forum that would have tried to recover stolen property if they knew who did it. That’s where Whitlock went wrong in his article. While making a larger point, he still found it necessary to compare TAylor to the likes of Pac-Man Jones and others.

Totally unfair. Lots of people just gave you the reasons why they had problems or have known people with problems with alarms. So the woman’s sister was coming and going and they turned it off.

What’s lost in all of this is that Taylor was abiding by his probation by not possessing a firearm and that’s probably what killed him.

I do believe, however, that Taylor should have just cut ties to Miami altogether.

If its not racial why compare it with the KKK?

Amateur hat on.
The KKK may be symbolic or archetypal to them of the the dark forces in mankind, which they see.. including of themselves. And within those dark forces, it can manifest/operate as an ideology, and then further manifest itself in a group of individuals where those thoughts resonate with each other, who then may cause great harm to a few or many peoples.

Yes, he was in his own home. A man, any man, should have the legal rights to protect himself and his family within in his own home/abode by any means necessary.

In that regard, this event among many, is illustrative of just how far this nation has drifted beyond what I thought it was about.

Except a shot to the groin is one of the best places to hit a person in order to kill him. A bullet through the femoral artery will result in a bleed out within several minutes if it is not packed immediately and fully. Even then, if you don’t pack and keep packing, the victim will bleed out. My view is that the shooter was untrained and he simply pointed and shot - no aim just bad luck for Taylor. Street thug got shot by street thug.

Subject matter aside, this is an impressive column. Well-written and tightly argued. I’m going to have to pay more attention to Mr. Whitlock.
