Robertson to Back Giuliani

Robertson to Back Giuliani By LIZ SIDOTI Associated Press Writer

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - Pat Robertson, a prominent Christian leader and social conservative, will endorse Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani, GOP officials confirmed Wednesday.

The former New York mayor backs abortion rights and gay rights, positions that put him in conflict with GOP orthodoxy, and has been trying to convince cultural conservatives to overlook their differences with him on those issues. That makes the support of a high-profile religious conservative like Robertson a particular boon.

Giuliani, the front-runner in national popularity polls, and Robertson will make the endorsement official later Wednesday at a news conference in Washington. The officials spoke on the condition of anonymity to avoid publicly pre-empting the announcement.

The endorsement is a blow to rival Mitt Romney, who has been making inroads with the powerful network of social conservative leaders. Romney recently announced that Paul Weyrich and Bob Jones III were on board with his candidacy, and he had been seeking Robertson's support.

Robertson, who unsuccessfully ran for president in 1988, founded the Christian Broadcasting Network, the Christian Coalition and Regent University in Virginia Beach.

That whooshing sound you hear is the last shred of Pat Robertson's credibility flying out the window.

Maybe Robertson will announce he’s gay and a cross dresser. I wouldn’t be surprise.

Yep. Robertson is an ignorant, old man. He has hurt far more than he’s helped the last decade.

ASA Vet correctly points out that this is a duplicate thread.

Please slice it, dice it, kill it, zot it, and if at all possible how about a HUGE, LOUD NUKE IT!

Looney tunes is too lofty a status for Robertson at this point in time.

Agreed, this is stunning. I do believe that senility may be playing a role in this (if not outright spiritual deception). Giuliani is the antithesis of a biblical view of morality. These are strange times.

He has hurt far more than he’s helped the last decade.

A ring of truth to what you're saying here.

It may be that Robertson endorsing a gay-friendly, cross-dressing, pro-abortionist may hurt Rudy.

I can only imagine Fred, Mike, Mitt et al are going...

"Whew!"
"Dodged a bullet, there."

Look, we are at war with people who want to kill us, convert or enslave us. Rudy is not perfect... none of the Republican candidates are. But he understands this fact better than any of the other candidates from a personal perspective. Remember when he turned down hundreds of thousands of dollars from the Saudis? That spoke volumes. The truth of 911 is etched upon every fiber of his being and he will prosecute this battle to the uttermost. And he will actively fight against the anti American subversives within the senate and congress that are trying to undermine those efforts. They are going to squeal like little piggies when Rudy goes on national tv and takes them to task. I am so looking forward to that. I have a great deal of respect for president Bush. Our entire family voted for him twice, but he has let his critics on the left walk all over him and NOT taken a stand against them. Jesus said we were to "turn the other cheek", but that does not mean we are to become a door mat for our enemies to step all over. He should have continually taken a stand on the TRUTH and not let them get away with their lies, distortions and attacks. Instead, he wanted to "play nice" with people who continually stab him and the American people in the back EVERY chance they get.

Is Rudy everything I want in a candidate? No but he will also NOT put up with Hillery trying to "Lazio" him by hiding behind "No fair, I am a girl!" Come the election campaign/debates, he will beat her like a rented mule. He cleaned up NY, ran that city very well, lowered taxes AND the crime rate and a whole lot of people didn't like him for it because he was tough. But that didn't bother him because he kept his eye on the ball. One more thing, in spite of his faults, Americans like him and have a lot of respect for him. He will garner a lot of independents.

He has stated that he will appoint strict constitutionalists to the SC. I for one take him at his word.

Personally as an evangelical, I like Fred, BUT Fred Thompson doesn't have the fire in his belly, does not seem to "want it" and is not willing to FIGHT for the position as much as Rudy. Sadly, he and his campaign reminds me of Senator Bob Dole... I refuse to let that happen again.

As for Mit, I live in NH and have seen first hand how he governs... no thanks. Besides, I can't vote for a guy who actually believes he is going to become the god of his own world by sexually propagating it with multitudes of spirit children his wife is going to be churning out like the queen from Aliens.
