Fire officials are now stating that the Orange County Santiago fire was purposely set and there is speculation that other fires may have also been deliberate. See Interactive Map
Fire officials found three separate “points of origin,” all near the intersection of Silverado Canyon Road and Santiago Canyon Road. Two were on one side of the road, and the third was on the other. “Whoever did this knew what they were doing, said Kris Concepcion, a fire authority battalion chief. Also, the fire traveled 3 miles in its first 20 minutes when it was ignited about 6 p.m. Sunday, he said.
We are NOT implying that the California fires are an act of terrorism however; the threat of pyro-terrorist attacks pose a significant risk to the U.S. and the fires in California and in Greece earlier this year should be a wake-up call.
In 2003 an FBI memo alerted law enforcement agencies that an al-Qaeda terrorist being held in detention had talked of masterminding a plot to set a series of devastating forest fires around the western United States.
It was reported that the detainee, who was not identified, said the plan involved three or four people setting wildfires using timed devices in Colorado, Montana, Utah and Wyoming that would detonate in forests and grasslands after the operatives had left the country.
The detainee believed that significant damage to the U.S. economy would result and once it was realized that the fires were terrorist acts, U.S. citizens would put pressure on the U.S. government to change its policies, the memo said.
How Can So Many Fires Be By Natural Causes ?
A Local News Radio talk show host in San Diego asked, “how can so many fires, in so many places, in such a short period of time, all be caused by natural causes”.

al-Qaeda Detainee Spoke of Fire Plot
As we have stated before. If you see anything suspicious, report it to law enforcement immediately.
UPDATE: Video - Officials say arson now suspected in Orange County Fire
UPDATE: From Los Angeles Fox News
“I’m sad to report this is an arson fire,” OCFA Chief Chip Prather announced at an early morning briefing. “There were three separate starts: two on one side of the road and one on the other, and obviously we are actively investigating that.”
Links - A number of blogs and websites have sprung up to report on the fires. We will provide links to a couple we’ve found.

We have a friend or two out there, also.
Not to be glib, but let’s pray it rains catz & dawgs.
Hey freema! We were getting lonely out here and I may take a nap soon or have to evacuate, whichever comes first.
I did a final sweep of all the news I’m able to get right now and I’m heading for some shuteye. Have a good morning.
Since the base is more or less closed off to the public now, whatever they do will be classified for awhile. I would imagine there is some harrowing things being done to stop this fire. If I remember right, they have a helicopter base located west of the 5 freeway. Hard to tell though since they put up walls to block the view of us civilians driving on the 5 freeway. Could be some interesting conflicts on who is responsible for securing San Onofre during a catastrophic event. Hopefully they have worked on those issues out.
Have a good night and thanks for the info. I still have another hour or two of tylenol to wear off so will hang around to see some video of where the Horno fire ended up.
Adam Housely from Fox News has just reported ,but said he does not think it has been reported yet. The HIGHWAY PATROL in a chopper, saw a guy riding a Harley who was starting a fire. The Troopers caught the guy. Will be intesting to see what they find out about him.
They did speculate on if this was an act of terrorism. Be it foreign or domestic anyone who intentionally starts a fire, is a terrorist.
Interesting that the Castle in Malibu was one of the first to go. Just HAPPENED to be owned by a princess connected to the former Shah of Iran ? Maybe that Mahdi wannabe has been casting some magic spells or something ?
“”As a law enforcement fire investigator, I have been involved way too many times in this type of investigation. I have been employed in my present position for 13 years, as a full-time fire investigator in a suburban county in Northern NJ. In those 13 years, we have arrested over 30 volunteers for the crime of arson. Many of these had multiple fires charged to them. We have a 100% guilty rate, as none of these persons ever took a case to trial. This is a huge problem in the volunteer fire service.””
Not to mention the “professional” firefighters like good ol’ Johnny Orr. Good thing he’s still locked up, huh? This kind of fire would be right up his alley. Back in the day, when my dad worked for the US Forest Circus, he told me of fires set by the Ind... errr Native Americans, because it would assure them of paid employment, AND each man would be nicely re-equipped with clothes, sleeping bags, shovels, etc. Note that there are several tribes down those parts of California.
As far as the timing goes, it doesn’t take real genius to set off the tinderbox at the time of year well-known for fires.
GRRRRREAT post! Bump-to-the-top!
Is it possible someone might be trying to get rid of illegals camping in the canyons?

It is against the financial interests of mexis to burnthe homes of californians.
Can’t be terrorists, according to this thread. Its leftover jap baloons and people with adjustable rate mortgages
Not to smart if true. It would be very easy to defeat. Just keep you windows up.
The best kept secret of IR imaging devices is that they cannot "see" through solid surfaces. All solids, including glass.
SoCal is like living in a fireworks factory. It doesn’t matter if it’s Al Queda, a couple of loons/firebugs, a cigarette out hte window or a camping fire that spreads. The end results are all disastrous. Of course, a planned arson campaign would be worse, but terrorism is not the only way a mass of fires can start. Once a few start, crazy Santa Ana winds drive them in all directions. Then the uplift sends burning branches miles ahead, jumping firelines and starting fresh outbreaks.
I’m glad that only Momma Nature can start a hurricane, our local worry in north FL.
Just a lucky guess,,,,,ILLEGALS are killing Americans on a daily basis, doing the jobs Americans won't do,,,it's only logical that they would be committing arson....they are here ILLEGALLY, committing crimes, killing Americans, makes sense to me..............
