Are Some Men Predisposed To Pedophilia?
ScienceDaily (Oct. 23, 2007) — Height may point to a biological basis for pedophilia, according to new research released by the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). The study found that pedophilic males were shorter on average than males without a sexual attraction to children.
The study, published in Sexual Abuse: A Journal of Research and Treatment, suggests that pedophiles may have been exposed to pre-birth conditions that affected their physical development. The researchers observed this height difference by analyzing the files of over 1,000 men who were assessed for pedophilia or other sexual disorders between 1995 and 2006 at the Kurt Freund Laboratory in Toronto, Canada.
A difference in average height is a trait found in other illnesses with biological links. The average difference in height was two centimeters, which is similar to the shorter height associated with schizophrenia or Alzheimer's disease.
Further research is necessary, but this finding re-enforces evidence that pedophilia has a biological cause, possibly related to brain development before birth.
"This research does not mean that pedophiles are not criminally responsible for their behavior," said Dr. James Cantor, CAMH Psychologist and lead researcher on the study, "but the discovery of biological markers for pedophilia has important implications for future study and possibly treatment."
This study adds to previous research from this team that found pedophiles have lower IQs, are three times more likely to be left-handed, failed school grades significantly more frequently, and suffered more head injuries as children.

Well, there you have it. It is genetic. They can’t help it, they were born that way. Wait a minute .......................this sounds oddly familiar.
Why are so many people on this thread railing against the data? I see NOTHING in the article that suggests that pedophiles are blameless.
It is wilful blindness to insist that there are NOT predispositions to certain crimes—especially crimes involving violence and lust. To admit that there are predispositions in some people is in no way contrary to traditional Christian thinking. ORIGINAL SIN is a predisposition—and no well-informed Chritian thinks that it’s an excuse or a license to sin.
People who are ALERT to predispositions—like parents who are smart enough and courageous enough to notice signs of gender confusion in a young child—are better equipped to deal creatively with situations. People who rigidly proclaim “FREE WILL!” and “THEY’RE JUST EVIL!” to the exclusion of all psychological insight are doing a service to no one.
We need MORE understanding of people’s motives, their affective and cognitive deficiencies, and how to identify time-bombs, not less.
There is also such a thing as brain damage, chemical imbalance and children who were abused who grow up to abuse. An evil act done by a person because of a defective brain and/or a defective upbringing is no less an evil act. As I see it, these are not mitigating factors in the guilt of a person unless that person is so defective as to have no conception of right and wrong. But in any case such a person needs to be locked up for the protection of society. I see no hint or suggestion in this article that child molesters should be able to walk around freely because they are not responsible for their actions. On the contrary, if this study turns out to be correct, it just reinforces that child molesters are born that way and cannot be cured with todays medical knowledge and we should be even more convinced than ever that they are an ever-present danger and should seldom if ever be allowed to return to society.
maybe the taller molesters just don't get caught as quickly, skewing the stats.....
anyway, next we'll learn that child molesters are mostly boy scouts and Catholics, with blond hair and blue eyes....
if the science community wants a connection, they can find one somehow...

Dr. Laura Schlessinger pointed this out about the homosexual community years ago. They are prone to trying to indoctinate very young males into their lifestyle. When she simply pointed out this fact, the militant homosexuals went on a jihad against her. They can’t stand the truth.
Just the first step in going down the same road the homosexuals have. . .to claim they are born that way and can’t help it.
