“Just to clarify, he is the self described “Father of the 9.11Truth Movement” and was profiled on the History Channel as such”

ah ha!

Let me ask you a question. Who do you think the terrorists enjoy watching more on TV? Aljazeera or the [9/11]commission coverage in the United States? I say it’s a toss-up. I say the terrorists are having trouble making up their minds which is better for them — the press coverage of the commission hearings in this country or Aljazeera, their own network in the Middle East.
-Rush Limbaugh

We are reviewing the testimony, the grilling, the interrogation of noted criminal Dr. Condoleezza Rice who appeared before the law today, the 9/11 Commission attempting to assign blame and seeking to affix it to the Bush administration via beating up on the girl. Only in Washington when the girl is a Republican and a black can you beat up on her.
-Rush Limbaugh

Is Rush Limbaugh a ‘truther’?

Truthers apparently eat this sort of stuff up, but they are reading into it the wrong way, as are many on FR who associate Paul with Truthers.

Then why does he agree that further investigations are necessary? He could shut this down by simply telling the Truther he's not going along with any investigation because their claims are fanciful. But he doesn't (and hasn't) done that.

The more he seeks attention (by attending shows like Alex Jones) in these circles the more he makes the real world question his honesty if not his sanity. And your explanations are nothing more than spin. Before he was on Alex Jones a lot cuz no one else would take him, this is now changing. :) So, if I read you right he goes on Alex Jones for exposure. Yet he doesn't in any way support their beliefs. It's exposure, pure and simple. If true, the black truth to that is he's courting a segment of the voting public he has no intention of representing once in office. He's misleading and lying to them. Either that or he does support their beliefs and his denials to us are the untruths. Which is it? is he lying to them or to us? You can't have it both ways.

Don't put it off on 'this is what politicians do to get elected'. It's far beyond that. It's either openly pandering a group he doesn't respect or defrauding the conservative wing of the GOP (to which he openly subscribes) when he's in effect a closet Truther.

Next they’ll say you can’t concentrate on what they are saying and they’ll create a special camp to help you learn how to do that.

Oooops...turns out I'm busy the weekend of that camp. I just checked my calendar and that's the weekend I have plans to stick hot pokers in my eyes and rub them around some.

Damn scheduling conflicts.

I don’t know, did Rush Limbaugh go on the Alex Jones’ show multiple times and take part in Alex Jones’ documentary ‘Matrix of Evil’?

More proof of what we already knew. Legitimizing this creep is not worth any gain Paul can justify. And how stupid - especially since his foot is still so far in his mouth about 9/11, you would think he’d have enough sense to distance himself from this type of crap.

well, I’ll agree with you, I don’t really know what purpose more investigations into 9/11 would serve. So I disagree with Paul on this. Although it would be nice to expose government for the corrupt and political rotting body it is, and maybe get some support to abolish some of it. :)

Did you know that some of the 9/11 comissioners attended a special pre-screening of Michael Moore’s pure propoganda Fahrenheit 9/11?

I think it’s fair to say he does go to Alex Jones for exposure, but, as you suggest, there’s probably also a degree to which Paul agrees with Alex Jones on other issues. Alex Jones does a lot more than talk about 9/11, he’s more or less a libertarian on almost all the other issues, is my understanding, I’ve never listened to him, so I don’t really know, but I’m sure he and Paul agree in a lot of areas. I’m sure there are things you agree with Alex Jones with, maybe you’d like to pay less taxes for instance (gasp!).

What if you went on Alex Jones and talked about lowering taxes? Would that make you a ‘truther’?

I just heard about the History Channel showing from someone else here today. So I think the answer is yes. I would like to see it.

Read what you post. The paragraph's point you post wasn't the 9/11 commission but the MSM coverage of same.

Thanks for the fodder. Rush's point is the attempt to assign blame here in the US. Ron Paul's agreeing to further investigations is just more of the piling-on-blame game. And this video shows him amenable to that.

Of course Rush isn't a Truther. In the above examples you so thoughtlessly post he's criticizing efforts of that sort. But Ron Paul isn't criticizing them. He's showing himself happy to further such efforts.

That's despicable.

I would like to modify an earlier statement I made on Free Republic.

In a moment of compassion I said that Ron Paul is the Patron Saint of the Mentally Ill.

That was wrong of me.

Ron Paul is the Patron Saint of the Criminally Insane.

It was a good show. It totally devastated the nuts, both by showing them ranting and by presenting real science to refute them.

......but the staffer that set up these appearances should be fired...it really damages Paul's credibility

You think the man is qualified to be President but not qualified to decide if he should appear on shows like this?

That's a very good point. If you check out mnehrling's link in post 12 http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=22739, it's fair to say most of his supporters there are either supportive or accepting of the Alex Jones connection. Is he going to dump on them, or as a couple suggest, disassociate himself now, then initiate these investigations after becoming President.

Are his friends and supporters important.

Human Events: Follow-up -- thank you -- follow-up question. [Laughter] Take two minutes and tell me the people that you would name to your cabinet or to your official family.

RP: Probably, I won’t do a very good job of that because I haven’t thought that through and there are certainly a lot of friends and –

Well, yeah. They're his supporters, they're his friends, and it's reasonable to assume they'll be involved on a Paul administration. And he has a lot of friends.

Or, as bcsco suggests, he may just dump them, in itself not much of a recomendation.

I wouldn't be on Alex Jones's show to begin with. I know who he is, know what he stands for, and there's no way I'd associate myself with that; running or not running for office. But you see, I'm an honest guy. And I know enough not to associate myself with kook, fringe, elements because their dirt WILL wash off.

But Ron Paul DOES do it. You say it 'may' be because he agrees with Jones on other issues. Well, the fact of the matter is Alex Jones IS the head Truther out there. And he flagrantly promotes that recognition. Whether there are other issues or not, I don't know. but I do know that when one associates himself with Alex Jones, one also, by default, associates himself with the Truther movement. And unless/until that individual publicly denounces such movement, he will rightfully be seen as a Truther. Other issues be damned.

Your saying "I don’t really know what purpose more investigations into 9/11 would serve. So I disagree with Paul on this." is a tacit acknowledgment that Ron Paul would actively seek further investigations. Your admission removes you from the rolls of Truthers, but not him. That he has to do for himself. Will he? I doubt it, and I'm beginning to believe you doubt it also.

Ron Paul is his own worst enemy. He's seeking acceptance from a fringe group no one honestly seeking the presidential nomination should associate with. Sorry, this makes him persona non grata with conservatives who what to see victory in the WOT. And that's what he'll stay.

Perhaps this is clearer, Rush Limbaugh on the 9/11 commission and the coming feature ‘path to 9/11’ by ABC which he thinks would present a more accurate picture, just like Paul believes a new 9/11 investigation would yield a more accurate picture:

http://www.libertypost.org/cgi-bin/readart.cgi?ArtNum=157383

You know, folks, the whole 9/11 Commission, if you go back and look at these things that we know now, the Clinton administration’s ability to camouflage history, to rewrite it, is just amazing. Look at who they got on the 9/11 Commission. They got Jamie Gorelick, who authored the wall, and this mini-series explains the wall and gives illustrations of fact of how it hurt our ability to capture Osama bin Laden. I’ll get to that in just a second. They had had Gorelick on there; they had Ben-Veniste (who was a partisan hack lawyer from the Watergate days), and Tim Roemer, who is a Democrat from Indiana, and that was to ensure that the Clinton administration was protected, and so that the top structural explanation for intelligence failure was white-washed.

Look, the 9/11 committee was nothing more than camouflage. In fact, you know what the word for it was? To get Gorelick and Tim Roemer and Ben-Veniste on the 9/11 Commission, they were censors. What Clinton wants ABC to do is censor certain things.

What surprises us is the whitewash of all this and how they were so successful at doing it at the 9/11 Commission.

Oh, so that’s why Ron Paul supporters are often so nutty.

Ron really does his beliefs a disservice by doing this...but then again, I never really supported his foreign policy.

Frankly, your use of these Rush segments escapes me. The Rush segments you bring up are critical of the 9/11 commission because it failed to look into issues dealing with the Clinton Administration, and their policies which in part led to 9/11. These segments, and the 9/11 commission had nothing to do with Truther beliefs of LIHOP or MIHOP. That’s a totally separate issue, but THE issue which Truthers, Alex Jones, and Ron Paul by extension, support.

Your posts are straw dogs. I agree with Rush that Gorelick and others actively suppressed parts of the investigation. But that doesn’t mean it had anything to do with Truther doctrine. It was to protect the image of the Clinton legacy.

You have to better than this. The problem is, you can’t. Ron Paul has made his bed. It’s now time for him to sleep in it.
