DURHAM, N.C. — Duke University President Richard Brodhead apologized Saturday for not better supporting the men's lacrosse players falsely accused in last year's highly publicized rape scandal. "Given the complexities of this case, getting the communication right would never have been easy," Brodhead said. "But the fact is that we did not get it right, causing the families to feel abandoned when they were most in need of support. This was a mistake. I take responsibility for it and I apologize for it."

I'm sure they got plenty of money from Duke, and they will get a lot more from the City of Durham. Not sure if the state is liable. Then there is the lab that conspired with Nifong to withold evidence. You can bet they are going to get hit, too.

At what other college has the season been canceled and the coach fired when a player/players were accused of a major crime? From the start at Duke there were questions if a crime had even occurred.
At Notre Dame more than three football players were involved in an actual rape a few years ago, at Baylor one basketball player murdered another, at Penn State a football player beat a cop so badly he had to be hospitalized yet the guy was not even expelled from the team. In none of these and many other cases of major crimes committed by athletes was the season canceled and the coach fired.
Screw the “innocent” Dukies and their wreathed families.

Well, not exactly. The annual fund is not down ,because they pulled more out of their endownment and they got some big donations from the likes of Melinda Gates, not "alumni"
Second, the applicant pool was WAY different this year. For the class of '011, over 40 % of them are Asian, mostly from out West, which indicates of course that the number of white kids from out of State, including relatives of alumni, etc, are way down. I dont think theres a top tier college in the country except for Berkely that has that type of student profile, and remember this happened all in one year, more than doubling that particular minority representation.( the only way to keep avg. SAT scores up, for the rankings)
And this isnt the end of it. The big alumni contributors who like Div I sports like basketball are PISSED. Thats what this speech is all about , and nothing else. Dumbhead could give a crap about anyone else. I hope they jettison this clown, he has caused irreperable damage to the school.
Not true, meathead. Two of the 3 were 19 year old second stringers who went to a team party during Spring Break and had NOTHING to do whatsoever with hiring strippers, and left almost immediately after she showed up. By your criteria, 80 % of college students could end up in jail for life just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Youre a bigotted clown like the plurality of Durhamites who voted in FAVOR of the FRAMEUP (that's what it was), and I hope they force Durham into unincorporation (excellent possibility). What a sewer of a town.

In the federal govt. it is accepted by whites that most blacks do not trust or like whites. Not all, but most.
Blacks have the ability to really hurt the career of a white guy, or at least make his life miserable just by making accusations and pressing an EEO case.
There are many exceptions, many really great black people, but once you are accused, you can see that many blacks who once would talk with you, start to ignore you.
The new reality is that there is a black Klan. The white liberals excuse this racism, and call it reverse racism. They justify it in many ways, like saying it is not a level playing field, or they are treated really bad by whites in America, or how would you like to be black.
They are suprised when whites are resentful of the first class black citizens, they call that righteous resentmen, racism. White today are actually resentfull of the black people who are being treated better than white people under the law, in the liberal media, in the courts, and do not forget how unfairly the liberal fascist college professors treat people. The only thing that makes it bearable is that black people like Clarence Thomas, Condi Rice, Jesse Lee Peterson, and other heroes are undergoing even greater persecution. These blacks are inspirational and heroic to me. May they live forever, and when they die, they should go straight to heaven.

I have said it before and I’ll say it once more, A bunch of drunken testerone filled athletes of college age and a couple of whores, who may be drug and alcohol addicts.
There is no glory here, but the Duke college liberals, the black college, the liberal press, the NAACP and the rest of the black Klan, and a crooked prosecutor made this into a major civil rights case.
They should all be sued until the cows come home. I am aware of the maturity level of the average college student. The maturity level is very low. So I do not blame their families.
Unacceptable.
Get rid of the Duke 88 and do what you can to make sure that they never teach again.
