Police in Norfolk, Va., are investigating whether an alleged attack against a 13-year-old boy that witnesses caught on tape Saturday was racially motivated, WAVY-TV reported Monday. The tape shows the victim, Damien O'Rourke, who is white, being violently beaten by a group of African American teenagers.
Some of the people on this thread seem to believe that that is in order.

That doesn't sound like an alleged attack to me, sounds like the kid got 'jumped'.
Hmmm. Why is it that the victim is "white" but the perps are "African-Americans"?
Why isn't the victim a "Caucasian-American"?
Or why aren't the perps "blacks"?

Guess it’s a crime ONLY if a black kids is hurt, by whites of course.
The most important question on my mind is “who shot the video?”
Definition of allege: To assert without or before proof.
Definition of attack: To set upon with violent force.
The tape shows an attack, about 5 boys beating and kicking one boy. To say “alleged attack” gives the impression that a) The boy who was attacked has no proof or b) it hasn’t been proven to be an attack. Even if the boy in some way provoked it (not saying that he did, just speaking hypothetically), he was still attacked. Five boys beating one boy, no matter what the reason, is an attack.
We are going to wait a long time for leaders of the “White community” to go to Norfolk and lead a 10,000 white-person demonstration against this display of racism. Here is the rule: when white kids attack black kids, it is racism; when black kids attack white kids, it is youthful exuberance.

I saw this on fox this morning. Didn’t look too “alleged” to me, looked pretty much like a real attack
I can’t wait to hear what Soledad or Sam Donaldson will have to say about THIS. I’m sure they’ll demand justice for the kid who was beaten. /sarcasm

What “alleged??” If it is caught on tape, there is no “alleged” about it. PC “news” dumbs down yet another perfectly useful word.
I know, I went through High School in Southern Maryland in the early ‘70s. It got a wee bit rough at times.
I was brutally attacked in this manner when I was a junior in High School by a group of senior black thugs. I was part of a white minority in a majority black school and was tormented daily for being white. To add insult to injury a black vice-principal campaigned to have me expelled along with the attackers because she believed their ridiculous story that I purportedly caused the attack by calling them racial slurs. Fortunately the principal knew that aside from being a good student, I wouldn’t commit verbal suicide.
I learned a hard reality in High School that some folks only understand violence and can’t be reasoned with. That is one reason why I carry...
