Amazing Photo: Nun Searched for Bombs by Muslim in USA
Jihad Watch ^ | Sep 22, 2007 | Robert Spencer

Posted on 09/23/2007 8:00:31 AM PDT by Travis McGee

Hijabbed security guard frisks nun (thanks to all who sent this in).

Of course there should be random searches, and no one should be exempt -- if any group is exempt, its dress will soon be adopted by the terrorists.

But there is an absurdity to this photo. And a hint that maybe we would do better devoting our resources to searching those who are more likely to be threats -- were that not so politically incorrect.

Conservative religious orders of Catholic nuns do wear full habits, and this sister certainly looked quite legit to me. I suspect that TSA Agent Hijab was searching her just to make a point, though.

Most of the searching is absolutely useless unless one is going to catch the blatantly ignorant terrorist. What is the value of searching an old person who has a hip replacement especially when it is clear they do not fit even remotely the profile of terrorists?

Given what is allowed through current screening processes I’m certain that a terrorist or group of terrorists could easily breach security provided they are not on our watch lists or represent another red flag. The easiest way I see is with disassembled weapons. It only takes small amounts of seemingly innocuous metal or specialized ceramic or plastics to produce weapons just as effective as those used during the 9-11 hijackings. Even something as simple as a belt buckle modified to have a sharpened edge would be very effective for cutting throats.

I have seen many improvements where airport security is concerned especially in the increasing use of automation but the key thing we need to deal with the fact that they can get through our existing security. Tests have been conducted by DHS and they have succeeded in getting weapons and other materials through security checkpoints and onto planes during security assessments. We need to be ready for what happens the next time terrorists attempt to hijack a plane in the air because we aren’t going to stop it on the ground.

I know exactly what to say. It was wrong and everyone knows it. This Nun should have been taken to a private room, as they do with others, and searched if that’s what had to be done. And not done by a muslim who hates Christians. We shouldn’t even have muslims looking for muslim terrorist in security. Muslim women are subserviant to muslim men.....and you want them looking for terrorists? We are fools.

I agree with you. What bothers me is the knee jerk indignation at stupid photos that don’t mean a thing. It takes attention away from the real issues and problems.

It’s a really bad habit to frisk Nuns in public.

If you think all muslims are sympathetic to the nutcase, murdering jihadis than you have an inability to recognize who the real enemy is.

If you can’t spot him, how are you going to defeat him? You’ll just end up flailing away at anyone who meets your broad definition of the enemy...while the real ones slip by you.

Unless you’re saying ALL muslims are you’re enemy.

I was picked for “extra security” on my way home from San Antonio at the end of August. There was no private room for my pat-down.

There was no privacy while they rifled through all of my belongings.

I asked the guard why I got the cavity-search, he replied “This isn’t a cavity search!” I said, “You are pawing through all of my private stuff, it certainly is to me!”

He ended up telling me that my airline had “selected” me for “extra screening”.

This is why interviews by trained personel should be the main line of defense. No one would have to frisk a nun, or me either.

This is Detroit Metro airport.

Well, crap. I’m catching a flight to Frankfurt out of DTW in November, and from there to Tel Aviv.

FReepers have any suggestions on how to avoid being felt up by this Mohammedan, that won’t result in missing my flight and ending up in a jail cell?

If you think most of the TSA efforts actually provide security, then you’re deluded.

From the photograher, Dean Shaddock:

This was captured as I collected my things from airport security (Detroit Metro Concourse A). I think of it as something like a Rorschach test. Is an elderly Catholic nun being frisked by a Muslim security agent the celebration of blind justice? Or is it simply an admission of absurdity?

The nun should not be exempt from a search but she should NOT be searched by someone whose beliefs include the death of anyone whose religion is not hers. In this case the Nun is a shining example of all the muzzies detest and the search should have been conducted by someone other then her.
