Sure, it was just an acceptance speech at some silly awards ceremony. However, when Hollywoodans say ridiculous things on television that media applaud along with the Hollywoodans in attendance, someone's got to point out the inanity.
As such, when Sally Field said at Sunday's Emmy awards ceremony as reported by the MRC's Tim Graham, "And, let's face it, if the mothers ruled the war, there would be no (expletive) wars in the first place," I can't sit idly by without contesting such nonsense.
After all, it appears Field has never heard of some famous female leaders who brought their nation's to war:

If women are so nice and giving and selfless and peace-loving, then why have I had so many bad experiences with women friends? Men are so much easier to get along with!
The women in Islam have allowed their children to blow up like daddy. All the men pretty much abuse the women in that culture as well. There are no mothers with power in the Middle East Sally.
We have a problem in a war with radical Islam, so until Sally Field can figure a way to domesticate Islam to passivity, her statement was nothing but liberal serving BS.

Mothers in ancient Sparta would tell their sons going off to war to return with their shields or on it. In other words, either fight with ferocity and hold on to your shield until the fight is over or be dragged home on it dead. Dropping the shield to escape in retreat would be a disgrace worse than death to those moms.
I believe the correct term is "Hollywoodheads." Other acceptable terms include "Hollyweeds", "Hollow-woods", or "Hollyweirds". The jury still has not ruled on "Self-Absorbed Producer Puppets" or "Hack-tors."

The fact is, mothers don't rule the world. By what mechanism they should/would/might someday do so? What is she demanding, that every man cede his judgment and calling over to mommy?

I guess Sally wouldn’t consider them “rulers” of the war, but what does she make of all the female officers and NCOs who have children and who are also serving in the military? Female pilots and gunners (remember the celebrated A-10 pilot?) have been dealing their share of blows to the Taliban and other Islamonuts.

I tried to watch the Emmy’s a couple of times but couldn’t stand it for more than 30 seconds. What a bunch of preening, narcissistic know-nothings. The show was unwatchable.
