U.S. most armed country with 90 guns per 100 people

The United States has 90 guns for every 100 citizens, making it the most heavily armed society in the world, a report released on Tuesday said.
U.S. citizens own 270 million of the world's 875 million known firearms, according to the Small Arms Survey 2007 by the Geneva-based Graduate Institute of International Studies.
About 4.5 million of the 8 million new guns manufactured worldwide each year are purchased in the United States, it said.
"There is roughly one firearm for every seven people worldwide. Without the United States, though, this drops to about one firearm per 10 people," it said.
India had the world's second-largest civilian gun arsenal, with an estimated 46 million firearms outside law enforcement and the military, though this represented just four guns per 100 people there. China, ranked third with 40 million privately held guns, had 3 firearms per 100 people.
Germany, France, Pakistan, Mexico, Brazil and Russia were next in the ranking of country's overall civilian gun arsenals.
On a per-capita basis, Yemen had the second most heavily armed citizenry behind the United States, with 61 guns per 100 people, followed by Finland with 56, Switzerland with 46, Iraq with 39 and Serbia with 38.

Something tells me North Korea, Libya, Iran and Cuba are in the low-number category.
Only 100? I keep the old reloading presses (3) hot trying to replace the ammo I shoot up at my makeshift backyard firing range. I like to keep 500 rounds on hand for each firearm that could be useful in an emergency situation, but any amount over that is always handy for practice.
If the price of copper and lead keeps going up like a rocket I may have to consider casting my own bullets from the buckets of spent bullets I collect from my range backstop from time to time, and buying used brass in bulk lots on internet auction sites. I keep the propellant charges on the light side to make the brass last through a few more reloading cycles before neck splits and such set in, but it will eventually wear out no matter what you do.
The gun grabbers came to that conclusion long ago. THEY DON'T LIKE US HAVING FREEDOM.
Every able-bodied (sane), person should know how to load, aim, and shoot.
>I have 22 guns (10 pistols, 8 rifles, and 3 shotguns) so even gun owners like myself cover for a whole heap of non-owners. But one of my frinds has over 100 guns so he covers for a small town.<
Now if your friend can say that he has at least 100 round per firearm, then I’ll be truly impressed.

Just don’t ask me to explain Yemen.
I own four.
Must have MORE!
Also, they still have clan wars there from time to time. Yes they are Muslims, but even I would not stand in the way of their being armed, as long as I also have that right.
That would be me ;)
90 for 100 huh?
Where did they get the count? I have many that are not on any “books” any where, never have been (and they shoot just fine).
How many do I have? Well I have three winthin arms reach right not and I’m in my office. :)
Shhhssssh.....They out to get our “arsenals”....
BTTT
(See tagline)
That'd be me!
Only 90 guns per 100 people? Are the rest of you FReepers slacking?
I confess to hanging around gun shops to see if I am willing to outbid the shop keeper on trade ins.
Hmmm, gun collectors! That's it, we're gun collectors. ;)
(and ammo)
Hey I only want a few of those. I'm not even asking for a proportionate share! I think I need to let the BOSS I mean my WIFE read this article. How can she fault me for wanting a few paltrey guns when the numbers are like this?
Hmm. Seems we have a problem here. There should be a least 2-3 guns (pistol, shotgun, rifle) for each non-felon in the US.
Maybe an extra pistol or rifle or two in .22 for plinkin’, too.
Since the 2nd Amendment practically requires citizens to be armed, we need a 2nd Amendment Welfare and Drillin’ society to make sure every law-abidin’ Citizen has a militia rifle (and pistol and shotgun) and knows how to use it!
Well per http://www.census.gov/population/www/popclockus.html we have 302,722,151 as of 8/28/07 @ 20:03 GMT. That would mean that we would need to buy 30,272,215 firearms. If one half of current gun owners added 1 more gun to their collections, we could do it (though it would be better if we could add more new gun owners instead).
My house is 2 for 6, though I am trying to get rid of bills to add to that number. I would not be suprised to see at least 12 for 6 and possibly a lot more.
