This is the closest yet he has come to a public "yes."
Labor Day?
Day after labor Day?
To: MindBender26
I’ve been saying for a while, that he won’t declare until after Summer is over, people aren’t mentally and physically back from Summer vacations, the kids are back in school, etc. No point in declaring when your key voter base isn’t paying attention.
Some time shortly after Labor Day.

Has anybody told him the old school rules may not be compatible with the new school world where in the nominee is decided on or before Feb 5?

I don’t know.
Let’s ask Dr. Paul, he’s not doing anything...

Has anybody told him the old school rules may not be compatible with the new school world where in the nominee is decided on or before Feb 5?Who decided that new rules were supposed to apply? It's silly because hardly anyone, except political wonks, are even paying attention right now. There will be plenty of time for Fred to make his positions known before the first Republican primary, because, by announcing well after all the others, he will be something new and fresh rather than old and stale, and with the media buzz, regular folks will start paying attention.

I don’t think in the current age of the Internet, and such things as Rathergate and other modern media event that there are any rules except election rules, and so far he has been following those...
There is plenty of time.

Everyone in the DC area is gone during August, trying to escape the dog-gagging heat. Even the traffic on the Beltway is light. People in government and communications media are gone, which creates a domino effect as others find they can't get much done, so they leave too. In the rest of the US some people are also on vacation, and those who aren't are shopping for school supplies. If Thompson announced tomorrow, no one would notice.

Re: Everyone gone.
Two weekends ago, I was trying to line up a younger teenager to come over 3-4 times a day for doggie care, while we were away for a long weekend. The first *eight* kids I tried, were gone on “last vacation for the summer” trips.

Here’s your official preview of a FRed presidency, folks. Four long, tedious, weary years of the top dog waiting to decide whether to decide to decide. And then waiting a little longer.

Yup, I guess you would think so...
I like the fact that it has been decided and he is playing the competition. That skill could come in handy...

Get ready for more hero-worship on this thread. Everything that Fred does is genius. He's outsmarting everyone by not doing anything! He's lulling the front-runners to sleep by appearing so old and frail. We don't need someone to give great speeches and make public appearances! We need a quiet thinker! Robbing the cradle isn't all that bad. Love transcends age...she's a professional! Lobbyists are an important feature of democratic government! We love lawyers! Newt Gingrich is my hero! Fred will win all 50 states! And my personal favorite: He's just like Reagan.
People, denial isn't just a river in Egypt!

Carl Cameron reported on FNS the other day that Thompson had accepted an invitation from Fox News to participate in the Republican Presidential debate in New Hampshire September 5.

Like he said, he hasn’t had the years to get ready that others have because he hasn’t aspired to this for his whole life.
I like his explanation. It works for rme.

He’s not going to appear via sattelite in a Lazy-Boy, is he? Cuz if he did, that would be the best move. We like Fred to keep it “real”. Maybe he shouldn’t even appear but send a video answer to all the questions. Better yet, he should have an intern answer the questions for him, because we wouldn’t want Fred to work too hard. Long live the Fred!
To: MindBender26
Said the Fred, who's been testing the political waters: "Well, the water is pretty warm. I like the temperature a lot."It takes most of us about two seconds to test the water temperature. It takes Fred six months.
Maybe more. We've heard the rumors of the upcoming announcement any minute now for months.
It's become a joke.
