Study: Men With 'Cavemen' Faces Most Attractive to Women

Guys with bulldog-like faces have been chick magnets throughout human evolutionary history.

A recent study of the skulls of human ancestors and modern humans finds that women, and thereby evolution, selected for males with relatively short upper faces.

The region between the brow and the upper-lip is scrunched proportionately to the overall size of their heads.

Among the men who fit the bill: Will Smith and Brad Pitt.

In a past study, researchers found a similar facial pattern in chimpanzees, with males having relatively shorter and broader faces compared with females, controlling for body size.

Men with "mini mugs" might have been most attractive to the opposite sex and thus most likely to attract mates for reproduction, passing along the striking features to the next generation and so forth, said lead study author Eleanor Weston, a paleontologist at the Natural History Museum in London.

Interesting thread. Is there really an answer that will work for every woman?

Some of the guys think they actually know what a woman wants - some of the gals have refuted them. (And I just loved reading some of the posts!)

It’s a mystery, isn’t it?

Each one of the ladies here, have their own chemistry, and each responds differently. Women are all unique.

For example, I personally find Billy Bob Thornton, James Carville, Russell Crowe, Mike Tyson, Mel Gibson, George Clooney and Brad Pitt extremely unattractive.

Some women are turned on by intelligence, some by power. Some by physical build, some by cleanliness, some by stature, some by tenderness, some by confidence. Some women are turned on by child-like men, others want a man that is muscular, tough and macho. Others look at the shoes and fingernails, when they meet a man - some like one that sweats when he chops wood.

The fun (yet sad) thing is that men will never know (even though they think they do), what a woman truly wants - until they realize that every woman is different, and each one should be recognized as an individual with her own separate, individual uniquiness, that will take time and patience to truely know. (And, if smart - to cultivate.)

So basically, this is telling me women don’t like men with horse faces (like John Kerry)? Well, duh!

Sorry, that post was meant as a general one and not a direct response to anything you’ve said.

I know absolutely zilch about Harry Potter. Never read any of the books and never saw any of the movies.

I have tried to summon up my interest in this cultural tidal wave, but I just can't. I saw the first movie and thought, "Cute, I guess. For kids." And haven't been able to convince myself to investigate further.

It's like you can see inside of my soul.

ROFL!!

We should start a thread for women who love men on FR - they get to splash pics of beautiful conservative women all over the place, we should be able to do the same.

Han Solo says : "you want me to wear...what?!"

"[Stephen, he called me]...a very mere rake!"

He loved a battle; he loved a wench.

I think part of the reason I avoided the Potter stuff is my natural aversion to over-hyped books, movies, etc. Sometimes there is good reason for all the hype, but most of the time it's just cotton candy - looks like a lot, but melts to nothing when you really get into it.

The other reason we as a family stayed away from the Potter books was a plot synopsis we read when the first one started making waves. There seemed to be an underlying message that adults were not to be trusted and lying and deception by kids were ok as long as you had a good reason. We didn't want our kids (young at that time) to get that message. They are old enough now that it wouldn't be a problem and if they were interested in it we wouldn't have a problem, but at this point they are not even vaguely interested in the whole Potter hype. (They are more interested in Star Wars, Monty Python, Hannah Montana, etc.)

HEE HEE HEE HEE HEE!!! Im gonna quote Millee - 'its like you can see inside my soul!'

you oughta see my study - I claim to be interested in decorating in nautical themes, but really, its all about having a backdrop for my favorite pictures. I think my husband suspects though...fortunately, he likes his movies as well...was actually pretty impressed with M&C.

Damn. I’ve seen that picture before and it really gives me the creeps. I’ll be stealing it as well.

Yes, when we get bored at work we play a game of, "Which actor are you attracted to that is so ugly you are embarrassed by it but you'd do him anyways"

Most popular answer.....Billy Bob Thorton.

The whole caveman campaign was real marketing genius on GEICO’s behalf. I still crack up at those commercials. And you’re right...the tune in that particular ad is pretty catchy! LOL
